Story
Carmal is a sweet 1-year-old Miniature Pinscher–Dachshund mix who was found abandoned at Chumash Park in Agoura Hills alongside his brother. Both dogs were well groomed, leading us to believe they were sadly dumped. They had no collars, tags, or microchips and were not neutered. Thanks to a kind Good Samaritan who refused to look the other way, the brothers were kept safe while every effort was made to locate their family. After posters, shelter visits, and outreach to other rescues led nowhere, we stepped in to help give Carmal the future he deserves. Carmal weighs about 12 pounds and has a gentle, shy nature that truly shines once he’s given a little time to warm up. He’s an enthusiastic and playful boy who loves running around the backyard, playing with toys, and enjoying a happy rhythm of playtime followed by cozy naps—especially with his brother. He does well with other dogs and is crate trained. Carmal loves being near his people and is quite snuggly. He’s gentle, sweet, and affectionate, and happily gives kisses. He’s very trusting with his favorite people and is food-motivated, loving treats without being pushy or protective. While he’s not fully potty trained yet, he’s making progress. He also has a classic “shadow dog” personality and enjoys following his people from room to room. He gets along beautifully with other dogs, does great with kids, and enjoys soaking up both playtime and affection. Now neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, Carmal is ready for a patient, loving home where he can feel safe, cherished, and truly blossom. ----- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! At around 20 pounds, Toast Crunch may be a little shy at first, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality shines through. He’s friendly with other dogs, crate trained, and enjoys a nice balance of activity and downtime. He’s affectionate, gentle, and loves treats. He is highly food-motivated without being pushy or aggressive. While he’s still working on perfecting his potty training, he’s making steady progress. He’s also great with kids and other dogs. Hazel enjoys coffee shop hangs, being held, and meeting new people—she’s not people-shy at all. Curious and gentle, she loves people-watching on walks and does well with other pets, though she may be a little cautious around bigger dogs. Story
COOKIE is a lovely adult-to-senior girl, 12 pounds, Miniature Pinscher whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Cookie and her four little companions, Shorty, Millie, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. Cookie's late dad probably did not realize that Cookie's left eye was swollen and didn't look right. We don't know exactly what happened to it, but veterinarians are thinking it was untreated uveitis leading to glaucoma that was no longer treatable with medicines. So poor Cookie had to have an enucleation--eye removal. We don't think her other eye was or will ever be involved as we don't know what was the underlying cause. It could have been injury to the eye rather than a systemic problem. Cookie can often be found burrowed in a blanket, and when we arrive starts to dig herself out! None of the pups appear to be serious barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats, because they were housemate with six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in loving new homes even when they won’t be staying together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Cookie (or Shorty, Millie, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).

Story
HENRIETTE-URGENT-Sponsorship: Henriette is awaiting life-saving specialty surgery or radiation treatment (preferred) to remove a tumor on her thyroid gland. It is not malignant but causes an extremely high thyroid count. We were told that if it is not removed Henriette could die. Our regular veterinarians won’t do the surgery and referred us to several specialists for this very delicate surgery or equally difficult radiation which will cost $12,000 to $14,000. Even with an added 15% rescue discount, it is more money than we can ever raise. We have found a way to suppress the high thyroid count and it looks like it’s working, and requires daily medication and supplements. We are seeking help. We have run out of funds. We have spent over $2000 for all her diagnostics—specialty ultrasounds, blood panels, cardiology assessment at MASH, urinalysis and other needed tests, medications, holistic treatments and supplements which we are hoping will help. Henriette is also on expensive "Just Food For Dogs", and human grade food, is fed several times a day, and gets a whole host of supplements and vitamins. The Nature Network Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit, and we will provide a donation receipts for tax deductions. We rescued Henriette from the Orange County Animal Shelter, where she was out of time and living her final days. Henriette loves her doggy playmates and they and we would miss Hen terribly so we are doing everything humanely possible to keep her going, pain free of course. Henriette is spayed and current on her vaccinations. For more information about HENRIETTE, and if you or someone you know can help her, please contact us: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (Also our PayPal donation/sponsorship email address)

Story
Meet Lily and Scarlett, a delightful 9-year-old Miniature Pinscher duo. These loving ladies have been cherished by their owner since they were puppies. However, due to health challenges, their owner is now seeking a new home where they can continue to thrive together. Lily and Scarlett are small, gentle dogs (around 10 lbs each) who adore snuggling under blankets in their crate. They’re unbothered by storms or fireworks and are well-mannered, with no chewing habits. While they prefer a calm, low-key lifestyle over high-energy play, they do enjoy regular potty breaks, making them a great fit for a home where someone is available to take them out every few hours. If you’re looking for cuddly companions and are ready to welcome both Lily and Scarlett into your life, they could be the perfect addition to your family. Interested in adopting?
