Simon is a true Miniature Pinscher through and through: confident, alert, and full of that big-dog energy in a small body. He turns 3 years old on 1/11 and he is very ready for a forever home. He is smart, spirited, and very confident. He loves being part of the action and definitely thinks he should be the center of attention. Once he trusts you, he will form a strong, loyal bond. Simon needs an adult only home without other pets so he can be the star. He will do best with someone who understands the breed and enjoys a dog with personality and a little attitude. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 5 months as of 11/10/25 Weight:  8 lbs. as of 11/10/25 This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Sweet little Chalupa is ready for hugs. This tiny, 8-pound miniature pinscher/chihuahua mix is super chill on laps, in crates, or in cars, but don't let her laid back temperament fool you -- she's totally confident and unafraid of meeting new people, new dogs, and new experiences. A cuddler extraordinaire, Chalupa would love to be by your side on all your adventures, but she's also content to stay behind in her crate and await your return. She enjoys taking walks (she's easygoing on leash), squeaky toys, and romping in the yard. She still has some basic training to do, but this little chalupa is sure to become your new best friend.   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 15, 2025, 3:01 pm

Story
💖🐾 Meet Belle — The Couch Princess With a Heart of Gold (and Fewer Teeth to Brush)! 🐾💖 If perfection came with a wagging tail and a love of naps, it would look a lot like Belle. This 11-year-old, 22-pound bundle of sweetness is what happens when you combine “gentle grandma energy” with a sprinkle of sass and a strong commitment to couch time. Belle doesn’t bark (because she’s way too classy for that nonsense), gets along beautifully with dogs, and is assumed to love humans too — because, really, how could she not? Her foster mom says she’s so wonderful she’d keep her herself if the timing were right. That’s high praise from a seasoned pro! She’s mostly housebroken but, fair warning, she’s not a fan of marathon wait times when nature calls — 10+ hours is asking a bit much for any lady her age. Belle’s favorite hobbies include: 🛋️ Lounging on couches and cozy beds (preferably both). 🐕 Supervising household activities from a soft, elevated surface. 💋 Melting hearts with her gentle charm. She’s recovering beautifully after having 17 teeth removed — and though her snout’s a little puffy, her spirit’s as bright as ever. She may be a senior, but she’s still got some pep in her paws and plenty of love left to give. Belle recently went on a little field trip with a professional dog walker, and—no surprise here—she was a total sweetheart! 🩷 She handled the new environment like a pro. While she was a bit unsure at first (hey, new places can be weird!), she stayed calm and friendly around other dogs and clearly enjoyed her time exploring the trails. Belle’s walking style? Let’s call it enthusiastically forward-focused. She likes to keep things moving but still takes time to stop for the occasional sniff—because priorities. And when her walker crouched down to give her pets, Belle immediately climbed into her lap for snuggles. In short: she’s gentle, affectionate, and a total doll who’s happiest when she’s close to her people. 🐾💕 Adopt Belle, and you’ll never binge-watch alone again — she’s the perfect partner for lazy Sundays, quiet evenings, and a lifetime of love. ❤️ If you are interested in finding out more about Belle, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Belle is being fostered in Winthrop, MA. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Story
Bane is a 5.5-month-old Min Pin mix weighing about 28 pounds, and he’s as sweet as they come! This little guy loves everyone he meets and has the perfect mix of puppy playfulness and gentle affection. He’s potty and crate trained, good with both big and little dogs, and is already showing how smart and well-mannered he’ll be as he grows. Bane enjoys cuddling up close after a good romp outside, happily soaking up all the love and attention he can get. He does get a little car sick, so short rides and time to adjust will help him out. Whether he’s chasing toys or snuggling on the couch, Bane’s kind spirit and lovable personality make him the perfect companion for a lucky family ready to give him a forever home. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. To apply directly for Bane, push the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-770 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy’s team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Story
Meet Diamond! Diamond is a 10-month-old Chihuahua mix with a heart as bright as the little diamond marking on her chest. This sweet, submissive girl is incredibly cuddly and would spend all day in your lap if she could. She settled in quickly at the rescue and showed right away how gentle, innocent, and people-loving she is. Diamond is wonderfully kid-friendly—she was comfortable interacting and playing with children from the very start, even trying to encourage them to join in her fun. She’s also been nothing but loving and polite with all the adults she’s met. This playful little pup would thrive with a toy box to rummage through, and she’d be delighted to have either a human or a dog companion to play with. Despite being young, she’s already potty trained and hasn’t had a single accident inside! If you’re looking for a sweet, affectionate, and outgoing companion who’s ready to give her whole heart, Diamond is your girl. ✨🐾 Application: https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/691100a186613b0e04000cbe Questions? Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!    Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.   Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:   Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family  Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions  70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer  Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!   Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option.
