You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please note that we can not guarantee the age, expected weight or breed of any animal. What we provide is our best estimates based on our experience and the information provided by the our medical partners. If breed and eventual size are of great importance we suggest looking into a breed specific rescue or adopting a full grown animal. Unless otherwise noted, ALL animals are fostered and available for adoption on Long Island, NY.  Chico Male | 4–5 Years | 22 lbs | Miniature Pinscher Mix   Don't let his compact size fool you—Chico has a larger-than-life personality and an even bigger heart. At 22 pounds, he's the perfect size for just about anything, whether it's joining you on adventures, riding shotgun on errands, or curling up beside you after a long day.   Chico is a happy, affectionate boy who forms strong bonds with his people. If you're looking for a true companion, Chico is ready to volunteer. His favorite place in the world is right next to his person, and he'll happily shadow you wherever you go.   He's crate trained, enjoys car rides, and gets along well with other dogs. Chico has also tested well with cats, making him a great fit for many different homes. Because he gets so excited for treats, he would do best with older children who can help reinforce his manners while appreciating his enthusiastic personality.   Active, playful, and always ready for fun, Chico would thrive with a family that enjoys walks, outdoor adventures, and spending time together. He's eager to be included in everyday life and has a joyful spirit that's impossible not to love.   If you're looking for a loyal little sidekick who will love you with his whole heart and make every day a little brighter, Chico is ready to meet you.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 22, 2026, 8:20 pm

Story
Sugar came from a breeding situation where she was used & discarded. She was adopted, then returned for being scared w/men and new people. None of this is her fault, let's rewrite her story! Her ideal home has no other dogs & no kids under 15. She is fearful of men & new people, but will accept them with treats & time. She is loving, energetic & smart. She loves to learn & is eager to please. She becomes protective over her person, but will listen when corrected.

Story
A LITTLE CRAZY & CRAZY-CUTE Hello, I'm a friendly guy named Felix. I love going on walks with all the staff, playing in the yard, enjoy meeting new people and am also good around other dogs. Like all dogs, I am a pack animal. That means I need a strong alpha leader to be consistent, remain calm, and let my loving personality shine. Even with training, I'm a high-strung resource guarder and require an adopter who will be a confident leader and continue with my training. Biting is an ongoing challenge for me too, so don't let my extreme cuteness override the fact that I'm high maintenance. The staff believe that I would do best in a single person household so that I don't develop any guarding behavior of one person over the other. I am microchipped, neutered, and up to date on my vaccinations.

Story
Meet Fawn, a gentle senior min pin/chihuahua mix weighing 15 pounds. This sweet girl has a timid nature and is still learning to trust the world around her. With patience, kindness, and love, Fawn’s tender personality shines through—she truly blossoms when she feels safe. Because she can be startled easily, Fawn will run and hide if frightened. For her safety, she must always be on leash and attended when outdoors. She’s looking for a calm, understanding home where she can take her time to settle in and know she’s secure. Fawn may be shy at first, but once she feels comfortable, her quiet sweetness will melt your heart. If you’re ready to offer a safe haven and the gentle encouragement she needs, Fawn will reward you with unconditional love. Currently located/fostering in Texas but available with transport included. Our adoption process includes speaking with current foster/caretaker for additional personality information, pictures, video, and video call (if available). We work with trusted rescue transports that take great care of the fur babies and keep adopters and rescues in the loop the entire trip with dedicated group chats and Life360 tracking, so you know exactly how they are doing and where they are at always. Vetting: Spayed Heartworm tested negative Up to date on vaccinations On preventatives Microchipped with lifetime registration Adoption fee: $500, includes transport

Story
Rory 4 months old | Spayed Female | Miniature Pinscher Mix 3.7 kg | 32 cm | Black & Brown  CALGARY FLIGHT OPPORTUNITY — AUGUST 6A flight volunteer to Calgary, AB is available, arriving on August 6 at 4:10 PM, with space for ONE dog. Both Rory and Cian are eligible for this flight. The spot will go to whichever pup is matched with an approved Calgary adopter first. Rescue Story Rory was born after her pregnant mother was rescued from a hoarding situation. Now this sweet, social little girl is ready to find a family of her own.   Personality & People Rory is very friendly and affectionate with people, including strangers. She happily approaches new people for attention, enjoys being petted, and is comfortable being picked up and held.   She loves both men and women and is so trusting that she may even roll over and show her belly to someone she has just met.   Other Dogs Rory is equally social with other dogs. She readily approaches unfamiliar dogs to say hello and invite them to play, gets along wonderfully with dogs her age, and isn’t intimidated by larger dogs.   If another dog becomes confrontational, she prefers to move away rather than engage.   Cats Rory has not yet been observed around cats. Cat testing can be arranged upon request.   Energy Level Rory has a moderate energy level. She enjoys being active outdoors but settles down nicely to rest afterward.   Walking Rory hasn’t had much experience with leash walking yet, so her future family should be prepared to help her learn.   At Home & Other Behaviours Rory does not show food guarding toward either people or other dogs.   She currently uses both indoor pee pads and outdoor areas for potty breaks. She may whine briefly in a kennel when she can see people but settles down quickly.   Rory currently lives comfortably with other dogs and has not shown problematic barking. Because she comes from a hoarding background and is accustomed to living with other dogs, her behaviour as the only dog in a home has not yet been observed.   Rory is still a young puppy and will need a family ready to continue her training, socialization, and help her grow into a happy, confident adult dog.   Apply to adopt or foster: https://adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook and Instagram!
