Story
Mouse - Mini Wirehaired Dachshund Mix - Female - 2 Years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit our website at www.Twyla.org Are you looking for a dog who follows you around so closely you’ll never be able to enter a room alone again? How about a dog who practically teleports into your lap the second you sit down? If so, Mouse is your girl. All she wants is to be wherever you are. Mouse is about 2 years old, likely a Miniature Wirehaired Dachshund and Chihuahua Mix, she is filling out at around 8 lbs. Mouse is happy to just relax most of the day, but as she decompresses in her foster home, her foster mom has been excited to see more and more zoomies and play sessions breaking out throughout the day. Mouse has been through a lot in her few years and that’s left her nervous around men and a little jumpy in general. For that reason, we don’t think she would be a good fit for an apartment or townhouse where walls are shared because new/unexpected noise have her barking and running for the hills. We think she would do best in a quite home with a confident four-legged friend to help her learn that she doesn’t need to be afraid anymore. Mouse bonds very quickly to women, and we believe she will warm up to a calm man as well, as long as he is patient and willing to offer lots of treats. She loves children, but we would prefer them to be a little older, so she doesn’t get hurt since she is so small. Mouse does well in a crate and in the car. She is working on potty training and gets it right about 80% of the time. She really wants to please but has a very small bladder and we don’t think she’s had much practice learning to hold it prior to being in her foster home. ***Please note: All dogs are fostered in private homes of volunteers, so to meet a dog please fill out an Adoption Application on our website (http://www.twyla.org/adopt/our-adoption-process) so we may setup a private meetup with the dog or coordinate for an Introduction at the next general Adoption Meet and Greet (as listed on our website: (http://www.twyla.org/upcoming-events), as not all dogs attend all Meet and Greets***

Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 8th of each month Wendy arrived at CTDR with her beloved best friend, Peter Pan, and the two are deeply bonded and must be adopted together. Wendy is a beautiful red longhair girl who has completed her vetting and is ready, along with Peter Pan, for a foster home or forever home. She is a very timid and docile girl with a kind, gentle heart. Wendy loves attention and cuddles and is happiest when being held. She prefers the company of Peter Pan over other dogs and enjoys going on walks with him, and she can experience separation anxiety if they are apart. Wendy enjoys sunbathing outdoors, never turns down a treat, and is leash trained, crate trained, and baby gate trained. She is still working on her potty habits and tends to follow Peter Pan’s lead, but continues to make progress. If you would like to welcome Wendy and Peter Pan into your family, please complete an adoption application at www.ctdr.org. Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 22nd of each monthNugget is a truly sweet little dog whose quirks are well understood and very manageable. He has limited hearing and vision, so he experiences the world mostly through his sense of smell and moves through his environment slowly and thoughtfully. He enjoys calm walks, sunny afternoons outside, and cuddling in your lap. Nugget can be shy at first and may express nervousness with a soft crying bark, but once he feels safe, he responds warmly to affection with tail wags and excitement. He sometimes walks in gentle circles to self-soothe, happily wears a calming jacket, and is currently working on house training while wearing a belly band, which he tolerates well. Nugget has lived successfully in a home for extended periods and does well with small dogs, including his foster siblings Duncan the dachshund and Sophie the Chiweenie, though he remains afraid of large dogs. He sleeps, eats, and settles easily into a predictable routine, takes his prescribed steroid medication without issue, and thrives with patience and consistency. Update: Nugget has returned to CTDR through no fault of his own and will begin his vetting process before heading to a foster home. Nugget will do best with a calm, understanding family who can appreciate his gentle nature and embrace his manageable quirks. If you would like to give Nugget the loving home he deserves, please complete an adoption application at www.ctdr.org.
