Adopt Stilts! This 1 year old 13lb MinPin mix is FULL of personality! His foster mom says he's so sweet and loving, and he has made so many new friends in the neighborhood on his daily walks! Stilts has met both dogs and children that he has been great with. He loves long walks plus backyard play time. His ideal family will exercise him actively and take him on all of their adventures! He is potty trained, and working on perfecting his leash walking skills. When Stilts is not exploring the neighborhood, he spends his time cuddling on the sofa snuggled up in a blankie. He gives hugs constantly which his foster mom says is his most endearing feature. Stilts also loves toys! This handsome boys perfect home setting would have a fenced yard for him to run around and play freely in - he is lightning fast! Felix is an approximately 2 &1/2 year-old male min-pin who comes to PAWS from a CT animal control where he was picked up as stray. Felix is a friendly little guy who enjoys meeting new people and is good around other dogs. Felix can be a bit of a resource guarder and requires an adopter who will be a confident leader with him and continue with his crate training. As long as Felix's food and toys are confined to his crate and he is not allowed up on the couch, he does amazingly well. Felix was adopted earlier this year and did wonderfully with his new mom. He was just settling in and fully letting his guard down when she suddenly uprooted him and moved into a new shared residence. This raised his anxiety levels and resulted in a bite when a man he had never met invaded his space. His owner then panicked and abandoned him at a local animal control. Despite this sad turn of events, Felix was happy to greet all of his old friends at PAWS. He loves going on walks with all of our volunteers and playing in the yard. His training at his prior home has actually helped him immensely as we have not seen much resource guarding since we took him back. Although he plays well with other dogs, due to his resource guarding, a household without another dog or cat would probably be best for him. We believe that he would also do best in a single person household so that he does not develop any guarding behavior of one person over the other. Felix is microchipped, neutered and up to date on his vaccinations.

Story

Pacer, a black and tan Miniature Pinscher, about 4.5 years old on 5/19/24, was rescued 2 years ago. He was morbidly obese and appeared to be in a catatonic state when we got him. He was so terrified that he completely shut down and moved so little that we were concerned that he wasn’t even breathing. We took him to the vet to bring him up to date on vaccinations, but decided to wait until he was less terrified before we put him through the trauma of being neutered. He was neutered and vaccinations updated on 5/31/24. Pacer, unfortunately, tested positive for heartworms and is on the slow kill, doxycycline protocol. Pacer will do best in a quiet home with an experienced dog owner. Due to his fearfulness, he will not be considered for homes with young children. Pacer is located in Arkansas. He currently weighs about 15 pounds. His adoption donation is $465 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to give Pacer the loving home he deserves and help him develop into the confident little guy he can become, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. Hi everyone, my name is Caleb (meaning faithful/wholehearted). I’m a handsome little MinPin/Chihuahua mix, 1-year-old, 12 lbs and I was living a hard life near San Antonio Texas. My 2 brothers and I, and our owner were living in a homeless camp in the woods and were hanging out at a convenience store one very hot day when a lady stopped by and offered us water. Instead, our owner offered to sell us, so that nice lady bought us and is now our foster mom. It was scary at first and it took some time to make friends and relax. We had never been in a car or lived in a house with air conditioning, or had regular meals, or went to a vet, but we all adjusted and are loving it now (especially the AC in summer in Texas)! I am a very sweet boy, still shy at first when I meet new people, but give me a day and I’ll warm right up. I'm great with other dogs, don't mind kitty cats, and make an easygoing doggy playmate. I'm more of a people dog and will happily trade in playtime for snuggle time with my humans. I am very affectionate, loving pets, tummy rubs, sharing kisses, and curling up beside you while we catch our favorite flicks on TV. I’m housebroken and know how to use a doggy door. I’m well-behaved, only bark to alert, can walk on a leash, and love to go for rides in the car. Davis is a charming 3-year-old, 12-pound Chihuahua mix with a big heart for cuddles. This little guy is the definition of a "Velcro dog"—he loves to be close to his people, whether that's snuggled up around your legs or sitting in your lap. Davis isn’t shy about showing affection and will happily give you kisses whenever he gets the chance. While he enjoys going out for walks, Davis is still adjusting to the loud noises and fast pace of the city, so he could use a bit of help building his confidence.
