Story
Meet Lily and Scarlett, a delightful 9-year-old Miniature Pinscher duo. These loving ladies have been cherished by their owner since they were puppies. However, due to health challenges, their owner is now seeking a new home where they can continue to thrive together. Lily and Scarlett are small, gentle dogs (around 10 lbs each) who adore snuggling under blankets in their crate. They’re unbothered by storms or fireworks and are well-mannered, with no chewing habits. While they prefer a calm, low-key lifestyle over high-energy play, they do enjoy regular potty breaks, making them a great fit for a home where someone is available to take them out every few hours. If you’re looking for cuddly companions and are ready to welcome both Lily and Scarlett into your life, they could be the perfect addition to your family. Interested in adopting? Story
Meet Godiva – Small Dog, Big Personality, Endless Fun! If you're looking for a dog who’s equal parts energy and affection, Godiva is your girl! She may be small in size, but she’s got the heart and spirit of a big dog. While she can be shy at first with new people, once trust is built, Godiva will become your loyal shadow and personal foot warmer. This playful pup thrives on: • Long hikes and outdoor adventures • Intense games of tug-of-war • Zooming around the yard-- agility dog anyone? • Brain games and puzzle toys And when the fun is done? Godiva knows how to switch gears. She’s a pro at finding a cozy spot and will happily curl up beside you to relax and recharge. She is housebroken, crate trained, walks well on leash, and currently working on becoming more comfortable with car rides. With continued patience and positive experiences, she’s learning that car rides often lead to exciting new places! Social Skills & Foster Experience Godiva has been successfully fostered with both a small dog and a cat. She showed respectful behavior, and when her foster siblings weren't in the mood to play, she redirected her energy toward toys instead. When properly introduced, she’s also done well meeting other small dogs—playing and sharing toys and food without resource guarding from humans or other dogs. Who She's Looking For Godiva will thrive with an experienced dog owner who understands the traits common to her likely breed mix of Miniature Pinscher and Dachshund. As a likely former stray, Godiva may interpret the world as unpredictable or even unsafe—but with the right support, that story can be rewritten. Through consistent reconditioning and positive reinforcement, she’s learning that new experiences, people, and places don't have to be scary. She'll benefit from slow, positive introductions to new people and dogs to help her build healthy confidence. With patience and encouragement, Godiva is beginning to build a healthier, more confident narrative of the world. Due to her excitable, mouthy play style, Godiva would do best in a home with children aged 12 and up. She responds beautifully to positive reinforcement, high-value treats, praise, and patient reconditioning. Why Godiva? Because she’s the total package: devoted, attentive, adventurous, and just the right amount of spunk! In the right home, Godiva will blossom into the most loyal and loving companion you could ask for.

Story
Min pin mixes. 6 yrs, approx 15 lbs, Beckham and Cooper were adopted as puppies and returned to us as adults.  They are now 6 yrs old.  They were returned because the couple was having a baby. The boys have been with us since and are boarded in a Cagefree facility. After only being with each other for 6 years, we decided to socialize them a little with other dogs.  They are happy and doing great.  They love to go on long walks and hikes.  They are calm  dogs who can be playful. They just need a house with a yard and lots of love.  They have been together since puppyhood and we would like to try to keep them together. It also makes it easy for a new home transition.  Come and meet them!!!   DUE TO COVID ADOPTIONS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! MEET AND GREETS AVAILABLE. Adoptions are held every SATURDAY from 1PM – 4PM at the PETCO at 8161 BEVERLY BLVD at La Jolla (1/2 mile east of Beverly Center). Plenty of parking! Story
Hi I’m Debo, I was born October 31st 2020 I just turned 5 years old! I’m a miniature pinscher. I’m a really chill dog. I enjoy cuddling, warm blankets, and sun bathing. I love food! My favorite fruits are mangoes and bananas! I also love sweet potatoes. I get really happy on short hikes and long car rides. I do have environmental allergies and need allergy medicine and a special diet to help me stay the happy healthy good boy I am. I’m not too good with other dogs. I was attacked by another dog and have a really hard time feeling safe around them now. My current bestie can’t care for me the way I need her to anymore she’s not feeling well and wants to find a family that can love and welcome me in just as much as she has been. Somewhere quiet with people who make me feel safe. I would love to meet you! Bye, Debo

Story
COOKIE is a lovely adult-to-senior girl, 12 pounds, Miniature Pinscher whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Cookie and her four little companions, Shorty, Millie, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. Cookie's late dad probably did not realize that Cookie's left eye was swollen and didn't look right. We don't know exactly what happened to it, but veterinarians are thinking it was untreated uveitis leading to glaucoma that was no longer treatable with medicines. So poor Cookie had to have an enucleation--eye removal. We don't think her other eye was or will ever be involved as we don't know what was the underlying cause. It could have been injury to the eye rather than a systemic problem. Cookie can often be found burrowed in a blanket, and when we arrive starts to dig herself out! None of the pups appear to be serious barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats, because they were housemate with six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in loving new homes even when they won’t be staying together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Cookie (or Shorty, Millie, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).
