Story
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION! Daisy is a miniature schnauzer between 3-5 years old and weighing about 12 lb. Sadly, her person passed away and now she is in search of a new loving home where she can be adored and cherished ei. Daisy is cautious and can be skittish in new situations but warms up with time. Daisy is housebroken, relaxes in a dog bed throughout the day, and sleeps in a crate at night. She came up to us with her sister, who has been adopted. They loved to run and play in their foster’s fenced yard and would very much enjoy one in their forever home. Daisy is so sweet and will make a great companion. She is looking for a quiet home, without young children and she's been stressed around dogs other than her sister who was adopted so looking to be an only dog.  If you are interested in adopting Daisy ,email almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com to request an application.  (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php . We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 15, 2024, 10:55 pm

Story
Schnauzer alert 🚨 😍 🤤 Meet Fritz, a perfect German name for a perfect little German dog! This 4 year old was a breeder release and is understandably shy and nervous, but very curious about the world around him and warms up quickly. He loves other dogs and being part of a pack and is a follower not a leader who needs at least one other doggie friend in the household to help show him the ropes. Everything is still new and a bit scary to him- walking on leash, housebreaking, being cuddled and loved, and he’s looking for a calmer adult home that understands he may never be the life of the party, but given time will bond and be loyal and loving toward his people. He’s not shown any aggression, just skittish and jumps away when first approached or freezes and shuts down when overwhelmed. He’s a handsome small Particolor schnauzie, chunky at 13.5lbs right now but on a diet and other than some rotting teeth that are getting taken care of is in pretty good shape. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Fritz by appointment in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Anna! Anna is an approx 6 year old female miniature schnauzer who recently found herself in need of a new home when her beloved owner entered hospice care. Anna has lived with other small dogs and a cat and is reportedly friendly with everyone. She is housebroken and crate trained, although she likely may have a few accidents as she adjusts to a new routine and schedule. She is good on a leash and just an overall sweet, low key dog. Anna is understandably heartbroken and confused over the recent upheavel in her life and she is hoping for a patient person who can help her heal her heartbreak and remind her of all the fun things that exist in this world. Anna's adoption fee includes all vaccinations to date, microchipping and she is spayed. She is heartworm tested (negative) and up to date on preventatives. Story
Meet Dexter (no not Dexter Morgan)--he will kill you…with love! This Dexter is a charming Schnauzer mix who, unlike his namesake, channels his energy into playful antics rather than anything... sinister. With a spunky personality and a knack for making everyone laugh, this Dexter is more likely to steal your socks than anything else. He's a goofy, gentle soul who loves the company of other dogs and thrives in the peace and quiet of a small town—no dark alleys or city hustle for him. Dexter prefers the mature crowd, finding those over 12 to be his ideal accomplices in relaxation and fun, away from the "crime scenes" of urban chaos. He's on a mission to find a forever home where life's simple joys are celebrated: leisurely strolls, cozy evenings, and a loyal friendship. If you're looking for a partner in crime (of the heartwarming kind), Dexter is ready to leap into your life, promising a tale of laughter, love, and maybe just a tiny bit of mischief.  Dexter is 3 years old. He is vetted, neutered, and chipped. Our adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Story
Meet Ephaba! This whimsical Schnauzer mix has a flair for the dramatic and a heart full of mischief, the mischief of stealing hearts that is. This spunky, silly girl casts a spell of joy on everyone she meets, especially her canine companions. Preferring the serene life of a quiet town over the Emerald City's dazzle, Ephaba seeks a family who appreciates the quieter, magical moments of life. Aimed at enchanting a crowd that's a bit more mature (over the age of 12, please), she's ready to lead her new pack on off-key adventures and cozy cuddles. Ephaba's tale isn't about defying gravity but about filling your life with laughter, loyalty, and a touch of wicked fun. She may not arrive by broomstick, but she's guaranteed to sweep you off your feet with her boundless love and spirited antics. Elphaba is 3 years old. She is vetted, spayed, and chipped. Our adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Story
Meet Jonathan Pearl! This 7 month old, miniature schnauzer (born July 6th) is 13lbs of adorable lovebug! He is a lovely cream color that seems to be getting lighter by the day and has the dreamiest eyes, the shade of that really pricey almond colored suede! This guy LOVES to be with his humans and sticks close by inside, happy to chomp on a toy and wait to capture your attention. He is doing well with walkng on the leash except for one thing... he wants to talk to everyone. Like, EVERYone (read: humans, dogs, birds, leaves blowing by... you get the gist). It doesn't always earn him other dog friends on walks, but when it does he is the happiest puppy ever! And while he can be a bit loud, it is 92% excitement, 7% awkward and 1% fear (but ZERO aggression). He is also working on all the other important puppy skills like recall and sit and wait and leave it. He is super smart and we hope he will be ready to tackle taxes next. (If treats are involved, we really think he will do a better job than we will!) He is allllmmmooost house trained and very good at alerting you when he needs a trip outside but he also understands the wee wee pad assignment! #rockstar. He has a very typical schnauzer bark ("it's a bit pitchy, dawg" as OG American Idol judge, Randy Jackson might say) and some separation anxiety when left solo. He likes his crate but he has big, loud thoughts with alone time and needs to make them heard!! We have no doubt that he will improve with time but he will definitely require a little patience on this front. Honestly though, when he rests his sweet little self on you and snuggles in to Netflix and chill, he makes everything worth it. Adopt this dreamboat today! Interested in becoming a forever home for Jonathan? Fill out our online adoption application: http://www.friendswithfourpaws.org/adoption-form.html This is the first step in our process, and we don't go any further without an application. Find more adoptable pets, news and information on Instagram @friendswithfourpaws or our Facebook page Friends with Four Paws. We put a lot of time and energy into processing our adoptions to find our babies the best fit home for them and you. Please do not submit an application if you are not serious about adopting Jonathan. We are so excited to work with you to find you a new forever friend, and Jonathan the perfect forever home, and appreciate you working with us. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $750. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Thank you in advance for your patience with our process and for making adoption YOUR option!
