** Current Location: in a foster home in South Korea ** • Personality: She's sociable and energetic. She adapts to new places right away and loves to reach out to new people and friends she meets. She knows how to say hello to familiar people and friends. She loves to play with other dogs and loves to play with people. She picks up on new training quickly, so we think she would make a great dog for a family with a good understanding and training knowledge of dogs. She's a bit of a sneaky prankster right now, so she can get into trouble, but she's affectionate, gentle, and full of energy. • Affinity with -Cats:She is currently living with cats in a temporary foster home. She is not aggressive with cats, but she is very interested in them, so if you have a cat that likes dogs, she would be fine. -Dogs: She is currently living with the dogs in her foster home without any issues. They play well with each other, are socialized, and warm up quickly to new dogs they meet. -Adults/Kids: She is very fond of people and loves to be petted. She warms up quickly to people she meets for the first time. • Shedding: Moderate. There is shedding in certain periods. Her fur is best brushed daily with a silicone brush. • Walking Manner: She loves to go for walks, both familiar and new, and prefers to take fast, wide, territorial walks (rather than slow, sniffing the trails). He also loves to run in the park, but will sometimes try to run outside if there is no fence. she is fast and has a lot of energy, so she loves to run around in large parks and meet people and dogs. she also loves to go for walks in the mountains, but she has a hunting instinct and is interested in small snakes, rodents, and birds. • Housetrained: She goes potty on pee pads and highly prefers to go outside. She can chew on wood and plastic furniture and will grab small items that fall on the floor and play with them. She's very playful and will run around with you if you have a like-minded friend in the house. • Separation Anxiety: She's always been around other dogs, so we can't confirm, but we think she'll be fine on her own. • Bark or Howl: She barks briefly when she hears strangers outside. There is no howl • Carsickness: She had drooling at first, but now she rides well.

She loves other dogs and people of all ages. She is still working on her potty training but making good progress in her foster home and just needs her forever family to continue the training! She's around 7lb and will be a very small dog when fully grown (10lbs-ish). All of our pets are located in Houston TX and will not be transported until adopted. You will get to video chat with the pup once/if your application is approved. We are not first-come, first-served but rather strive to match dogs to their best fit homes! Meet Millie! Same old story different dogs… people buy a cute fluffy non-shedding puppy, never get them groomed or socialized, and surrender them to the pound when they are a matted inconvenience 🤷‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️ Millie is under a year old and a nervous girl but opens up into a happy playful puppy once she feels safe. She seems to be some kind of schnoodle or maybe havapoo? (Well, we groom everything to look like a schnauzer, but that definitely looks like a schnauzer nose to us!) About 16lbs full grown and is now spayed and updated on shots. Shaving her was a dramatic occurrence and she will need sleepy time meds and getting her more used to being brushed and handled now that she’s more comfortable and not clumped in mats head to toe. She’s ok with other dogs but also gets nervous with them in her space too much and prefers to dine alone… a bit socially awkward and still learning how to play and be a normal puppy. Millie is looking for an adult home that will continue to socialize her in a positive way to new people, places, and things and be committed to her for life, for better or worse. Story

We have been on a very expensive wild spending spree at the vet this week with lots of new medically-challenged emergency intakes 🤯. Things are bad right now in the shelter/rescue world. Really bad. None of us are ok 😔 We are still catching up on getting to know all our new little friends- some young, many seniors, some likely hospice cases. But all deserving of a fresh start. First up, meet Maya! Her owners were moving that day (of course) and showed up at the pound with this skinny matted blind 10 year old ragamuffin they said was a purebred poodle. She had not been to a vet in a while and was eating well but not gaining weight… her bloodwork and urine test showed she is diabetic! So we are grateful she was surrendered just in time before crashing without treatment. She’s a sweetheart, loves attention and cries to be picked up and put on your bed. A very good girl for her twice daily insulin injections with her meals, goes to the bathroom outside when taken out in time, and is fine with other gentle dogs who won’t get mad if she accidentally bumps into them. She has a libre sensor and we are working on getting her stabilized and regulated and will soon be looking for a permanent home committed to her ongoing care- she is otherwise pretty healthy and happy and hopefully will have many years to be loved and spoiled. We love a schnauzer, and we love a challenge, so Hunter is lucky he ended up with us! If he had gone to the city shelter as planned, things definitely would not have gone well for him 😞 This 7 year old has been quite a project and we have been working with him behind the scenes for the past few weeks as we try to figure each other out. He came to us a matted terrified screaming snapping mess from a home in the Bronx. They took him in when he was left abandoned tied to a pole a couple years ago but couldn’t really take care of him either. He shut down and starved himself for several days before finally taking some chicken from us- we can usually make friends with even the most aggressive and feral schnauzers pretty quickly but he has been most challenging by far that we have ever had. We had to have him completely sedated to be shaved and he wouldn’t let us pet him for weeks, but he finally is starting to trust and give us a happy greeting and letting us pet his head and shaved-off whiskers. His saving grace is that he’s more comfortable with dogs than people and has even started playing and flirting with them, so he’s finally learning we aren’t so scary if the other dogs like us. He’s gentle and sweet with dogs of all sizes so we know despite the fierce show he puts on toward people, deep down he’s not a bad guy, just terrified and has been let down by humans over and over again. We still can’t pick him up and petting has to be on his terms, and he panics about leashes/collars going over his head but we will continue to go at his pace and on his terms. He is still very much a work in progress but we see a lot of potential in him and he’s much more relaxed and happy around the other dogs at least so we will continue to give him time to figure out his place in the world.
