Story
Cody is a very gentle, sweet and lovable dog. Sadly his previous owners didn't take very good care of him and kept him living mostly outside where he frequently got out of the yard. He was found running loose by a busy street in Detroit when our director saw him and was able to rescue him. Cody was able to lead her back to a house where he lived and his owner agreed to surrendered him. When we got him he was a mess with his coat so matted and long we had a bag full of fur after we trimmed him. Cody is a very happy fellow now that he is finally safe and being taken care of. He likes to run outside in the yard and play with the small dogs he is being fostered with and we think he would love another small dog to play with at his new home and a fenced in yard. A basic training course is required to reinforce listening skills and bonding with his new owner. Cody also enjoys playing with toys and stuffies. Cody will make a wonderful addition to your family if given the chance. We were told he is 3 years old and he weighs about 24 pounds.

Story
Meet Ellie Ellie is a sweet, gentle soul looking for her forever family. This 4-year-old, 16 lb miniature Poodle mix was found as a stray in Detroit wearing an invisible fence collar, but sadly no one came to reclaim her. Now she’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish her. Ellie is a quiet girl who may be a little shy at first introductions, but once she feels safe, her loving personality shines through. She will need a quieter home with soneone that will be patient with her and allow her time to decompress before overstimulating her with new faces. She enjoys attention and companionship and has done well with other dogs. Cats don’t seem to bother her, making her a nice fit for a variety of homes. Ellie would do best in an adult-only household where her gentle nature can be respected. She is crate trained and has shown a great understanding of house manners, making her an easy addition to the right home. Ellie has enjoyed the security of her foster’s fenced yard and would love a similar setup, though it has been clearly determined that invisible fences are not appropriate for her. Ellie can be a bit head-shy, especially with leashes, and will need patient, positive reinforcement to help her build confidence and overcome these fears. As a Poodle mix, she will also require regular grooming to keep her looking and feeling her best. If you’re looking for a quiet, loving companion who just wants to feel safe and adored, Ellie may be the perfect match. She’s ready to give her whole heart to a family who will love her furever.  Ellie is:Current on Bordetella, Distemper, and RabiesDewormedHeartworm Tested: NegativeReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayedADOPTION FEE: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. Many of the animals in our foster program come to us with limited or unknown histories. We make every effort to evaluate each animal’s temperament and behavior, including testing their interactions with other dogs, cats, and children (defined as individuals under the age of 18, when available). However, every animal is unique—just as every child and household environment is different. While we strive to set both our foster animals and adoptive families up for success through thorough assessments and transparent communication, **we cannot guarantee any specific behavioral outcome**. Animals can be unpredictable by nature, and behavior may change in new environments or over time. By proceeding with adoption or foster placement, applicants acknowledge and accept this inherent risk and agree that no guarantees, either expressed or implied, are made regarding the temperament or behavior of any animal placed through our program. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. ##2631413##

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. &#226&#128&#139Meet Corduroy and Tonks, an inseparable bonded pair of dogs with a heartwarming story. After spending two weeks as strays, they stuck together through thick and thin, showcasing an unbreakable loyalty. Tonks is a 3-4 year old spirited terrier mix, and Corduroy is 3-4 year old lovable poodle mix. Both girls have great temperaments and are affectionate with people, and other dogs. Both might need time to gain confidence around larger dogs but do great after slow introductions. Both are crate trained and about 95% potty trained and eager to learn more. Corduroy and Tonks both need supervision and reminders as they continue their journey. This dynamic duo is ready for a loving forever home where they can thrive together, bringing joy and companionship to their new family.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. January 24, 2026, 8:22 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet the Quartet of Cuteness!   Big Mac aka Max, Bella, Nala, and Olaf are all Bichon Frise / Maltese mixes.  They may be a mom, dad and two offspring but we aren't certain.  What we do know is they all came from the same home.  Their owner died and the family was unable to keep them.  Each one has a distinct personality:  Bella is described as an 'attention hog', while Nala is more laid back and will not seek attention, but if you are willing to give it she will happily accept it.  Big Mac aka Max seems more outgoing than Olaf, who prefers at this point to 'observe' his world.  All are said to be good with other dogs and children. All will need time to adjust to a new home and routine.  Even though they are said to be good with other dogs and children, they have only lived together, so all will need slow and proper introductions to children and other dogs.  We don't know how they are with cats.  They all need basic training, including potty training.  Vet appointments for needed vaccines and spay/neuter are being done soon.  Because of their breed, each will require ongoing grooming, an additional cost to consider. We know these littles won't be with us for long so if interested in adopting any of them please apply soon.     Happy Days Dog & Cat Rescue requires a Spay/Neuter Contract by the adopter if puppies and kittens in our care are too young for sterilization at the time of adoption. This is a form the adopter signs at the time of adoption, confirming that they will get the pet spayed/neutered by a certain date. HDDCR holds a deposit [$50 for dogs, $25 for cats] in addition to the adoption fee until we receive proof from a veterinarian that the dog or cat was spayed/neutered by the date stipulated on the Spay/Neuter Contract. The deposit will be refunded to the adopter if spay/neuter was done according to the Spay/Neuter Contract signed by the adopter. Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The microchip is transferred to the adopter once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a one-time $15 microchip enrollment fee, paid at the time of adoption.  Microchips are enrolled with AKC Reunite.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost.
