Story
Holly is a STUNNING 7 year old, 124 lb purebred Saint Bernard. Rescued from a puppy mill after a life as a breeding mom, this girl could not be sweeter! She is wonderful with other dogs of all sizes, goats, donkeys, horses, and even chickens. Although she initially didn't know what treats, toys, or beds were, she has progressed beautifully in her foster home. Her playful side comes out a little more each day and is absolutely precious! True to her breed, she is loyal and very gentle. She adores her humans and loves to be pet. Best of all, you don't have to bend down to reach her! Holly is housetrained, great on leash, comes when called, and is working on basic commands. She rides well in the car and enjoys being outside but is just as happy to hang out indoors. She is extremely quiet and doesn't get into things in the house. Holly still needs to put on some weight and is having surgery for her eyelids. She is more than ready to start her new life though and can't wait to settle in a loving forever home. You won't find a better or more deserving girl than Holly! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Ziggy is loving, fun, and well trained. Parents are purebred St. Bernard and Standard Poodle, from a breeder in MS, born 9/26/2020. After we had twins, as Ziggy matured, he started having leash reactivity in the neighborhood. At home, we have frequent visitors, and Ziggy is enthusiastic and loving once introduced. He once did snap at a child that came at him too roughly. He also once got out of our backyard (gate was left open) and bit a neighborhood dog, who needed stitches. He used to have doggy playdates, and though those always went well, we decided to stop as a precaution. This decision has been tremendously difficult. We love Ziggy. We've put a lot of effort into training and medicating him (currently on gabapentin and clomipramine). As our kids get older, we will be unable to adequately mitigate the chance of Ziggy getting let out. We are hoping to home Ziggy with folks that have a more remote space to let Ziggy run around, and ideally where we can keep in touch with him.

Story
Meet Scooby, an 8 month old puppy with an endearing personality. He is super sweet and a little nervous so he appreciates people that are patient enough to let him warm up a bit. I mean, all good things are worth a little bit of a wait....Scooby's affections is absolutely one of them! He loves other dogs and would do best in a home with another dog to show him how to roll. He loves to give kisses and will roll over for belly rubs. His zest for life is infectious, and he has a knack for making everyday moments feel special. With Scooby, there's never a dull moment. He's not just a pet, he's a friend who'll stick by your side, making you laugh and giving you all the love he has to offer. Adopt Scooby and let him fill your life with joy, laughter, and unconditional love. Scooby Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event! The adoption fee is $600 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
Huck is a yr old and weighs about 45 lbs. He is happy to meet people, plays really well with others & is very submissive in his meeting of new furry friends. He's a goof ball at heart and will make you laugh at his facial expressions. He is working on his house manners & will need some more training because he still likes to jump up for attention. Little ones that fall over easy might get knocked over in his excitement, but older sturdy kids should get in line to adopt this sweetheart because he is going to be the more fun best friend a kid could hope for. He is smart and treat motived so training him will be really rewarding. Huck is an all around great dog and he is going to make a great addition to his new family. Huck is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested neg for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!
