Story
Ventus is a one-of-a-kind cat with a quirky personality that keeps things interesting in the best way. He is very food-motivated, which makes him highly responsive during feeding time and a great candidate for continued positive reinforcement training. Ventus is also very communicative—he is not shy about expressing how he feels and uses a variety of vocal cues and body language to let you know what he wants or when he needs space. Once he is comfortable, his playful and affectionate side begins to shine through, showing just how engaging and entertaining he can be. Ventus would do best in a patient, understanding home that appreciates a cat with personality, humor, and a strong sense of individuality.

CALM, LOVING GENTLE GIANT WHO LOVES TO BE PETTED & BRUSHED  DOB 4/20/22 Hey there, everyone! I’m Buddy, a big, gentle, calm, and affectionate silver tabby Maine Coon fella who luxuriates when Foster Meowmy scratches my ears, rubs my belly, and brushes the long locks on my wispy mane, body, and flowing tail. I’m rather a lethargic couch potato, and sleeping peacefully on Foster Meowmy’s chest is one of my favorite pastimes. She thinks that I was someone’s abandoned or lost outdoor pet who wandered up as a friendly intact stray to her next-door neighbor’s community-cat feeding station. Over the next few months, I became friends with Pina, a sweet-and-spicy tortie gal who also showed up at chow time. About three months later, we wandered together over to Foster Meowmy’s back yard in East Houston, and she was kind enough to bring us both inside when the February arctic freeze hit. I had no problem with this because I’m very food-motivated, and I knew that there was probably an abundance of yummy food and treats inside. Sometimes I long for my previous outdoor life, but I know it’s dangerous out there on the streets, so I’m perfectly content to satisfy my “call of the wild” by sitting in a patch of sunshine on the cat tree next to a window so I can gaze at the wildlife outside. Unfortunately, the consequences of surviving the hardscrabble life became a reality when I tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+), which I probably contracted from the deep bite wound from an intact male cat. (Unlike Feline Leukemia, FIV is NOT passed on "casually" by sharing food bowls and litter boxes with other household cats.) Being FIV positive doesn’t stop me from living my best life as long as my dental health is routinely monitored and prompt attention is given to any urinary-tract or upper-respiratory infections. I realized that I’d stolen Foster Meowmy’s heart when I heard her say, “Buddy is the kind of really special cat who is rare.” Now I’m ready to be the gentle giant and kind, old soul who peacefully reigns over the hearts of my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! Since Foster Meowmy realizes that I’ll be most contented if I remain with my soulmate Pina, she is insisting that Pina and I be adopted as a bonded pair. We think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation – and that arrangement probably works out best for you anyway! Never forget that my heart has so much love to give – all I need is YOU! HOPE ID 26-0704-C059 Buddy and Pina’s $250 bonded-pair adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. To apply online: http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/cat-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site that Buddy and Pina will be this weekend, email us at nancy.e.kline@hotmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you. Story
THEIR ROMANCE BEGAN AT A COMMUNITY-CAT FEEDING STATION  DOB 4/20/22 (Buddy); DOB 2/29/25 (Pina) Hey there, everyone! We’re Buddy and Pina, a pair of bonded soulmates whose romance began at Foster Meowmy’s next-door neighbor’s community-cat feeding station. About three months after we met, we wandered together over to Foster Meowmy’s back yard in East Houston, and she was kind enough to bring us both inside when the February arctic freeze hit. Buddy says, “I’m a big, gentle, calm, and affectionate brown tabby Maine Coon fella who luxuriates when Foster Meowmy scratches my ears, rubs my belly, and brushes the long locks on my wispy mane, body, and flowing tail. I’m rather a lethargic couch potato, and sleeping peacefully on Foster Meowmy’s chest is one of my favorite pastimes.” Pina says, “I’m a cuddly and sweet but spicy and energetic tortoiseshell gal who flaunts my proverbial “tortitude” with flair and offers my opinions with confident panache. I know that I’d disappoint you if I didn’t live up to the tortie’s reputation of sassiness when being affectionate with my hoomans -- on my terms, of course.” Although we’re both pretty asymptomatic, we both are classified as having special needs. Buddy says, “I tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV+), which I probably contracted from the deep bite wound from an intact male cat. (Unlike Feline Leukemia, FIV is NOT passed on "casually" by sharing food bowls and litter boxes with other household cats.) Being FIV positive doesn’t stop me from living my best life as long as my dental health is routinely monitored and prompt attention is given to any urinary-tract or upper-respiratory infections.” Pina says, “Just before the February arctic freeze, Foster Meowmy found me collapsed and unresponsive in her backyard. She rushed me to the vet, who diagnosed and successfully treated me for a respiratory infection, and I still occasionally suffer from asthma as a leftover result of that nasty infection. To this day, I gratefully owe my life to Foster Meowmy.” Although we both have stolen Foster Meowmy’s heart, we think it’s time for us to let her resident cats bask in her unshared attention and to find a forever family of very own. Perhaps you’re looking for a gentle giant and kind, old soul who peacefully reigns over your hearts (that’s me, Buddy) as well as a fiercely loyal companion, ready to be the center of your attention (that’s me, Pina). Could that be you? Arrange to meet us today! Since Foster Meowmy realizes that we’ll be most contented if we remain together, she is insisting that we be adopted as a bonded pair. We think it’d be the cat’s meow if we could be playmates and cuddle buddies while you’re at work or on vacation – and that arrangement probably works out best for you anyway! HOPE ID 26-0704-C059, C058 Buddy and Pina’s $250 bonded-pair adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Story
ALL SHE WANTS IS TO LOVE AND BE LOVED Hey there, everyone! I’m Micha, an outgoing, affectionate, and cuddly brown tabby Maine Coon mix gal with a fluffy tail and gorgeous green eyes. My favorite spot is snuggled right next to Foster Meowmy so I can luxuriate while she gently strokes my back and scratches my ears. I’m very friendly and sociable, so I connect quickly with hoomans. If we’ve just met, just give me a minute because it won’t take me long to trust you and seek your affection – and happily reciprocate your love with gentle head nudges and contented purrs. You see, I’m a girl who loves deeply. My heart’s desire is actually very simple -- I want someone to love, and in return, I want someone who will love me back just as much. My story hasn’t always been easy. Foster Meowmy found my sister Noche and me wandering around an apartment complex as friendly strays when we were only ten months old. Our previous owner had moved away and left us behind, and we were suddenly on our own trying to survive. Despite being abandoned, I never stopped trusting people. From the first day that Foster Meowmy scooped Noche and me up and brought us to the safe haven of her home, she saw something special in my sweet and loving personality – that I’m incredibly grateful for being given a second chance to be safe, loved, cherished, and never abandoned again. Now I’m ready to fill my forever family’s life with companionship, affection, and plenty of purrs. In return, they need to see what my Foster Meowmy sees — a devoted, loyal, affectionate girl who’s happiest when I can be close to my people, sharing their day and receiving all the love and attention that delights me so much. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! Look into my big green eyes and give me just a minute -- I have a feeling that’s all the time I’ll need to show you all the love in my heart. HOPE ID 26-0515-G092 Micha’s $125 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for FIV/FeLV, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment against fleas and parasites. Story
Sterling is a 6 year old neutered male suspected mainecoone mix. Due to life circumstances, I am having to make the tough decision to find him a new home. Sterling is a bit shy at first, but once he warms up he is very loving and friendly. He is low maintenance and well behaved and spends most of his day sleeping in various spots. Sterling has a crooked jaw due to breaking his jaw when he was a kitten and having surgery. Due to this, his eye on the same side as the jaw injury is always leaky. It doesn't seem to cause him any issues and he has no other issues going on because of it, I just clean his eyes extra. Sterling would do best in a home with cats younger than him, as he has been bullied by older cats before since he is submissive. He is fine around dogs and is good with people and kids. If you are interested in Sterling please reach out to me for more details.
