About Me If you're looking for a sweet, fun, cuddly sidekick I am the guy for you! I am new to The Rescue Crew but my foster Momma already says I am the most perfect little boy ( as if I didn't know that already?!? ) . I am crate tranied, doing well with potty training, I am good with other dogs ( although big dogs that bark loud scare me ) and am not quite sure what a cat is for? I mean, they won't play with me, so what do they do? I was unclaimed stray from a local impound that the rescue works with all of the time. The staff there took great care of my while they were letting me hang out waiting for my family to come take me home. Unfortunately, they never came so I joined the rescue. Did you notice how cool my coat is? My foster Momma says it's gorgeous but I prefer to say that I am handsome. I do like toys, but honestly all I really want is to be with my people! I haven't met kids yet in my foster home, so I can't tell you yet if I like them or not. I am small and can be kinda wiggly, so human kids will need to be respectful and careful with me as I am not a toy. WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? Luella was found as a stray with matted fur, especially on her tail, which had to be shaved down. She’s a small, silky-coated girl who likely has some Yorkie in her, and she’s still settling into home life and figuring things out. She is smart and young, but she needs work on basic training and manners. Potty training is a work in progress, though she has made clear improvement. When she first arrived, she would go in her crate, but now she will let you know when she needs to go out, even overnight sometimes. She can hold it, she just needs consistency. Luella can be unsure at first. When she first came in, she spent about a day growling from her crate before she decided to trust. Once she warms up, she gets very attached to her person and wants to be with them as much as possible. That attachment can turn into some protective behavior, as she has started trying to “guard” her person in the home. She is not a big barker, but she will bounce around in her crate when she is excited, especially at mealtime or when she needs to go out. She may whine a bit when first kenneled, but she settles well at night when her crate is nearby. Luella would do best in a quieter home without kids. She can be sensitive to new people and environments, and she will need patience while she continues building confidence. She is not a good fit for a busy or noisy living situation. Luella is still a work in progress, but she is smart, improving quickly, and very devoted once she chooses her person. Luella is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/16/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9ama nd noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.

Montee is a ~10 year old Maltese Pomerainan mix with a big personality. He’s a spunky, funny little guy who still enjoys short bursts of energy followed by long, cozy naps in the sun. He’s happiest right by your side, whether that’s laying at your feet while you work or supervising in the kitchen as your dedicated “sous chef.” Montee prefers women over men. He loves his little stuffed “babies,” enjoys car rides, and will always let you know when someone is at the door. No apartments please. Montee thrives on routine and prefers a quiet, predictable home. Dinner is at 5:00 PM sharp, and as an older gent he’ll need frequent potty breaks throughout the day. Montee has a few lipomas that don’t bother him, but he prefers to be gently cradled rather than picked up around his belly. He’s a true shadow dog who likes to keep tabs on his people at all times. He must go to a home with no young kids. He currently lives with a laid-back cat and a bunch of little dogs and does well, and has lived with a larger lab brother. He prefers women and may take a little time to warm up to men. Montee is a wonderful, loyal companion looking for a calm home to spend his golden years. Meet Ebony and Ivory — the sweetest bonded duo ready to bring double the cuddles to their forever home! Ebony is a black Cairn Terrier mix and Ivory is a Maltese Shih Tzu mix. These two girls arrived at the shelter together as strays and have been inseparable ever since. Both are incredibly cuddly, friendly, and love everyone they meet — people, dogs, kids, and cats alike, especially with proper introductions. They are active girls who also enjoy being held and taking cozy naps. They ride well in the car and make great travel companions. Ebony is wonderful with potty training, while Ivory is still working on it and may have occasional accidents. Both are slightly escape artists with limited recall, so a secure, physically fenced yard and careful containment — especially in the beginning — will be important for their safety. Our best guess is that both girls are roughly 2 to 4 years old, based on their teeth and body condition.
