FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks! --- Meet Ellie! She and her siblings are pretty happy puppies. Ellie is a beautiful red color with the touch of brindle. Ellie is all the great things in a puppy - floppy, silly and sweet. She has met dogs, cats and kids and has done great. We are working on crate training and all kinds of puppy training. We got the puppies from a local shelter who said they are Boerboel / Mastiff mixes. But we didn't think they were HUGE puppies and so the DNA was sent... drum rolll please... MUTTS!! 15 different breeds - a couple different mastiffs and even bulldog! But it explains why at almost 20 weeks, they only weigh between 35-40# pounds. DNA is guessing between 70-100#, definitely large breed. We think very big dog experience, a large fenced yard and even another dog for a playmate would be wonderful. They will knock over little kids, as they have very little spacial awareness and are soft, furry wrecking balls! :) This puppy is spayed, microchipped and fully vaccinated. Being a puppy, they will need lots of training, including housebreaking. Remember, puppies are cute, but they have sharp teeth, need to be fed 3 times a day and poop... a lot! The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning a rescue dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training. Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt requires a training contract and $100 refundable deposit (depending on previous dog experience) on our larger breed puppies. You pick a trainer in your area, and upon completion of a 6+ week training class, we will refund the deposit. Adoptions typically take place in Stanwood. Adoption fee is $475. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible. Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home. Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.

New Socks is a 60lb neutered male Mastiff mix. He is described to be friendly, ball driven, active and playful. Don`t hold his age against him, he has plenty of life left to live. He would benefit from a home that understands the Mastiff breed.

Story
Meet Duke, a loving dog rescued from an abusive home in 2015. Despite his past, Duke is the most affectionate dog we’ve known, with a big heart and a love for people and attention. He’s in great shape, very puppy-like, and has no health concerns. Duke gets along wonderfully with people and dogs, thriving in our home with three kids under five and four dogs. The three non-service dogs, including Duke and Peso, get along well but show growing jealousy toward the service dog due to its special attention. Both are healthy, well-behaved, and seem younger than their age with many years left. We’re sadly considering rehoming Duke and possibly Peso, wonderful companions and a great pair. We’re heartbroken but want them to thrive. If we can’t find a home, we’ll manage, but we hope to avoid the worst case. If you can welcome these dogs, we’d be grateful.

Story
Finley is a two year spayed female Mastiff mix/American Bully. We have had her since she was 10 weeks old. We adopted her from a friend who had an “accidental” litter. She has been raised with a 5 year old Cane Corso/American Bulldog and a 10 year old Shih Tzu. When we got Finley, we had a 5 year old cat. When Finley was about 1 year old she was startled by the cat and responded by grabbing her around the neck, which ultimately killed our cat. We thought (hoped) this would be a one time occurrence because she was so young. Finley has now started becoming very jealous of our Shih Tzu and has started bullying him. She has snapped at him and made attempts to bite him. We feel we need to rehome Finley to a home where she can be the only pet and be the center of attention. She is a very loving, snuggly, and affectionate. It is breaking our hearts to do this.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED! Say hello to Tiger! He is a loving and sweet ~3yo, ~90lb Mastiff/Shepherd mix who is ready to find his forever home. He came to us as a stray from a high kill shelter in CA. Tiger is a wonderful boy and has a great demeanor. He is super loving with everyone he meets and very gentle. He walks wonderful on leash and will make a great dog for his forever family! He has been good with other dogs in our care. We think he would do just fine with kids, but he is not tested with cats. Tiger is neutered, UTD on shots and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450.
