She’s a curious little girl who enjoys exploring her surroundings and being held by her trusted humans. Lulu loves having a furry friend! She follows her foster sister around and seems to take comfort in having another dog nearby. She enjoys picking up little toys, especially soft or rubber ones, even if she hasn’t quite figured out how to play with them yet. Lulu is still building her confidence and will need a patient, understanding family willing to let her settle in at her own pace. The world can be a scary place for this little girl, and she is very fearful of new things. She is not leash-trained yet and is a flight risk, so her safety will need to be a top priority while she learns to trust her new surroundings. Lulu is looking for a home that offers: A patient, loving family who will give her time to blossom. A friendly companion dog to help her feel safe and secure. A safe, secure environment with extra precautions to prevent escapes. Gentle encouragement as she learns about leash walking and the big world around her. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. Meet Tiny Ava ❤️🐾 At just 4.7 pounds, Ava the sweetest, tiny little girl who is happiest curled up in your lap or following her person from room to room. She truly wants to be wherever you are and would love a home where she can be your constant companion. Ava never barks, is friendly with everyone she meets, and gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids. She is leash trained and kennel trained, and she does very well with potty training when taken outside on a consistent schedule. At night, she would be delighted to snuggle up and sleep in bed with you. ❤️ When Ava came into rescue, she was very matted and needed to be shaved for her comfort. Her coat will grow back beautifully, but she will need regular grooming to keep it healthy and mat-free. Car rides make her a little nervous, so she will appreciate some patience and reassurance while she gets more comfortable traveling. She wants to sit on your lap. Ava is looking for someone who will treasure her, include her in their everyday life, and give her all the love and attention she deserves. I was quite the stud in my former breeder home, but I never learned to trust others or be myself. My current lady is helping me find my inner puppy. Who knew squeaky toys, zoomies, and doggy stairs were this much fun? She thinks my love of food—turns out cucumbers, melon, and apples are almost as delicious as doggy treats!—might make forever-home training easy once I learn to relax a bit more. For now, I prefer using indoor potty pads and staying safely tucked inside a sling when outdoors.
