Story
Clark is a sweet, loyal dog. He is a 7 year old shmorkie who we got at 2 weeks old. Clark gets along well with our 11 year old Shih Tzu, but dogs he is unfamiliar with, he will bark and be unfriendly. When we had our twins in 2021 Clark began being more anxious where he would hide under the bed/behind the couch and have uncharacteristic accidents in the house. We figured as the kids grew up Clark’s behavior would change, but he is still a very anxious and not his old self. We also moved from a 4 bedroom house with a big fenced in yard to a condominium with much less space. We love Clark and want him to have a happy life, so we’ve decided to rehome him. Clark would thrive in a situation with no kids as the only animal. He needs space, preferably a yard to run around and just lay in the sun.

In fact, I take my job as a "stranger danger" specialist very seriously. New people need to earn my trust, and I prefer to get to know them from a comfortable distance first. If someone pushes my boundaries before we're friends, I may let them know I'm not ready yet. Now for the important part: the key to my heart is food! 🍗 Treats are my love language. I’m very food motivated and will happily take snacks from your hand. Just don't assume we're best friends after one cookie! I might take the treat and then go right back to acting like I’ve never met you before. Trust takes me a little longer than snacks do. Once I decide you're one of my people, though, you'll see a completely different dog. Give me a few days to settle in, and I'll happily let you carry me around like a baby, cuddle up beside you, and become your loyal little shadow. The people I trust get to see my sweet, affectionate side. One thing that comes naturally to me? Loving other dogs! I adore canine friends and enjoy their company much more quickly than I warm up to humans. My perfect home will understand that relationships take time. My name is Brach, and I’m hoping someone still believes dogs like me deserve a happy ending. 🤎 I’m a 10-year-old Yorkie mix with a gentle heart and a whole lot of love left to give. I’m the kind of little dog who just wants to be close to his person — curled up beside you on the couch, snuggled in bed, or quietly following you from room to room all day long. I get along well with other dogs, I’m not food aggressive, and I even proudly wear my little belly band like a gentleman. Everyone who meets me says I’m a total sweetie pie. But the truth is… I need a special home. I have congestive heart failure. Right now it’s being managed well with care and medication, and I’m doing my best to enjoy every cozy moment life gives me. Still, I know being older and having medical needs makes people scroll past dogs like me. What I want most isn’t anything fancy. Just someone willing to love me for whatever time I have left. Someone who understands that senior dogs still feel joy, still form deep bonds, and still wait by the door hoping they finally belong somewhere.
