Story
Meet Kaia 🌼 Kaia is a super sweet senior girl who’s ready to enjoy her golden days in a loving, quiet home filled with comfy beds and soft blankets. Around 13 years old, she still has a little spunk that gets her up and moving for daily walks, playtime, and—her favorite—endless belly rubs. Kaia is the perfect mix of gentle companion and spirited sweetheart and would thrive with a family who wants to spoil a senior dog and give her the peaceful, love-filled retirement she deserves. - Around 13 years old - Currently 15lbs - Good with kids, cats and dogs - Adoption fee: $100 To inquire about this dog, please email dogs@adoptapetfenton.com. Include information about your family and pets, what you are looking for in a canine companion, how you plan to exercise and train this dog, and why this specific dog seems like a good fit for your family. Those who provide the previous information will be considered first for this canine. Please do NOT call our center. This will help us match you and the animal the best we can. We usually respond via email within 24-48 hours; please check your spam folder if you don't hear from us. Dog adoption fees include spay/neuter, rabies vaccine (if age-appropriate), distemper/parvo combination vaccine, leptospirosis vaccine (if age-appropriate), bordetella vaccine, deworming, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea preventative, a dental cleaning (if necessary), and a microchip. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. &#226&#128&#139 Howdy y’all! I’m Yuki, a 4-year-old Maltese mix. I was found wandering the streets of Detroit and was lucky enough to land in a wonderful foster home! While living with my foster family, I’ve discovered that I love cuddling with my humans. I’m happiest snuggled up on the couch or bed, just relaxing and enjoying the moment. I’m not super interested in toys, but I do get small bursts of energy—if something is nearby, I might shake it around and zoom around for a bit! I walk on a leash, though I could use a little more training to stay to one side since I sometimes like to weave around and accidentally trip my humans. I am extremely food-motivated! I love my meals so much that I use a slow feeder bowl. I enjoy almost all treats and am learning to sit and wait patiently until I’m released to eat. I do well with other dogs as long as they aren’t right up in my face, and I would benefit from slow introductions—especially with larger dogs. Cats are totally fine with me too; I don’t mind them at all.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. January 19, 2026, 10:00 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.UPDATE: Bella 2 yr old Bichon / Maltese, potty pad trained, loves to play with toys. Bella is a jumper! She can jump baby gates with no problem, she stands and walks on her hind feet. Meet the Quartet of Cuteness!   Bella, Nala, Olaf and Max are all Bichon Frise / Maltese mixes.  They may be a mom, dad and two offspring but we aren't certain.  What we do know is they all came from the same home.  Their owner died and the family was unable to keep them.  Each one has a distinct personality:  Bella is described as an 'attention hog', while Nala is more laid back and will not seek attention, but if you are willing to give it she will happily accept it.  Max seems more outgoing than Olaf, who prefers at this point to 'observe' his world.  All are said to be good with other dogs and children. All will need time to adjust to a new home and routine.  Even though they are said to be good with other dogs and children, they have only lived together, so all will need slow and proper introductions to children and other dogs.  We don't know how they are with cats.  They all need basic training, including potty training.  Vet appointments for needed vaccines and spay/neuter are being done soon.  Because of their breed, each will require ongoing grooming, an additional cost to consider. We know these littles won't be with us for long so if interested in adopting any of them please apply soon.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Rocki.  This little furball is a Maltese mix and weighs about 13 pounds.  He is a friendly and playful pup, of about one year old.  He likes to play with his foster mom's bigger dog.  He is playfully 'mouthy' like a puppy, but is working on breaking this habit.  He also likes to 'steal' socks and run off with them, but is not a destructive chewer.  Rocki is doing very well with potty training. Story
Gus is an 8-month-old Maltese with a bright personality and a fresh new start. This small, white fluffball came to us as a stray, so his prior history is unknown—but what we do know is that Gus has been friendly, social, and sweet in our care. He’s newly shaved and neutered, feeling good, and ready to learn what life in a loving home is all about. Like many young dogs, Gus will thrive with positive reinforcement training to help him build confidence, learn good manners, and continue growing into the best little companion he can be.Because his background is unknown, his experience with other animals is also unknown. We recommend slow, safe introductions to any resident pets to set everyone up for success. If you’re looking for a small dog with a big heart and are ready to help a young pup blossom, Gus may be your perfect match. 💕
