Story
Ollie is such a sweet and special boy with a quiet and lovely nature. Ollie is an 1 ½ -year-old, 14-pound wheat-colored Poodle/Chihuahua mix (his mother is a Poodle and dad is a Chihuahua). Ollie is a lovable pup who will need time to adjust to his new surroundings. He thrives best in a calmer environment, ideally with another friendly dog. He loves snuggling up with other dogs, and having a canine companion would be perfect for him! Because of Ollie’s gentle, bashful demeanor, we recommend a home with adults or older teenagers. He may take his time warming up, but once he trusts you, you’ll see his sweet and gentle nature shine through. Ollies does well at the sanctuary using the doggie door to go potty outside, He will benefit from some leash training to help him build confidence. Ollie is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, making him ready for adoption! If you think you can open your heart and home to this sweet boy, come meet Ollie he promises to be an adorable addition to the family. He deserves a warm and loving environment where someone can show him lots of love. Thank you for considering adopting Ollie, he's sure to bring so much joy and companionship to the right home. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. Story
Pending adoption We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs home leaving on 1/6/26 to NorCal, OR, and WA. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Holly to our trip for the right home! Holly’s story is one that stays with you long after you hear it. Born on 5/15/23, she is a beautiful Cockapoo with a soft, hypoallergenic poodle coat and the gentlest spirit. But the life she lived before coming into our rescue was anything but gentle. Holly spent her young life with a breeder who viewed her only through the lens of profit. She was bred repeatedly until her body gave out, and when she could no longer produce, she was thrown away without a thought for what she had endured. What we didn’t know until she was surrendered to us was just how much pain she had been silently carrying. Both of her back legs were severely injured. Her hip was completely dislocated. Her knee on the conjoining back legs was also dislocated and unnaturally twisted. Her knee had been breaking down from the strain of trying to survive with barely any functional mobility. She had been living this way for far too long, her suffering overlooked by those who were meant to care for her. Even so, Holly arrived with a sweetness that stopped us in our tracks — a quiet gratitude, a willingness to trust, a softness that showed just how much love she still had left to give despite everything she had been through. We moved quickly. Our orthopedic surgeon performed an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) to stabilize the weight-bearing leg. Once she began healing, she underwent another complex and specialized surgery to reconstruct her knee — a surgery that gave her not just comfort, but a true chance at a pain-free life. She has been spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, received a complete dental cleaning, and has been monitored through countless exams, x-rays, medications, and follow-up appointments over the course of many months. Every step forward was one she fought for — and one we fought right alongside her. Today, after more than $10,000 in medical care, months of recovery, and the unwavering commitment of everyone who has loved her through this journey, Holly has finally been cleared by our vet to begin looking for a forever home of her own. And she is so, so deserving. Holly moves gently and confidently now, free from the constant pain that once overshadowed her life. She enjoys soft play, leisurely walks, cozy spaces, and quiet moments with the people she trusts. She is an incredibly tender girl whose heart opens fully when she feels safe. She bonds deeply, listens beautifully, and carries herself with a calm elegance that makes you instinctively want to protect her. She does wonderfully with other gentle, respectful dogs and would thrive with a calm canine companion or as the only dog in a home that offers her softness and stability. She isn’t a dog who needs chaos, constant activity, or a busy lifestyle. She is a dog for a peaceful home — one built on love, routine, patience, and understanding. She is a companion for someone who values the emotional connection a dog can bring, someone who sees her not just for where she is now, but for what she survived to get here. Her journey has been long, emotional, and incredibly costly, but every ounce of effort has led to this moment — where she finally gets to be considered for the kind of life she should have always had. Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/holly-1 Her adoption fee is placed at our highest tier, not because it reflects her worth — that could never be measured — but because it acknowledges the extraordinary medical care she required to reclaim her life. Though we have invested well over $10,000 in her surgeries and treatment, this fee simply helps us continue offering the same chance to future dogs who come to us broken, discarded, or in desperate need of intervention. We have complete medical records and receipts documenting every part of her journey. If you feel drawn to Holly… if her resilience, her grace, and her quiet strength speak to you… if you believe you are the person who can offer her a lifetime of comfort, gentleness, and unwavering love… then we would be honored to hear from you. Holly has waited her whole life to be someone’s cherished girl. Whoever she chooses will be receiving one of the most special souls to ever pass through our rescue — a dog whose heart survived what her body could not, and who is finally ready for the kind of home where she is treasured, safe, and loved beyond measure.

Story
We have a transport where we will be personally driving our dogs home leaving on 1/6/26 to NorCal, OR, and WA. Surrounding states will be added to our route as needed ☺️ We would love to add Griff to our trip for the right home! Meet Griffin, affectionately known as “Griff” — and yes, he truly loves his nickname. Born on Valentine’s Day (2/14/24), Griff is a little love through and through, the kind of dog who makes friends everywhere he goes and leaves a lasting impression on every heart he meets. Griff is a Poodle/Maltese mix, weighing 12.4 lbs fully grown, and he is right where he should be - healthy, balanced, and beautifully proportioned. His temperament matches his looks perfectly: outgoing, affectionate, joyful, and incredibly easy to love. He greets every person he meets with a wagging tail and happy kisses, genuinely thrilled to make a new friend. He carries a confident but gentle energy that makes him feel immediately familiar, like he’s always belonged. He is wonderful with other dogs and truly enjoys playful companionship. Griff loves to romp around and would thrive in a home with a sweet, playful canine friend. That said, if he were to become someone’s one and only, he would shine just as brightly. He bonds deeply with his humans and is more than happy to fill his days hanging out, relaxing, and simply being part of whatever life brings. He has that special quality of being adaptable, content playing when it’s time to play, and perfectly happy settling in when it’s time to relax. Griff is not high energy, but don’t mistake that for laziness, he loves walks and can absolutely keep up. Walks are one of his favorite things, and he approaches them with enthusiasm and joy. Around the house, his manners are excellent. He listens well, responds beautifully, and is very food motivated, which has made his training progress a pleasure to watch. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night without issue, and he is house trained, typically going outside every 3–4 hours. Griff also loves car rides of any length and makes a wonderful road trip companion. He is not a barker, but he will politely alert you to unfamiliar noises, making him attentive without being excessive. Overall, Griff is the kind of dog who fits seamlessly into a home — affectionate, well-mannered, intuitive, and deeply loving. He is the perfect blend of playful companion and calm best friend, and he is truly ready to give his whole heart to the family who chooses him. His Adoption Fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/griff It Griffin’s neuter, vaccines, microchip/registration, and exam with our veterinarian. An additional cost has been added to cover his grooming immediately prior to his neuter, as well as the long-acting antibiotic injection administered to aid in his neuter recovery. This injectable antibiotic is more costly than oral medication but is recommended, as it remains consistently in his system for the full two weeks during healing. As always, Griffin’s adoption fee also reflects the months of care, continued grooming, and training he has received while with us. Griff is ready, ready to love, ready to belong, and ready to become someone’s best friend for life. 💛
