Story
- A very special dog who arrived severely injured and required major surgery; has bounced back extremely well but will need special care throughout his life - read on if you are interested in this sweet, special-needs dog! - Arrived at the ARL with severe jaw fractures that required almost a full removal of his lower jaw; has been doing very well after his surgery and is able to eat wet food on his own; will need to be on a soft-food diet for life, and may require support while eating, including adding water to his food or feeding him in small wet food "meatballs" - Exceptionally sweet and friendly and seems unaware that he's any different from any other dog!- Formed close bonds with his caregivers and seems to love people; had a great time roaming around our Miracle Medical Ward during his recovery and loved getting pets from people before he'd be off exploring again - Because he's missing much of his lower jaw, his tongue will always hang out of his mouth and he may have more noticeable drooling than other dogs; will need regular vet visits to ensure the remaining part of his jaw and overall dental health are doing well (more info at ARL)- Our team is happy to talk to you more about his special needs when you visit, and we encourage you to reach out to your regular vet with questions, as well The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: White Weight: 12.25 Age: 5yrs 0mths 4wks

Story
Meet Dexter! ??Dexter is a sweet, energetic guy who loves other dogs and is reported to be good with cats, although his foster home doesn’t have any cats for us to test him with.He walks well on leash and is doing great with his kennel training. We were told Dexter marks, but he was recently neutered, which should help curb that behavior. So far, he hasn’t had a single accident in his foster home, although he is let outside frequently.Dexter gets very excited during play and can get a little mouthy, so we are recommending a home with children 10 years or older. He also LOVES to grab things and run with them—especially toilet paper rolls, towels, socks and anything cloth hanging around the house. If you have clutter, consider this your sign to declutter… or be prepared to chase Dexter! ??This feisty, fun-loving boy loves to run and would really enjoy a home with a fenced yard, although one is not required. If you’re looking for a playful, entertaining companion with plenty of personality, Dexter may be your guy! ??

Story
All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.
