At a tender age of 3 months old, Maple has already endured her share of hardship. Dumped on the side of a rural road along with her siblings, Maple and her siblings were rescued by a good Samaritan. This little family was brought to a foster home where they waited for an opportunity to be transferred to a rescue(s). Sadly, this foster home was overcrowded with strays. Maple witnessed one of her siblings being attacked by a bigger dog and died from his injuries. Except for feeding times, human interaction was scarce. It is no surprise that Maple was shy with people upon arriving at Buckeye’s, but the good news is she is coming out of her shell and seeks human affections now. Maple is so sweet and you can tell she just wants to love and be loved. Maple does well with dogs. Maple is a 3.5-month-old Mastiff mix. She is looking for a home who can devote time to building her confidence and guiding her through life. We know Maple will blossom and get to live the life that she deserves. A family with older children is preferred due to her shyness.

He’ll play fetch until the cows come home. This boy brings the ball back and patiently waits for it to be thrown again. He also chases birds and small animals so no cats for Moosey Goosey! Moose loves the outdoors. He’ll literally hang out outside all day if you let him. Moose is 4.5 years old, 75lb Mix breed. He is looking for an adult only home due to his initial distrust of people he does not know. Moose is terrified of the world. He is hoping his new family will be patient and show him how to trust. He yearns to be understood, gain confidence and freely love and trust. He is fiercely loyal and protective of the ones he loves but getting there is a journey. Rufus is a 3 1/2-year-old Male Shepherd mix. He was found as a stray on Carlton rd. His favorite game to play is fetch, and he is VERY treat motivated. Rufus is also a professional at tearing up his stuffed animals! He also knows sit, lie down, and paw! Rufus would highly benefit from some professional training. He can be very mouthy and does not like putting on a leash. He also can be very picky with the other dogs here at the shelter. So, we recommend a home with no other dogs. Rufus is a dog that you will need to come in and spend a lot of time with so he can get familiar with you. Dogs are available to meet before their adoption date. The Dog Shelter's adoption fee is $64 (cash or check). All dogs come with DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, microchipped, a current year dog license, and a certificate to be spayed or neutered (The Dog Shelter pays for it). If it is an owner surrender dog, more vaccine information may be provided. Our hours are Monday thru Friday 10AM-12:30PM and 1PM-4PM and Saturdays 10AM to 2PM. You must be present to adopt and have a current approved adoption application.
