Tomo was adopted from nycacc emergency placement under the pretense that he was there for medical issues (pneumonia) and not behavioral. He is medically sound now but he is reactive to dogs and people on walks and resource guards. He needs a home with an experienced owner that can give him structure and proper training for him to thrive and become a great companion!

Story
Looking for a big bundle of love and energy? Apollo is your guy! This 80lb goofball came to us from the ACC where he had been found as a stray and brought in. He was terrified there, shaking and freezing when they would try to walk him. We had already agreed to help another dog from there, but when we saw how quietly and patiently he was sitting there, just waiting for someone to notice him, we knew we had to help him too! Medically, he came to us in some rough shape. He had pretty bad skin and an ear infection, so it seemed likely he had skin allergies - after changing his diet and treatment for his ear, he was already doing much better! He also came to us with a big mass on his back leg that we removed thinking that it was very possibly cancer. Fortunately, it turned out to be not cancer, but scar tissue! Our vet suspects that the scar tissue formed from being shot, and had noticed something suspiciously shaped like a bb gun pellet. He is now fully healed up and has gotten over his fear, so we are able to see his true personality is showing through! This big guy is an absolute sweetheart and bonds extremely closely with his people, but based on what we’ve seen, we think it is unlikely he’s ever lived indoors or experienced the love of a family before. He is a high energy dog who would do best in an active home without any young children (mostly because he is likely to accidentally knock them over in his excitement). He has been doing great in his housebreaking and we are actively working on his separation anxiety and he has come leaps and bounds from where he was when he first arrived. Because of his energy levels and how he was in the ACC around other dogs, we are looking to place him as an only pet. If you are interested in adopting Apollo, you can fill out an application for him on our website, waywardranch.org!

Story
Do not look directly into those eyes, unless you want your heart to melt! This little girl is truly one in a million. She has the perfect balance of energy and calm sweetness. While she can be rambunctious, she is highly engaged and willing to please. She is ready for hours of cuddling, an adventurous walk, or a rough and tumble play session. Dumplin is still working on potty training and has periods of puppy-like mouthiness, but with proper guidance and patience, she will grow into the perfect family member!   APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  26 ESTIMATED DOB: 11/16/2023   GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS:  yes GOOD WITH KIDS:  yes GOOD WITH CATS:  unknown REQUIRES A FENCE:  no ACTIVITY LEVEL:  med-high LIKES TO VOCALIZE:   SPECIAL NEEDS:  no BREED EXPERIENCE NEEDED:  no APPROPRIATE PLACEMENT FOR 1ST TIME DOG OWNER?  yes FREE OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS OFFERED WITH ALL DOG ADOPTIONS &#226&#128&#139Please note that we are often asked if dogs are "house trained".  The dogs are in fact living in a kennel environment during their time with us.  Even if they have previously lived in a home and been trained - the stress of the change and the new home can sometimes cause regression and require some additional training.  We feel that it's best for all adopters to be prepared for this possibility. Visit our adoption page for details about our process, and to fill out an adoption application.  All animals come spayed/neutered, UTD on vaccines, and microchipped.  If the animals age or health prevents any of these from being completed prior to adoption a voucher is issued for the services to be performed.  If you have any questions about the animal, or our adoption process, please email adopt@littleguild.org.  The Little Guild is a 501c(3) federally recognized non-profit organization devoted to saving the lives of homeless pets.  March 26, 2024, 1:46 pm
