Someone dumped this bonded pair of gals severely matted and full of fleas. They are very happy now that they have been groomed. They are in a foster home with another foo foo dog. They are kinda shy and timid at first but bond to people. They are crate trained and leash trained. They use a doggie door to go into back yard that is securely fenced. They love hanging out with people and on the furniture. This bonded pair will require a securely fenced yard and frequent grooming. San Antonio area has over 800,000 homeless pets. We save homeless and abandoned dogs and find them loving forever homes in other areas, where pet homelessness is not epidemic. All of our pets are located here, in San Antonio, and we partner with rescues to provide transportation for our pets to their new homes. Our adoption fee includes vet care (vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchipping, etc), as well as transportation and health certificate. Please contact us to ask about our adoption process and our adoption fees.

Story
Meet KevinRetired. Relaxed. Ready to Be Your Tiny Best Friend.Kevin has exactly three goals in life:Follow his favorite people.Sample every snack you have.Find the sunniest spot in the yard and pretend he's on vacation.Frankly, he's absolutely crushing all three. This 8-year-old, 6-pound Maltese was found wandering the streets of Georgia, somehow surviving on his own until a kind family took him in and searched for his owner. No one ever came.Which is honestly unbelievable. Because Kevin is the kind of dog people spend years hoping to find. He's sweet. He's gentle. He's funny without trying. He loves every person, every dog, every cat, and approaches life with the attitude that everyone is probably going to be his friend.Golden Retrievers that outweigh him by 80 pounds? No problem.Cats? "Nice to meet you."Complete strangers? "Welcome! I've been expecting you."Kevin is basically the mayor of Tinyville. His foster home has two huge Golden Retrievers and another dog, yet Kevin happily toddles right into the middle of the pack like he's been running the neighborhood watch for years. If the wrestling gets a little too rowdy, he simply excuses himself like the distinguished gentleman he is."I'll be over here...not getting body slammed."Smart choice, Kevin.Every morning begins with what may be the greatest thing you'll ever witness.Kevin wakes up... Stands up... Shakes with his whole tiny body... Shakes so enthusiastically that he occasionally tips completely over... Then pops right back up with the biggest smile and a wagging tail as if to say, "Nailed it."It's impossible not to laugh.Kevin also believes personal space is highly overrated. If you're making coffee... He's supervising.Doing laundry... He's helping.Walking to another room... He's already halfway there. Not because he's needy. Because life is simply more fun together. His favorite hobby is serving as the Chief Snack Quality Assurance Officer.Chicken? Approved.Cheese? Exceptional.Dog treats? Five stars.Random crumb that fell on the floor? Outstanding culinary experience. He's still putting a little healthy weight back on after his days as a stray, and he's fully committed to the assignment.Kevin's activity level falls somewhere between "pleasant neighborhood stroll" and "professional sunbather." Give him a Hawaiian shirt, a beach chair, and a tiny umbrella drink (filled with water, of course), and he'd happily spend the afternoon convincing everyone retirement is underrated. He enjoys walks, exploring with his people, and lounging wherever the sunshine happens to land. His only complaints in life? Cars are suspicious. Crates are unnecessary.Everything else? He's remarkably easygoing.Kevin is housebroken as long as you keep him on a schedule, rarely barks, doesn't shed, and sleeps like a little gentleman—starting the night beside your bed before wandering off to whichever cozy dog bed looks most appealing. His bloodwork showed mildly elevated kidney values when he first entered rescue, likely due to whatever life looked like before he was found. He's now eating a kidney-support diet along with supplements, and we're hopeful those numbers continue to improve. Otherwise, Kevin is healthy, happy, and ready to write the best chapter of his life.Kevin's Résumé:Professional shadowCertified lap warmerSnack connoisseurFriend to dogs, cats, and humans alikeLow-maintenance roommateSunshine enthusiastHawaiian shirt model10/10 adorable face (seriously...have you seen it?)Kevin doesn't need adventure. He doesn't need excitement. He doesn't need a mansion. He just needs someone who'll let him tag along through life's ordinary moments. Morning coffee. An afternoon walk. A cozy nap. A few treats. A soft bed. Someone to love. After surviving life on the streets, Kevin has decided those ordinary moments are actually extraordinary. And if you ask him, the best vacation isn't somewhere tropical. It's finally being home.Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Story
Thimble may look like a tiny, shy little puppy in her pictures, but don't let the camera fool you. The moment the camera comes out, Thimble suddenly becomes bashful. Put the camera away, though, and she turns right back into the happy, spunky little puppy she really is. At around 3 months old and weighing only about 3 pounds, Thimble spends her days bouncing from dog to cat to dog, playing with everyone she meets. She gets the cutest little zoomies and approaches life with the joyful confidence that only puppies seem to have. She is a sweet little Maltese mix who gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats. Her tiny size makes her extra adorable, but she has enough personality packed into those 3 pounds to keep everyone smiling. Because of her young age and tiny size, Thimble has not yet been spayed. Her adopter will need to provide proof of spay in 2027 once she is old enough and large enough for the procedure. Good fit: someone looking for a tiny, playful puppy who will bring lots of fun, affection, and laughter into their home. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Due to her age and size, she has not yet been spayed. Adopter must provide proof of spay in 2027. Adoption fee: $550 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, Think you might be a good fit? Story
Crimson is being fostered in VA. Crimson is blind and has kidney disease. Crimson Update – April 1, 2026: Crimson has settled into his foster home, making friends with his foster parents and the four other blind dogs who live in the home. He now knows all about evening sofatime with his foster mom and the other pups, and, after a belly and head rub, takes a nap. He is doing a great job learning to go up and down the two steps from the deck into the yard and then back into the house again. And, with the warmer weather, he likes to take a quick roll in the grass when he goes out to do his business. Crimson does have dry eye now, so is on daily Optimmune (eye ointment). He does a very good job at medication time. For more information about this sweet boy, read what his foster home wrote about him in February 2026. See below. Crimson is a friendly little guy who loves belly rubs! If you would like to know more about this special pup, read on! Crimson is from Florida. His family could no longer care for him and so they turned him over to the Blind Dog Rescue Alliance. He traveled to his Virginia BDRA foster home in January 2026 and made friends all along the way. Crimson has settled into his foster home quite well! There are four other blind dogs in the home and Crimson gets along just fine with each of them. He is happy to share a bed and doesn’t mind if a dog bumps into him. He ignores the family cat. At night, he settles easily into his bed and sleeps through the night. He is housetrained – not a single accident yet! He has a deep bark and, when he first arrived, he barked fairly often but now that he is learning the routine, he barks only occasionally (usually when anticipating a meal!). As mentioned, he loves belly rubs and he enjoys head rubs too. He also likes toys. Crimson is blind, diagnosed with SARDS several years ago. SARDS (Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome) is a condition that causes rapid and irreversible blindness due to changes within the retina. In addition, he arrived at his foster home with ear infections that are in the process of being treated. He hears well though and he doesn’t let his blindness bother him at all. His eyes are currently healthy although he does have some clear discharge at times. Crimson also has been diagnosed with kidney disease/kidney failure along with high blood pressure. He is on a prescription kidney diet (Purina) and also on Benazepril twice a day. We don’t know all the details about Crimson’s medical history before he arrived at his foster home and – as is true with any rescue dog – we can’t predict what the future holds for his health. Anyone interested in adopting Crimson should first speak with their vet about canine kidney disease so there is an understanding of this disease, its progression, and how it is treated. Crimson has not spent time with children and, although he is such a nice dog, he should be adopted into a home with older children or adults only. And he should always be supervised when he is with young children, as all dogs should be. If you think you can provide this sweet, gentle dog the wonderful forever home he deserves, complete an application today! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
