Story
Cilantro was one of the most badly matted dogs we have ever taken into rescue. He was found roaming the streets and was in sorry shape, indeed! Along with the matting of his coat, our vet discovered that he had a major hernia, which was immediately removed. A Doodle mix, he is about 2 years old and weighs 53 pounds. Now he's a happy, happy boy who is super sweet, a real cuddle bug who loves toys and going on walks. In fact, he's a real social butterfly! You can read more about Cilandro's story here: https://www.crossingpathsanimalrescue.org/rescue-stories/mom-knows-best (posted 11/21/25, ME) Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **November 21, 2025, 1:23 pm

Story
Zoey is a healthy, sweet-tempered 5-year old mini poodle. She is patient and gentle, never aggressive, great with kids. She loves other dogs and is good with cats. She is fairly low maintenance, enjoys walks and loves attention but also does well lounging around the house. Her only real problem is an anatomical issue (ectopic ureter) which causes her to leak urine on occasion. So she is house-trained but will still have accidents because the pee leaks out of her body when she is lying down. To correct this, she would need surgery (which, we are told, has around a 70% success rate, so no guarantees it would even work). This condition does not affect her health (aside from increased susceptibility to UTIs) or temperament but can be very frustrating to deal with. Sometimes she has gone 6 months or more without an issue, but other times she’ll have several accidents in the same week.

Story
This pregnant Labradoodle’s owner was taking her to the pound when AFH intervened and saved her. She’s now in an AFH foster home where she can deliver her puppies in a safe environment.  The father of the puppies is a purebred white German Shepherd.  She was seen by a vet and x rays revealed that she is expecting 10 puppies. /Scout is a lovable, curious, sweet pup. She has done well out in public and is good with other dogs and children. She has made herself at home in her crate and welcomed attention from everyone who wanted to greet her. She loves attention! Once her babies are weaned, she will be spayed and able to go to her forever home. Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org December 17, 2025, 2:43 pm

Story
Meet Carter! This adorable little Poodle pup was found as a stray and taken in by a Good Samaritan who reached out to our rescue for help. He was unneutered and treated for ear infections and a UTI, but is otherwise a healthy boy. His coat was a bit unkempt at first, but after a full groom, his fluffy white curls look healthy and full again. Carter was originally fostered in NC with two small senior dogs. Like many pups, he needed a little time to settle in and find his place in the pack, but he coexisted well with the other dogs. He’s more dominant than submissive and was initially a bit protective of affection and toys, but once he adjusted, and especially after being neutered, he relaxed significantly. He arrived on transport 12/6 and has settled quickly into his local foster home. He’s loving life as an only dog and bonded instantly with his foster parents, Neha and Salil. Carter is a confident, cuddly, affectionate boy and a total people-lover. He wants to be right by your side and happily snuggles in bed at night. He’s friendly with everyone he meets! He’s been around a 6-year-old and did great, but because he gets a little jumpy with excitement, we think he’s best with kids 7+. He is housetrained and crate-trained, and is crated when left alone. He’s not a huge crate fan, but he settles better crated than loose in a new environment. A flexible schedule would be a big plus as he transitions into a new home. If you’re looking for a best friend who follows you everywhere—to the couch, the dinner table, the bed, or even the bathroom, Carter is your guy. He enjoys his daily walks (pulls a bit but overall good!), rides nicely in the car, loves toys, and will happily entertain himself. He’s eager to please and already knows “sit,” and is working on “come.” Neha shares: “He’s a total sweetheart with all people, rarely barks, and is an expert snuggler. He also sleeps with his legs up in the air.”   BREED ESTIMATE: Miniature Poodle GENDER: Male APPROXIMATE WEIGHT:  17 lbs  APPROXIMATE AGE: ~ 3 to 4 years old COAT TYPE: Fluffy Coat that requires regular grooming ADOPTION FEE: $425.00 OTHER INFO: utd on shots/neuterd/microchipped LOCATION: Bethesda, MD   FOR MORE INFO OR TO ADOPT: Please go to https://adopt.worthydog.org and complete the application. Story
Meet Eli!  This handsome guy was rescued along with his daughter, Bella, from the working life of dogs that belonged to a breeder.  To this man all the dogs were simply property.  Eli spent 10 years living life in a crate only being handled when he was 'needed'.  You would never know this sweet boy merely existed.  He shows none of the scars you would expect him to have.  Eli is a very sweet and loving southern gentleman who is slowly learning to live life as a pet.  He is adjusting to fresh air and grass.  Both of which were a truly new experience for him.  He began going outside only because he wanted to stay near his foster mom.  Now he happily walks around the yard and joins Bella and his other foster brothers and sisters for a little sunshine.  Eli is a very smart boy and is already housebroken.  He is also doing a great job walking on a leash.  Eli's favorite place is either in the chair curled up or louging on the back of the chair.  He is able to see everything from that perch.  Eli is ready to find his forever home.  He has plenty of years let to enjoy the good things that life has to offer.  He is looking for a quiet home full of patience and understanding.  He needs a family that will be there for him but allow him to adjust and blossom and his own pace.  You won't be sorry if you add this gentleman to your family.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application. please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Eli is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  No small children.  October 13, 2025, 5:11 pm

Story
Beautiful Bella and her dad, Eli, were rescued from lives as working dogs for a breeder who treated them as property. Poor Bella had been bred so many times during her eight years of life that her insides were severely swollen and infected. Critter Cavalry arrived just in time to save her from a painful death.  Bella is now happy and healthy as she slowly adjusts to life as a pet. She is a very smart girl who just wants to be near you. While she is not needy, she is keenly aware of where her foster mom is and likes to see her. Bella has learned to use the doggie door and is now housebroken. This process was easy for her because she follows her foster mom everywhere.  The most challenging hurdle Bella has faced so far has been discovering the freedom of the outdoors, along with the sensation of soft grass beneath her feet, which felt strange at first compared to the concrete she was used to. Learning to sleep with her foster mom was extremely easy for her; she thrives on the closeness and warmth. Bella will be a loyal companion for the right family. She needs a quiet, loving home where she feels safe and is treated with patience and understanding. At eight years old, Bella is not old for a poodle—she has a lot of life left to live and much untapped love waiting to be shared with her new family. (Please note: no small children.) If you are interested in considering Bella as a permanent member of your family and would like to request an application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. An approved application and adoption fee are required. Bella is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.November 7, 2025, 4:19 pm
