Story
**Please read Petu's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application at the end. Thank you!** Meet Petu, an 8-year-old Mixed Breed, weighing 14 pounds (as of 12/30/25)! He was recently surrendered when his primary owner sadly passed away. While Petu will miss and always love his previous home, he hopes to find the next home where he can continue to be the perfect companion. Petu is a true sweetheart and loves to spend time with his humans. Whether it's yelling at the TV when your home team loses the game, celebrating Thanksgiving with the new in-laws, or selling Girl Scout cookies outside a grocery store, Petu wants to be a part of life's precious moments. His favorite activities include going on walks around the neighborhood, chasing balls and playing with his toys. While he can be a little timid around men at first, but he does warm up to them eventually. It helps if you bribe him with treats (which he LOVES)! Petu is also very alert when it comes to strangers and is more than ready to bark if a group of kids are about to egg your house! Not on his watch! He also "sits," "leaves it," and comes when you call him. In 2021, Petu had a grade 1 heart murmur, which is now a grade 2-3 in recent visits. It was recommended that he have an echo, and he is also blind due to bilateral cataracts. According to his previous owner, Petu can still see and didn't walk into objects around his home, but he'll need patience as he adjusts to the unfamiliar surroundings of your home. Petu is pee-pad trained and would thrive in a home with an older person or couple who enjoy peace and quiet as he's a very gentle and sweet soul. Sound good to you? Adopt Petu today! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Story
Meet Jay, a sweet, miniature white-and-golden Poodle born 08/22/2023. Jay came to me through a friend, and from day one he’s been a loving companion with a big heart and a loyal spirit. He’s especially protective of his family—the kind of dog who likes to stay close, keep an eye on his people, and make sure everyone is safe. Jay is at his happiest when he’s out for a walk or soaking up attention—he truly loves being petted and adored. He’s a male and is currently not neutered, but his neuter has already been paid for and he has an upcoming appointment scheduled. As much as Jay is loved, my schedule has recently changed and I no longer have the time he deserves. Jay is looking for a new home with someone who can give him the care, consistency, and affection he thrives on. If you’re looking for a loyal, sweet pup who will be your little shadow and best friend, Jay may be the perfect match.

Story
Meet Coco! Don’t be surprised if you fall in love with his silly, scruffy face immediately. This guy still has a heart full of love to give! He’s calm and sweet and loves to snuggle close to his people. He’s also been getting along great with his canine friends here at our shelter. Coco is apparently deaf, which means loud noises, doorbells, and you calling his name from across the room are simply not his problem. This may be genetic or age-related, but the good news is that his physical exam showed no other abnormalities- he’s otherwise feeling just fine. Because he can’t hear cars or other environmental noises, Coco will need a home that understands the importance of keeping him safely supervised, especially outdoors or near traffic. What Coco lacks in hearing, he makes up for in personality. He’s great at reading vibes, routines, and affection through gentle touch. He’s a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loyal, low-key friend who will happily share quiet moments, naps, and unconditional love.coco has joined our extended stay program, meaning his fees have been waived in hopes to find his forever homecapeannanimalaid.org/dogapp

Story
Some dogs just have a way of reaching right into your heart, and Vanna is one of them. She’s a soft, scruffy little doodle mix with warm eyes and a gentle nature that makes you feel like she’s known you forever. Her life started in hardship, born out in the woods to a doodle mix mama dog owned by a homeless man who simply couldn’t give the puppies a future indoors.   At only 8 at the time weeks old, Vanna and her sister were rescued by a kind young woman who brought them home and loved them dearly for the last ten months. Unfortunately, life circumstances changed and she bravely chose what was best for Vanna rather than holding on when she could no longer afford the vet care and stability Vanna needs. Now Critter Cavalry Rescue will finish everything to prepare her for a bright new chapter — spay, vaccines, heartworm test, and microchip.   Vanna weighs 26 pounds and has that soft, fluffy coat that will absolutely glow with a little grooming. She’s happiest when she’s with other dogs and really doesn’t do well spending long days crated and alone. She wants activity, companionship, and people who include her in daily life.   Leash skills are still new to her, but she’s bright and willing, and she’ll blossom quickly with gentle guidance. A fenced yard or daily off-leash playtime is a must for this girl. She loves to stretch her legs and run, and while she will stay close, her recall comes from trust and bonding, which she gives wholeheartedly once she feels safe.   Vanna is loving, affectionate, and full of gratitude for every bit of kindness she’s ever been shown. Her previous mom saved her life — now we want to find the family who will cherish it forever.   Think you might be the one for Vanna? Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 20, 2026, 9:56 pm

Story
*It is difficult for Colby Jack to meet new people. Because of that, he can be met by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting Colby Jack please go to our website worcesterarl.org and fill out the Dog Adoption Inquiry Form https://worcesterarl.org/dog-adoption-inquiry/ - please indicate when you would be available on Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday between 9am and 3pm on any part of the form and a staff member will reach out. You can email dogs@worcesterarl.org with questions. Meet Colby Jack, a 2-year-old energetic poodle mix with a sensitive but playful personality. Found wandering as a stray in Worcester, Colby is looking for a fresh start. Colby is adorable and learning that the world can be a kind place. He does have clear boundaries around handling and prefers calm, respectful interactions, so he’s seeking an adult-only home with patient, gentle adopters who are happy to go slow and build trust at his pace. If you are looking for dog that you can snuggle and pet right away, Colby Jack is not the right fit. Colby will need regular professional grooming to keep his coat healthy and free of mats. Colby is looking for a home without other dogs.. If you’re looking for a devoted companion and are willing to let Colby set the pace, he would be a wonderful match.
