Stitch is a dog who seems to be experiencing the world with a lot of uncertainty right now, and he is still learning how to feel safe around unfamiliar people and situations. Even while overwhelmed, there were moments where he allowed handling and accepted being picked up once outside, which suggests there is a softer, more trusting side underneath all that nervous energy. Dogs who have not had much socialization often need time to decompress and figure out that they no longer have to be on high alert all the time. With patience, consistency, and gentle guidance, those small moments of trust can grow into something really special. Stitch would likely do best with adopters who understand shy or undersocialized dogs and are willing to move at his pace instead of expecting instant confidence. Staff believe he may benefit from living with another confident dog, which could help show him the ropes and make the world feel a little less scary. He will need a secure environment and careful introductions while he settles in, but for the right person, helping Stitch build confidence and discover how good life can be may be an incredibly rewarding journey. All adoptions include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home.
