Story
Spuds is a 2 year old male Miniature Pinscher mix who weighs around 14 lbs. Spuds was abandoned on a property outside the city limits and was underweight and timid upon being rescued. He has turned into such a sweet and snuggly little guy. If he's not curled up with one of the other dogs, he likes to snuggle under the covers in bed at night time. Spuds plays well with dogs of all sizes and likes to run in the yard with them. Spuds is neutered, fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped. Our pups come with one month of free pet insurance when you adopt. If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://packleadersrescue.com/adoption-application/

Story
First, my reason for rehoming 5-6 yr old, 13 lb. Simon is not due to expenses; there simply was not a good choice of options in the menu. After close to 3 years, he has never bonded with me. Simon seems depressed, and he is still skittish with me. He is wary of people and dogs he has not met, but with each exposure, he relaxes. I know he has the capacity to bond as there is one woman and her dog he is absolutely obsessed with, and it was instantaneous. We have known them for over 2 years, through a dog park we visit regularly. And because I want him to see his buddies, I continue going to the park twice a week even though I moved 20 miles away over a year ago. He is low maintenance in every way. He could definitely use more activity, as I have a bad knee from an accident last March, and am unable to walk him for more than 15-20 minutes. I think a gentle small companion and maybe a fenced yard would be a bonus. Could you be his “dog whisperer”? He so deserves love & happiness.

Story
Tangent is a precious senior girl, approximately 10 years old, currently in foster care through the Town of Thompson. She came to us as an owner surrender when her previous owner could no longer provide the care she needed. Despite everything she’s been through, Tangent remains incredibly loving, gentle, and full of heart. Upon intake in October, Tangent required immediate medical attention for bilateral chronic ear infections and Lyme disease, both of which have been treated. Further evaluation revealed that she also needs dental care, with an estimated cost of $1,500, to help her live comfortably and pain-free. Tangent is truly a gem — great with kids, cats, and everyone she meets. She has the sweetest personality and the most adorable little dance when she walks that’s guaranteed to make you smile. 💃🐾 This sweet girl deserves a warm home, soft bed, and a future free from pain. She’s given nothing but love, and now she’s hoping for someone to give her a second chance at the happy, healthy life she deserves. 💗 Let’s help Tangent find her forever home and the care she needs. Every share, donation, and kind word helps make that possible.

Story
Gideon is a 6 year old neutered male who was found as a local stray. Friendly, energetic, and sweet, Gideon is a fun dog who enjoys going on walks and romping around in the yard. He loves a good blanket and sometimes scares the staff by snuggling so deep into a comforter that we don't realize he's there! Gideon has a food allergy and will need to be on a strictly fish-based diet, but he's not picky with his food and has been more than happy with the adjustment. He could live with a dog-savvy cat and is selective about other dogs, so he may do best with a canine companion content to leave him alone. For more information on Gideon, call AWS at 860-354-1350 email animalwelfare.socty@snet.net or visit our website aws-shelter.org for an application. Adoption Fees for Adult Dogs are $400

Story
Felix is an approximately 3 &1/2 year-old male min-pin who comes to PAWS from a CT animal control where he was picked up as stray. Felix is a friendly little guy who enjoys meeting new people and is good around other dogs. Felix can be a bit of a resource guarder and requires an adopter who will be a confident leader with him and continue with his crate training. As long as Felix's food and toys are confined to his crate and he is not allowed up on the couch, he does amazingly well. Felix was adopted earlier this year and did wonderfully with his new mom. He was just settling in and fully letting his guard down when she suddenly uprooted him and moved into a new shared residence. This raised his anxiety levels and resulted in a bite when a man he had never met invaded his space. His owner then panicked and abandoned him at a local animal control. Despite this sad turn of events, Felix was happy to greet all of his old friends at PAWS. He loves going on walks with all of our volunteers and playing in the yard. His training at his prior home has actually helped him immensely as we have not seen much resource guarding since we took him back. Although he plays well with other dogs, due to his resource guarding, a household without another dog or cat would probably be best for him. We believe that he would also do best in a single person household so that he does not develop any guarding behavior of one person over the other. Felix is microchipped, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.
