Georgie lost everything she knew--her family, her home, her whole world--to a house fire two months ago. Because her family had no place for her to go, they had to leave her behind in the ruins of the house for weeks. Imagine how scary that must have been for her: all alone, no electricity, no running water, in a house destroyed by fire, in the Kansas heat, getting food and water once a day if she was lucky. Our mission now is to help give Georgie a new start, in a new home, with a patient, kind family who will help her belong again. Georgie is a friendly goofball of a dog who loves people. She'll need a minute to trust again, so give her a chance to get to know you. Once she does, you and Georgie will be friends for life. She's silly and fun and enjoys running around and playing with her toys, especially if you join in! Georgie loves other dogs and has done well with cats, too. As much as Georgie likes playing, she also knows how to chill with her people, including being the best snuggler ever. Sometimes, Georgie even thinks she's a lap puppy. As you can see from her pictures, Georgie is not a small dog. She's about three years old, so fully grown, and she's a big girl! Story
Ruger is a 2 year old Mastiff/Golden Retriever mix (born February 7, 2024). He is deeply loved, and this has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family. Our hope is to find him the perfect home where he can thrive. Ruger has been raised in the country and is happiest with plenty of room to run and play. Because of his strong prey drive, he is not suitable for a home with livestock, especially chickens. He also does best as the only dog, or potentially with the right female dog, as he can be selective with other dogs, particularly males. He absolutely loves people and is a gentle giant with adults and children. He has a big personality, lots of energy, and enjoys being part of the family. Ruger is house trained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and over 80 pounds (and still thinks he’s a lap dog!) We’re looking for a loving, responsible home that understands large breed dogs and can give Ruger the attention, exercise, and space he deserves.

Mildred is a gentle, resilient girl who has already come such a long way since coming into care. When she first arrived, she was extremely underweight, but with proper care, she has gained healthy weight and continues to show just how strong she is. Mildred is dog friendly and would do best with a calm, respectful canine companion who understands personal space. She is also kid friendly. Mildred is approximately 90% blind. She can see movement but primarily navigates the world through shadows, sounds, and her other senses. Despite her limited vision, she does remarkably well and is learning to confidently navigate her surroundings. Because of her needs, Mildred is looking for a family where someone can be home with her most of the time. She needs frequent opportunities to go outside to help prevent accidents in the house. She will also need patience as she learns the layout and routine of her new home. Mildred is heartworm negative, has completed her treatment, and is spayed and ready for adoption. Mildred is ready for a peaceful home where she can enjoy the simple things: soft beds, gentle companionship, a consistent routine, and plenty of love. She has overcome so much and now just needs someone willing to give her the safe, loving forever home she deserves.

Rojo, who's available through City of Raytown Animal Services, is a lovely 4-year-old red and black smaller (approximately 60 pounds) mastiff mix. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who also gets along well with other dogs, does well with kiddos, and takes treats sooo gently. Rojo loves playing with toys! He will require the tough toys for sure; he loves jolly balls, tough chews, playing ball, rolling in the mud, and then he's ready for snuggles and a snack! He did great on his walk and was a perfect gentleman! If you would like to meet this great-looking boy, stop by Raytown Animal Services at 10312 E. 63rd St., Raytown, Missouri, during regular business hours, or call them at 816-737-7025.
