Story
Meet Drake!
At 6 year old and 15 pounds, Drake is a tiny package full of personality. This spunky little guy is the perfect combination of couch potato and adventure buddy.
Inside the house, Drake is a professional couch potato, lap warmer, and full-time velcro dog. If you're looking for personal space, Drake would respectfully prefer that you reconsider. He loves being close to his people and is happiest when he can follow you from room to room, supervise your daily activities, and curl up beside you whenever you sit down.
Outside, however, he transforms into an Olympic-level track star with places to be and squirrels to investigate. He wants to zoom around and explore. Because of his speedy nature and adventurous spirit, he can be a flight risk and will need a family committed to keeping him safe and secure, that is careful about doors, gates, and leash safety.
Drake is wonderfully portable and enjoys being carried, making him an excellent companion for outings and adventures. He settles nicely overnight and sleeps through the night like a champ.
When it comes to other dogs, Drake can be a bit feisty with those he doesn't know, especially from afar. He prefers proper introductions and appreciates having time to decide whether new canine acquaintances meet his standards.
Drake spent the last year in the city and decided that there are too many people and other dogs. He would thrive in a more rural environment where he can run around without too many distractions.
If you're looking for a lovable lapdog with a big personality and the energy of a woodland creature disguised as a dog, Drake may be the perfect match for you!

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
