Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 27th of each month China is a new arrival to CTDR.  This sweet girl was part of an 80 dog breeding- hoarding situation.  She is very scared and nervous as she cannot understand what is going on. China has completed her initial vetting but sadly she did test positive for those nasty heartworms and will need to go through treatment before she can be adopted. She is a big girl and will need to go on Weight Watchers to lose a few pounds.  If you would like to add China to your family, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org. Story
ProHeart Injection was given on 8/10/2025 Meet Rosie, a new arrival to CTDR.  The sweet young girl was found walking the streets of North Texas and taken to the nearest shelter.  Poor Rosie has a lots of hair loss on her belly and her legs and neck.  At first the vets thought it might be demodex mange, ( this is not the contagious one) or a flea allergy but both were ruled out and she was diagnosed with Atopic Dermatitis which is an allergic skin condition which can be caused by grass, certain dog foods etc.  She has been started on several medications to help with the hair loss, the skin and the itchiness.  You can see where her hair is coming back in her underneath area.  Rosie has had all of her vaccines and has been spayed and is ready for a forever home.  She will need to stay on her medications and get regular oatmeal baths until her skin has cleared up.  If interested in Miss Rosie, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org. Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 8th of each month Wendy and her best friend, Peter Pan are new arrivals to CTDR.  These two are very bonded and must be adopted together.  Wendy is a beautiful 4 year old red longhair girl who has completed her vetting process and she and Peter Pan are ready for their foster home or forever home.  Wendy is very timid and docile, but very kind. She loves attention and cuddles and her favorite thing is to be held. She prefers to only be with Peter Pan rather than other dogs, prefers walks with him and will have separation anxiety if she is away from him.  Wendy loves to be outside and sunbathe and she will never pass up a treat.  Wendy will also pick up Peter's habits and would prefer not to potty outside but is working on going in the yard.  She is leash trained, crate trained and baby gate trained.  If you would like to have Wendy and Peter Pan become a part of your family, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org. Story
Heartworm Prevention is given on the 29th of each month Meet Mr. Grumbles, the first new dog for CTDR in 2026.  This senior boy was found wandering around and was taken to the local shelter and of course no one came for him and CTDR could not let him stay in the shelter.  He is neutered and fully vetted but will need an extensive dental once his blood work comes back.  Most of his teeth are already missing and he has a couple of root abscesses.  He has some arthritis and walks very slowly but his favorite thing to do is to just sit in your lap and be held.  He has a very sweet and easy-going personality.  He is a little talker and such a sweet boy.  Could you be the family that gives him a home where he can lay in  a soft bed for the rest of his golden years?  If so, please complete an application at www.ctdr.org.
