Story
Bella is a 2-year-old Miniature Pinscher who was rescued from Harbor Animal Shelter on the day she was scheduled for euthanasia. Bella was surrendered by her previous owner after an alleged bite incident in which she reportedly redirected while being picked up. Based on that history, she was placed on the euthanasia list. Since coming into our care, however, Bella has shown us a completely different side of her personality. She is an affectionate little lap dog who loves to cuddle, give kisses, and be close to her people. Bella is social with other small dogs, rides beautifully in the car, is incredibly smart, and has a happy, outgoing personality. She loves meeting new people and has quickly become a favorite among our staff and volunteers. Because of her reported history, we are looking for an adopter who understands that dogs can behave differently in different environments and who is willing to continue setting Bella up for success. We believe she deserves to be judged by who she is today, not just by one incident from her past. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion with lots of personality, come meet Bella. She deserves the chance to show you just how special she is.

Story
Felipe is a rescue from a family that abandoned him twice. He has severe anxiety from this situation and attached to Me very fast. His anxious behaviors have grown since we got him a few months back, to the point he stopped listening to my wife and chooses to hide or stay put if I am not home. He also does not like male dogs, on walks he turns extremely aggressive and will take any opportunity to go after them he can get. Although with younger male dogs he shows none of the aggression. He only pees if he is marking his territory around the area we live, he has had multiple instances of peeing in his crate and even pooping because of this. We believe he needs an older family who can be a constant presence in his life with patience and sole focus. He does not do well in sharing attention… at all. We have given it our best and have given him lots of time to settle but it seems to have only caused the situation with his anxiety to increase due to me never being home. We wish him happiness

Story
April, 3, 2026, we saved Jeff, #a2260529, now Celebrity. This sweet 10 year old mini pin was brought to the east valley shelter as a stray on March 9, 2026.  He has typical senior dog issues like cloudy eyes and dental disease. But his biggest issue is, he has a perianal hernia. We knew no one else was going to take this dog. luckily, we found a foster and we were able to rescue him!  Celebrity already saw our vet, and we're going to make an appointment with the surgeon, hopefully, for next week. Once he has recovered he will be available for adoption. He had a great first night of freedom. The foster said he was very hungry and very thirsty. He drank a lot, and he ate a lot. He then he had a nice deep sleep as dogs do when they know they're finally safe. we're so happy we can give Celebrity the best of the rest of his life  ##2753464##

Story
Name: Hazel - CALGARY!!! Age: 1 year Sex: Spayed Female Spayed: Yes Breed: Miniature Pinscher mix Color: Black / Brown Weight: 3.6 kg Height (shoulder): 23 cm   Rescue Story   Hazel was rescued from a severe animal hoarding situation where dozens of dogs were found living together in poor conditions. All of the dogs were taken to a city shelter, and Hazel was fortunately rescued before her situation became worse. She is now safe and slowly learning what life with people can be like.   ‍‍ Socialization with People   Hazel can be a little shy at first, but when someone calls her she will approach and happily settle into their arms. Because she grew up in a hoarding environment, she tends to be more cautious about new environments than people. In unfamiliar places, she often looks to humans for reassurance and comfort.   She has not met children under 13 yet, but we do not expect major issues. She can be picked up by placing an arm under her belly, and once she becomes comfortable with someone she will even roll over to show her belly.   Socialization with Other Dogs   Since Hazel grew up with many dogs, she is used to living with them and often seeks comfort from the dogs she grew up with. They tend to sleep together in a little group, although she hasn’t shown a lot of playful interaction yet.   She may feel uncomfortable around larger dogs but is generally friendly with dogs of a similar or smaller size. If another dog challenges her, she prefers to avoid conflict and will simply move away.   With Cats   Her reaction to cats has not been observed yet, but a test can be arranged if needed.   Energy Level   Hazel has a low energy level and enjoys spending most of her time resting calmly.   Walks   She has not had much experience outside yet. When something unfamiliar appears, she may tremble out of fear. However, once she forms a strong bond with her person, she tends to follow them closely, which may make walks easier as her confidence grows.   Additional Notes   Hazel does not guard food from either people or other dogs. She currently does not show severe separation anxiety, but because of her hoarding background and strong bonds with the dogs she lived with, some initial adjustment may occur when separated from them.   She rarely barks, although she may bark along if other dogs start barking. She stays calm when placed in a kennel and is currently pad trained. Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram!
