Story
***Tia is in a foster home, so she is not at the kennel. If you are interested in her, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Tia has never met a lap she didn't like! This little cutie is estimated to be about 3 years old and weighs 9 pounds right now, but she still needs to gain a little weight. Meet silly Tia, she came to K9 so emaciated she looked like a walking skeleton! After a few weeks in a foster home on a careful feeding program, she is now a happy, bouncy girl, just a little skinny! She needs to add a couple more pounds but is ready to look for her forever family. Tia is very friendly and loves humans, but since she is still very puppyish and learning her manners, she would do best in a home with children over 13. She also loves other dogs and gains confidence from having her foster siblings around, so another dog in the home is important for her. Tia is doing well learning about potty training and crate training and loves going for walks. She also loves to cuddle on a lap at the end of a long, active day! She really likes to be with her people, so someone who is home a lot would be just perfect for her. Tia would really like it if you wanted to meet her, she can't wait for a family to love and where she will be cared for like she deserves. If you are interested in Tia and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
According to her foster, Millie is a spitfire! Fortunately, she is very small so she isn't bouncing off the furniture or chewing up your house. She loves other little dogs and doesn't bother the cats that she lives with. She is very active and playful and loves to drag around toys. She is crate trained, sleeps through the night, and loves to go outside. She is pee pad trained but seems to prefer to potty outside. She walks on a leash for a time, but then looks at you with her sad eyes (what an act) so that you will pick her up. She does have a hind leg that she sometimes limps on and sometimes uses. She can go up and down stairs but sometimes needs help coming back up. She will go anywhere with you. She will alert you with a few barks when there is a disturbance in her universe. What a fun little dog! She is estimated to be between 5-7 years old and recently had a full dentalFOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. UPDATE: Nala is a bit standoffish when she first meets people, she is more comfortable with women than men but still growls and barks when meeting any new people, we are working on socialization skills. She is also doing well with house training but she is  potty pad trained and still uses them from time to time .  Nala is the kind of gal that once she loves you she is yours and prefers to be only yours! I believe Nala would do best with no dogs in the home as she lived in a home with four other dogs and really does prefer one-on-one attention. Preferably only older children that are not loud or no children at all. She loves to play ball, and is currently learning to bring it back to you! Nala does tend to bark a lot when you leave her so probably no apartments, Condominiums, or duplexes for her. I also prefer a fenced yard as as Nala gets the zoomies and loves to run! She also does not have the best recall if she is chasing a bird or squirrel and bunnies! I am still learning more about her as times goes on.  UPDATE: Nala is a Bichon Frise,  3 years old and potty pad trained . So far she's a wonderful lap dog and loves to play with toys. Meet the Quartet of Cuteness!   Nala, Bella Olaf and Big Mac aka Max are all Bichon Frise / Maltese mixes.  They may be a mom, dad and two offspring but we aren't certain.  What we do know is they all came from the same home.  Their owner died and the family was unable to keep them.  Each one has a distinct personality:  Bella is described as an 'attention hog', while Nala is more laid back and will not seek attention, but if you are willing to give it she will happily accept it.  Big Mac aka Max seems more outgoing than Olaf, who prefers at this point to 'observe' his world.  All are said to be good with other dogs and children. All will need time to adjust to a new home and routine.  Even though they are said to be good with other dogs and children, they have only lived together, so all will need slow and proper introductions to children and other dogs.  We don't know how they are with cats.  They all need basic training, including potty training.  Vet appointments for needed vaccines and spay/neuter are being done soon.  Because of their breed, each will require ongoing grooming, an additional cost to consider. We know these littles won't be with us for long so if interested in adopting any of them please apply soon.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
