Story
We got this dog from a local person around Thanksgiving. She is a cute and sweet dog, but unfortunately, she will not let our cat live in peace. Our cat is 8 years old, and even though she isn't aggressive toward the cat, she likes to play too roughly with him, and he has become fearful of her. The cat hides in our room under the bed almost all day. It is not fair to our cat to keep going on this way.

Story
Ollie is such a sweet and special boy with a quiet and lovely nature. Ollie is an 1 ½ -year-old, 14-pound wheat-colored Poodle/Chihuahua mix (his mother is a Poodle and dad is a Chihuahua). Ollie is a lovable pup who will need time to adjust to his new surroundings. He thrives best in a calmer environment, ideally with another friendly dog. He loves snuggling up with other dogs, and having a canine companion would be perfect for him! Because of Ollie’s gentle, bashful demeanor, we recommend a home with adults or older teenagers. He may take his time warming up, but once he trusts you, you’ll see his sweet and gentle nature shine through. Ollies does well at the sanctuary using the doggie door to go potty outside, He will benefit from some leash training to help him build confidence. Ollie is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, making him ready for adoption! If you think you can open your heart and home to this sweet boy, come meet Ollie he promises to be an adorable addition to the family. He deserves a warm and loving environment where someone can show him lots of love. Thank you for considering adopting Ollie, he's sure to bring so much joy and companionship to the right home. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. Story
We have a transport leaving on 2/21/26 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Freddie to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet Freddie, a gentle, soulful poodle mix (we were told he was a cockapoo, cocker spaniel/poodle mix, He has the hypoallergenic coat of a Poodle so you won't have to worry about shedding!) He is just about two years old now and weighs right around 16 pounds, and yes he is fully grown. Freddie is neutered, microchipped, and fully up to date on vaccines, and he’s been thoroughly vetted and cleared to find a home of his very own. Freddie came to us from a background that didn’t give him much opportunity to just be a dog. Because of that, he’s not the loud, demanding, center-of-attention type, instead, he’s quiet, observant, and incredibly thoughtful. In the home, he’s house trained and does great with regular potty breaks every few hours. He’s content to relax nearby, often keeping to himself, but when you invite him in for affection, he absolutely melts into it. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t push for love, but deeply cherishes it once it’s offered. Over the past several months, Freddie has made steady, meaningful progress with confidence. Leash walking is still something he’s building comfort with, but he’s come a long way and continues to improve with gentle guidance and consistency. New experiences can still feel big to him, but each day he shows more curiosity and courage. He enjoys spending peaceful time in the yard and is perfectly happy entertaining himself or lounging in a quiet space. Freddie isn’t trying to escape, he’s simply learned to take things at his own pace, and when he feels safe, his true personality shines. At night, Freddie sleeps calmly in his crate and settles in without issue. He also does well when left alone and doesn’t struggle with anxiety or restlessness. While he’s perfectly comfortable continuing with a crate routine, we can easily see him thriving with a cozy bed nearby or even beside his person once trust is fully established. He’s a dog who bonds deeply, just not instantly, and the connection he forms is sincere and lasting. Freddie would do best in a calm, patient home with someone who understands that confidence isn’t rushed and love doesn’t have to be loud to be powerful. He’s not broken, shy, or difficult, he’s simply a dog who learned the world later than most and is still discovering how good life can be. In the right home, with a gentle heart and steady reassurance, he will continue to blossom into the wonderful companion we already know he is. Freddie’s adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/freddie-1 This reflects the veterinary care, daily care, training support, and time invested in helping him heal, grow, and prepare for a successful future. If you feel your home may be the safe, loving place Freddie has been waiting for, we’d love to hear more about you, your lifestyle, and your experience with the breed. Sometimes the quiet ones are the ones who love the deepest. Freddie is just waiting for someone to see him 🩵

Story
Holden is a Poodle/ShihTzu mix who's 11 months old, and weighs 14 lbs. He has the softest cashmere-like hair, a beautiful blend of chestnut and cream. He recently got a short haircut, but please keep in mind that Holden is a long-haired dog and will require regular grooming. Holden is cheerful, gentle and eager to please; there is just such an innocence about him. He’s a little shy at first, but very affectionate, and he’s great with gentle kids of all ages. He also loves to play with other small dogs, but he’s a little wary of the big ones. He can be a whirlwind of puppy energy at times and is very curious about everything; he will hop up on things, or dance around on his hind legs for a better view. So cute! He’s just learning about toys, and loves to go for walks (but may need a little training to curb his exuberance). Mostly he just wants to be with his person – he’s a snuggler and a lap dog, gives lots of puppy kisses, and he will want to sleep with you. The people who had him since he was a puppy did not train him. Their version of training was to yell at him whenever he did something they didn't like. Of course that teaches him nothing, except to be fearful of them. Holden is very bright, and he's doing great and learning quickly in his foster home. If you pay attention to his cues and praise him when he's being a good boy, it won't take long to train him. He's also treat-motivated, which helps, so if you have the time and patience to train him, he will be the perfect companion and a great family dog. If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Holden, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.

Story
We adopted our miniature poodle from her previous owner when she was about five years old. From the moment she came into our lives, she became family. Over the past seven years, we’ve given her a stable, loving home where she has been cared for, trained, and deeply cherished. She is now a senior dog—fully potty trained, gentle, and calm, with a lower energy level that comes naturally with age. As she’s gotten older, her needs have changed. She thrives on companionship and struggles when left alone for long periods. Unfortunately, with our current work schedules, she spends too much time by herself, which has led to anxiety-related behaviors such as excessive licking—something we believe comes from boredom and loneliness rather than neglect. This has been heartbreaking for us to witness, because she deserves constant comfort and presence. We are now facing a major life transition. We are relocating and dealing with a very tight financial situation, and despite our best efforts, we hav

Story
Marley is a sweet and loving 2 year old Cockapoo. We fell in love with Marley when we went to pick up a puppy as a companion for my mother in law. We already have 2 older dogs and his puppy energy is a bit too much for them. We have also struggled keeping him on the same schedule with the other dogs and realize we bit off more than we could chew. He’s very friendly to people and other dogs. We have an 11 year old so I think he would be good with kids. Up to date on vaccinations and neutered. There is a small area on his back where hair does not grow after he got an infection from a groomer. He is not bothered by this area and it’s really only visible after hair cuts.
