Dixie is SUCH a sweet and loving girl. She would love a family with a big yard in which to play and a couch so she can snuggle with you. She gives wonderful hugs. Dixie was born about Sept 2024 and is a 32 pound love puppy (though fully grown). We don’t know her breed… mountain cur, some small bully? We do know she is affectionate and intelligent. She is fully vetted, spayed and microchipped. She has one problem and we DO have the solution. Dixie has a condition called Diabetes Insipidus. This is probably NOT the diabetes you are familiar with. She does not need insulin shots but she does require a twice daily pill; Desmopressin. The rescue will reimburse the adopter for her medication monthly and for her required checkups for her lifetime. All dogs are heartworm negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. All cats are current on vaccines/deworming, and microchipped. We are open 12pm-5pm Sunday-Friday and 10 am-5pm on Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. Lily and Penny are believed to be related and are definitely best friends. They were found in a tree hollow together off the side of the road at about 6 months old. They’re roughly 2 years old now. I work a lot and my son is about to graduate and going into the military so I simply won’t be able to give them the time and effort they need. They’re loving and energetic. I would love to have them go together but may consider rehoming them separately. I just feel they’d be lost without one another or at least another dog friend to keep them company. They’re crate trained, house trained, high energy and big love dogs. They’re kind of aggressive chewers and love nylabones but I haven’t had many issues with them chewing household items. They’re great and we love them but I just simply won’t be home enough and I don’t want them to suffer for it. They really would love a fenced yard to run, wrestle and get their zoomies out.

My pet was found on the side of the road when she was about a month old. She was full of bugs, her stomach was huge due to her having worms. My son brought her home. She is 9 months old now I have 2 cats. But I felt so sorry for her I just couldn’t bring her to a shelter. Plus she was so cute and small. Smaller than my cats. I took her to the vet. She has her shots dewormed and spaded. She is scared of a lot of things. I guess from being out on the streets. She is very smart. She lets me know when she has to go out and do her business. She knows where her food is kept and goes to it when I say do you want to eat She gets her toys when I tell her to. She knows som commands like sit, give me your paw I keep her in a create overnight because she likes to chew. I am 74 years old and I didn’t know she was going to get this big. I do love her very much but I get frustrated because she needs a lot of attention. I’m trying very hard to make her walk on a lease without pulling me.
