Story
Bronco is a lovable senior small dog with a carefree, friendly personality. He's the kind of dog who's just happy to be included, whether that means tagging along for a car ride or hanging out with his family at home. He enjoys attention, has a gentle nature, and does well around kids. Since Bronco spent much of his life outdoors, he isn't fully house trained and may still have occasional accidents indoors. He'll do best with a patient adopter who understands older dogs and can help him adjust to indoor living with routine and encouragement. Bronco may be a senior, but he still has plenty of love to give and a cheerful attitude that makes him easy to adore. He's looking for a relaxed, understanding home where he can enjoy his golden years feeling safe, comfortable, and cared for.$95.00 Fee includes initial vaccines, worming, microchip with registration, and free vet health exam. This pet has been fed Country Vet Naturals, donated to us by Country Vet. Primary Color: White Weight: 8.5 Age: 13yrs 0mths 0wks

Story
Cactus is a sweet senior little guy with a laid-back, happy-go-lucky personality. He loves soaking up attention, going for car rides, and just being near his people. Despite his age, he still has a cheerful spirit and enjoys tagging along for adventures or relaxing by your side. Cactus spent most of his life as an outdoor dog, so he's still learning indoor routines and is not fully potty trained. Because of that, he may have accidents in the house and will need a patient home willing to work with him and keep him on a consistent schedule. He does well with kids and has an easygoing nature that makes him a pleasant companion. Cactus would thrive in a caring home that understands senior dogs and appreciates the charm of an older pup looking for comfort, kindness, and a soft place to land.$95.00 Fee includes initial vaccines, worming, microchip with registration, and free vet health exam. This pet has been fed Country Vet Naturals, donated to us by Country Vet. Primary Color: White Weight: 9.375 Age: 13yrs 0mths 0wks

Story
Chewbarka is a calm, easygoing little gentleman who would much rather spend his day curled up beside you than causing any kind of chaos. With his short legs, fluffy long coat, and adorable floppy ears, he looks like a real-life stuffed animal and has the sweet personality to match. While he may be a bit reserved at first, once he feels safe and comfortable, Chewbarka quickly shows his affectionate side and turns into a total cuddle bug. This laid-back boy is happiest lounging on the couch, soaking up attention, and enjoying the quiet life. He would thrive in a calm home where he can settle in at his own pace and build trust with his new family. Chewbarka is the perfect companion for someone looking for a relaxed lap dog who enjoys companionship more than constant activity. One thing to know about Chewbarka is that he does not like things around his neck, especially slip leads, so patience and gentle handling will be important as he adjusts and learns new routines. A family willing to work with him compassionately and respect his boundaries will help him feel secure and confident. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion with a soft coat and an even softer heart, Chewbarka may be your perfect match.

Story
Meet Bonnie and Bob!Bonnie and Bob, our bonded duo, came to us from a rescue after receiving them from a breeder. They are still learning what it means to be loved pets but are currently shy and unsocialized. They have not mastered walking on a leash and would do best in a home with a secure, physical fenced yard where they can safely potty, play, and learn new skills. They’re comfortable using potty pads but will need a patient adopter willing to teach them new routines and skills at their own pace. Fast movements and loud noises can be scary for them, so a calm, adult-only home with gentle guidance would be best. They don’t do well with small dogs but may thrive alongside a larger, confident dog who can help show them the ropes. Bonnie and Bob would just need proper introductions to other animals to make sure everyone gets along well. With Bonnie and Bob being considered high maintenance due to their grooming needs, and since they have not had experience with a groomer, they will need to be groomed with sedation or medication from a vet until they have had time to trust new experiences. They are looking for someone who understands that progress may be slow and that their affection may look different than most other dogs. With time, consistency, and compassion, these two will learn to blossom into wonderful companions for someone that is ready to help them feel safe and loved.

Story
HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Came from a situation where she did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age; has been making tons of progress in her foster home but may still struggle with new situations - Still quite shy, although she really wants to connect and make friends; looking for a patient person who will give her lots of time to settle in and form a relationship with them - it will take time, but it will be so rewarding to gain her trust and watch her confidence grow - A TOTAL goofball when the lights go out; her foster family said they've watched her on their camera as she prances around, explores and plays with their other dogs - Loves yard time and may enjoy a fenced yard, especially as she continues getting more comfortable with a leash - Foster family said for potty training, she is good about going outside about 75% of the time and otherwise goes on her potty pads - Has done well when her foster family is gone and they said she would likely do well in either an apartment or house setting - Loves exploring, eating any kind of treat and settling in her "nest" and observing - Overall does well in the car- Will do best in a home with more mature family members who will give her time to acclimate and help her continue to gain confidence - Has done best with a "helper" dog when it comes to learning that people can be OK and has been fantastic - playful and very respectful - with the dogs in her foster home; we recommend that she go to a home with another dog All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Weight: 13 Age: 3yrs 7mths 0wks
