Story
Gertie is a sweet senior girl who is learning, little by little, that the world can be a safe place. Found as a stray, she doesn’t seem to have had much experience with people, and new humans can be a little overwhelming for her. But Gertie is trying. If you offer a treat in your hand, she may take a few seconds to decide whether she’s ready to trust you enough to come forward. When she does, her little stubby tail gives a gentle wag—a sweet reminder that underneath her uncertainty is a very friendly girl. Her soft, gentle eyes seem to say that she really wants to trust you; she just isn’t quite sure how yet. Human touch is still something she is learning about, so Gertie will need someone who understands that trust takes time and is willing to let her set the pace. Once she feels safe, we believe there is a lot of love waiting to come out. Gertie absolutely loves her soft bed, and we can picture her happiest in a quiet home where she doesn’t have to worry about the hustle and bustle of the world. This senior sweetheart deserves someone patient and kind who will give her the time she needs to relax, feel secure, and discover just how wonderful life with a loving person can be. If you are interested in learning more about Gertie, please call 812-988-7362 or submit an adoption application at the link below. After the application is received, an adoption counselor can reach out to you directly. https://www.bchumane.org/adoption-application/ GREAT NEWS—This pup will go home with a free training scholarship! These fun, positive reinforcement classes are available in-person or online and are super easy to fit into your schedule. It’s a terrific way to build a bond, learn together, and make a smooth transition into your home. *All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested, current on parasite prevention and microchipped.

Story
Hi, I'm Molly! They say the best friendships take a little time, and I'm definitely worth the wait! I can be a bit shy when meeting new people and exploring new places. I may need a little time to settle in and feel comfortable, but once I realize I'm safe, my sweet personality starts to shine. With patience, kindness, and a few treats, I'll slowly show you just how loving and friendly I can be. I'm currently available as foster-to-adopt because I am heartworm positive and receiving treatment. Don't worry though, the shelter team will help guide you through the process and provide information about my care. During this time, I'll be looking for a loving home where I can relax, recover, and continue building my confidence. What I need most is a family willing to let me move at my own pace and celebrate the little milestones along the way. In return, you'll gain a loyal companion who will blossom into a wonderful best friend. If you have room in your heart and home for a sweet girl who just needs a chance, I'd love to meet you. Could you be the happy ending I've been waiting for?

Story
Hi, I'm Mel. The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a little nervous. New places, new people, and big changes can make me feel unsure at first. I like to take my time getting to know the world around me, and I feel safest with kind people who are patient and understanding. But once I realize that I'm safe, you'll start to see the real me. I'm a sweet boy with a gentle heart, and I love having someone I can trust by my side. Every kind word and gentle scratch helps me come out of my shell a little more. I'm dreaming of a family who understands that some dogs need a little extra time, a little extra patience, and a little extra love. In return, I'll give you my whole heart. There's nothing I'd love more than to finally find a place where I can relax, feel secure, and know that I'm home. Could you be the one to help me write my happy ending?
