Story
Approximate Age: 1.5yr Approximate Weight: 12lb I just arrived to ODHS but the humans promised to update my bio as they learn more about me! Put in an application and come meet me soon. You can still come adopt me or even join our foster program to help the humans learn all the awesome things about new dogs like me! Learn more on our website! Hope to see you soon! *********************************************************************** Visit our website for an application to adopt. https://www.olddominionhumanesociety.org/adoption-application What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. Educational article: 3/3/3 rule: https://www.rescuedogs101.com/bringing-new-dog-home-3-3-3-rule/?fbclid=IwAR2iv5m7fqk3FieO7LOsstGeGsYYV_F1rJOd1BPxaImofLpcinpYsUbFRWs Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and Saturdays noon to 4pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week. Like us on Facebook "Old Dominion Humane Society" and be a part of promoting forever homes for dogs in need. #Adopt #Donate #Foster #Volunteer Note: ODHS adopts within a 350 mile radius of Fredericksburg, Virginia. A $50 out of state fee applies.

Story
Meet Bob! This cutie was surrendered when he was having some complex medical challenges that his owner wasn't able to care for. Fast forward several weeks, his skin is good as new. In typical small dog fashion, he does have some degree to skin allergies that may require maintenance. Right now, he just eats a sensitive skin and stomach food, and gets weekly medicated baths. Bob is good with dogs, cats, kids, and everything in between. He lives with dogs of all sizes, is crate/house trained, and is a pretty easy going guy. Bob has been neutered, is UTD on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm tested. He will come with 6 months of oral heartworm prevention, and 30 days of pet insurance for his new owner.

Story
This sweet little 8 1/2 lb girl is called Bonnie and her story is so very sad but happening way too many times these days. She is in a very small town of Tennessee and recently lost her mom and the family wanted nothing to do with her precious little 6-year-old poodle called Bonnie. So, what did they do, but put her outside on a tie out and pay no attention to her. She soon became sunburned, matted and full of fleas. She also developed an extreme sadness and fearful nature as she felt the vulnerability of being tied out on a stake. A good neighbor came to her rescue and took her to a groomer to have her shaved down. The groomer was mortified to see the condition that this precious little girl Poodle was in. She decided to not return her to the neighbor and it was in full agreement that she would take over care of this pitiful little girl. Critter Cavalry quickly took her to their vet and she will also be receiving a dental in the next 5 days. You see h mmer throat was swollen from drainage due to bad teeth, but other than that, she passed all health tests such as heartworm and parasites and worms. She will one day be restored to a beautiful soul inside and out. Today she looks fragile and we know her spirit has been beaten down and challenged. But she will survive because we will find someone to love her unconditionally and treat her like the Princess she's always meant to be. If you would like to adopt this precious girl please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comSeptember 8, 2024, 6:01 pm

Story
Meet Antilles: Our Two-Year-Old Miniature Poodle Girl!   This social butterfly and Energizer bunny is a true firecracker! Antilles is friendly towards strangers but also independent, with a mischievous streak that keeps life silly and fun. She is very affectionate, loves attention (and will demand it), and has a high energy level that keeps her bouncing around all the time. She’s very smart, a little stubborn, and oh-so-sweet. She is not afraid to share her opinions, so prepare for some lively conversations. Antilles loves going for walks, playing fetch, playing chase, and romping with other dogs. She needs lots of exercise, so having access to a yard and another friendly pup would be ideal for her.   Antilles spent the first two years of her life in a puppy mill, used for breeding. Despite this challenging start, she is making great progress with her crate training and house manners. She gets along well with the kitty in her foster home but tends to want to chase farm animals, so proper fencing is recommended if you have livestock or chickens. Antilles is working on her leash manners but will need continued training for walking with a loose lead. She can tend to get underfoot on the leash, so mobility issues should be considered.   Antilles will do best with someone who has poodle experience or experience with very smart, small, active dogs and someone who understands and is willing to commit to the grooming requirements of a wiggly little poodle.   Preference will be given to applicants who live within one hour of 22974. Due to her rough start to life, positive reinforcement training, either in person or virtual, with Green Dogs Unleashed will also be required for adoption.   At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2067336##
