Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Hi . . . My name is Daisy and I am a sweet senior gal who is 10 years old.  I’m a tiny Maltese/Poodle blend girl weighing just 8 lbs. I am vision impaired, but I don’t let that stop me from exploring.  I truly appreciate my freedom, affection and care and would love to be the princess in my forever home. Favorite Things: Daisy LOVES her food and loves soaking up attention.  Toys and playing are not really her thing, but exploring her surroundings is high on her list of favorite things. She also loves being around her person and will sit next to them as much as possible (and extra close in bed at night). Training & Manners:  Daisy is working on her house training and will need to be taken outside frequently.  Due to her vision, she doesn’t do well on a leash so will need more practice with leash walking.  She has good basic manners and is highly food motivated.  She is verbal when she wants food but is otherwise quiet. Health and Care: Daisy is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is on daily drops for dry eyes and takes her monthly preventatives for fleas and heartworm.  She will likely require professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to keep her looking and feeling her best. Other Animals:  Daisy has experience with other small dogs and cats.  Children: This gentle, curious gal would do best in a home with respectful teens.    Ideal Home: Daisy would do well in an apartment, condo or single-family home.  Her “dream” home would be a house without steps (although she is tiny enough to carry) and no pool (for safety reasons with her vision impairment).  A fenced yard would keep her safe and give her room for her adventurous explorations. She has free rein of her foster home and can be left for several hours without issues. She sleeps in the “people bed” at night and is happy to cozy up to her person. Overall: Daisy is a great and loyal companion asking only for food, love and attention. Could Daisy be the one for you? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org and submit an adoption application. If it looks like a good fit, her foster family will reach out with more information. Her adoption donation is $200.   ##2667454##

Story
Hi, I’m Winter! I'm a 4-year-old Maltese-ShihTzu blend weighing in at a perfect 16 pounds of fluff, love, and personality. He may look like a little snowball, but don’t be fooled, he's here to melt hearts, not freeze them. Let’s get one thing out of the way: yes, he may only have three legs, but  we prefer to think of it as his super power. Zoomies: still top tier. Ability to dart around during playtime: elite. His Spirit: absolutely unstoppable. Favorite Things: Winter loves scritches and he's got a system: lock eyes with you, tilt head just right, and politely request assistance. So you bring the hands, he'll bring the charm. He is drawn to crinkle toys and backyard lounging is nice, but he's more “quality over quantity”. Winter is qual parts playful zoomie champion and professional couch cuddler. And he does all of this with only 3 legs.  Training & Manners: Winter is a good boy! He is housetrained if let out frequently, walks well on a leash and enjoys going for walks. At night he enjoys sleeping next to his foster mom at night or cuddling on the couch. He is generally a chill little guy who has good basic manner, most of the time. Like a true Shih Tzu gentleman, Winter does have the occassional "tiny emperor" moment if you don't follow his social cues.  Health & Care: Winter is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and recently had his teeth cleaned. Other Animals: Winter will do best in a home without other dogs as he prefers to have his person all to himself.   Children: Winter would do better in an adult only home.  Ideal Home: Winter would do well in a single family home with few or no stairs. He has a history of being a bit of a hound-ini and an escape artist, he would do best with an experienced dog owner that could take precautions to prevent him from being able to easily dart out of a door.  Overall: Has Winter's sweet, resilient, curious cuddlebug with soulful eyes warmed your heart? If so, visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to fill out an adoption or foster application. If it seems like a good match, our team will reach out with more information. His adoption donation is $350. ##2674746##

Story
Hi, I’m Tinkerbell… and yes, I bring a little sparkle wherever I go. At 14 years old and 11.7 lbs, I’m a sweet little Maltese Poodle blend with a loving spirit and a fondness for the simple things like curling up in a cozy lap, soaking up attention and riding in the car (my absolute favorite!). I’m affectionate, patient and happiest just being close to my people. If you’re looking for a snuggly companion with an easy, comforting presence, I just might be your girl. Favorite Things: Tinkerbell has a soft spot for life’s little routines; she knows when it’s time to relax, when it’s time to head out, and especially when it’s time for a car ride. The moment she sees keys, her tail gets going. She enjoys short strolls, a comfy place to settle and will happily spend time right by your side or perched in your lap. While toys aren’t really her thing, she’ll choose time with her person every time. Training and Manners: Tinkerbell is fully house-trained when let out regularly and has excellent basic manners. She walks well on a leash and carries herself with a steady, easygoing demeanor. She can be left alone for several hours without concern and does well either enjoying a secure area or having access to the household. At night, she prefers the comfort of the people bed, where she settles in with ease. Health and Care: She is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccines. She will just need monthly heart worm and flea/tick preventives, like all dogs. She is a great eater and maintains a steady routine. Regular grooming will keep her looking polished and feeling her best. Other Animals: Tinkerbell prefers calm, small dogs and may do well with cats given a proper introduction. Children: Tinkerbell has not had direct experience with children, but her patient, easygoing personality suggests she would do best in a home where interactions are respectful and not overly busy. Ideal Home: Tinkerbell is looking for a single-family home where she can enjoy a safe, consistent environment. A home without a pool is important to help her move around confidently and safely. She’ll thrive with someone who enjoys a slower pace and appreciates a loyal companion who loves staying nearby and being part of daily life. Overall: Tinkerbell is a devoted, loving little dog who brings comfort, warmth, and just a touch of sparkle wherever she goes. She has a wonderful way of fitting into everyday moments and making them feel a little brighter. For someone looking for a steady companion and a sweet, affectionate shadow, Tinkerbell is truly a special match. Is Tinkerbell the one for you? If so visit www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org to submit an adoption application. If it looks like a great match, her foster family will reach out with more information. Her adoption donation is $150. ##2717486##

Story
Bentley is being fostered in Illinois. Bentley has some vision.Bentley, a reserved, easy-going gentleman is looking for a calm, relaxed housemate/best friend. He was recently interviewed about his special search. What would your perfect “digs” include?-I am very shy, so it would have an area to sleep and dine privately with some storage for my soft, plushy toy stash. In addition I would need a second cozy dog bed for relaxing and just “being” closer to my human(s) in the common area.-Ideally it must also include green space. I love to be outdoors! The words “outside” or “walk” just start my tail a-wagging uncontrollably. (See video) A leisurely jaunt at a medium waddle with an occasional relaxed trot or a super fun “Sniffari” is enjoyed several times a day!Would you share the qualities you need in a housemate/best friend?- My person will need to be patient, intuitive and willing to take the time for trust building. (As an introvert, I can be a puzzle and full of contradictions). Here are a few examples....I require a large perimeter of personal space, but offer the same to my person. I am low-maintenance, well-mannered and not an in-your-face attention-seeker, yet I also feel safe and the most comfortable knowing my human is nearby. This makes me an ideal housemate for a retiree or a remote worker.A cuddle bug I am not, yet I have been known to fall asleep in a lap occasionally and I find head scratches or butt and back rubs absolutely irresistible.Meeting humans is difficult for me, yet I approach well-mannered dogs happily. What do you consider your finest quality?-I am agreeable. Dress me up in a silly sweater, wipe my dirty toes when I come in the house, give me a bath, take a car ride.....as long as I am with you, I’m all in.And your weakest?-I am working on conquering my insecurities. I get anxious when I am home alone for a long stretch, so I sometimes have potty accidents.Bentley, what else would you like to tell folks?-I sleep through the night and during the day it is my mission to provide quiet company, put a smile on your face and love in your heart.BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
