Story
Meet Tipper!Meet me and some of my other foster friends this Saturday, May 30 from 11am – 2pm at Meadow Brook Amphitheatre! We would love to help you find your newest family member. To help make the adoption process smoother, please complete an adoption application online ahead of time to become pre-approved. All members of the household — including any current dogs — must be present at the event so we can complete introductions and help verify compatibility. Please note that we do not hold dogs, and many potential adopters will be attending the event. We hope to see you there!
Tipper is an adorable little Maltese/Poodle mix (best guess) with the sweetest soulful eyes and a heart that just wants to love her people. At just 1 year old and around 8lbs, this tiny girl is looking for the safe, loving forever home she has always deserved after being found as a stray in Detroit and sadly never reclaimed.
Like many dogs who have had an uncertain start, Tipper can be a little hesitant around unfamiliar faces initially. She takes a little time to feel comfortable, but once she trusts you, she becomes your tiny shadow. Tipper wants to be as close to her people as possible and will happily follow you from room to room throughout the day. Because she bonds so closely, her future family will need to be mindful when opening doors, as she is very prone to wanting to stay right by your side.
Tipper absolutely loves cuddling on the couch and would be more than happy to share your bed at night. She has a gentle and affectionate personality once she settles in and truly enjoys simply being near the people she loves most. However, she is quite spunky and young still, so she very much needs a family that can keep up with her puppy-like energy!
She does well with other dogs and has shown no issues with cats. Due to her initially timid nature, she would do best with adults or older, dog-savvy children who can respect her boundaries and help build her confidence.
Tipper can be vocal when she hears unfamiliar noises or wants to alert her people to possible “dangers,” so she would not be a good fit for apartment or tightly knit living. She is not particularly fond of the crate but is slowly learning routine and structure in foster care. She has already demonstrated a good understanding of house manners and continues to make wonderful progress every day.
She is also learning how to play with toys and discovering that life can actually be fun. Tipper has had very little experience walking on a leash and can be nervous in unfamiliar outdoor settings, so she will need a patient family willing to work slowly on building her confidence with leash walking and new experiences.
At this time, Tipper would do best with a secure physical fenced yard. She is not a candidate for an invisible fence or tether system.
As with many Maltese/Poodle mixes, Tipper will require regular grooming to keep her coat healthy and comfortable.
Tipper is searching for a patient, understanding family that will give her the love, security, and commitment she deserves for the rest of her life. In return, she promises to be the most loyal little companion by your side furever.

Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different.
While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program.
FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS.
