Story
Oakley is a good boy that has a hunting nose, and a passion for exploring. He always likes to sniff around outside, and he loves to chase falling leaves or follow our cats around. He sleeps well in his crate at night, and loves his chew toys. Oakley would be great in a home with active people, hunters, or safe spaces to explore.

Story
I have been at the SPCA for over 500 days, so my adoption fee has been waived!!! So there is no charge to adopt her.I came to SPCA in July of 2022 and have been living here for over 600 days.Meet Pigeon, a survivor with a heart of gold. This beautiful mixed-breed female was rescued from a hoarding situation, where she endured unimaginable conditions. Despite her rough start in life, Hope has shown incredible resilience and a capacity for love that knows no bounds.Initially shy and timid around new people, Pigeon takes her time warming up to unfamiliar faces. But for those patient enough to earn her trust, they'll discover a loyal and affectionate companion like no other. Once she forms a bond, Hope's gentle nature shines through, and she becomes a steadfast friend who will stand by your side through thick and thin.Pigeon's journey to recovery hasn't been easy, but she's made remarkable progress during her time at the shelter. She's proven herself to be incredibly resilient and has blossomed into a confident and loving dog, especially when surrounded by those she knows and trusts. Her transformation is a testament to the power of love and compassion, and she serves as an inspiration to all who meet her.Despite her shyness around strangers at first, Pigeon is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs. She thrives in the company of her canine companions, and her playful antics and gentle demeanor make her a favorite among her furry friends.Despite her incredible progress and lovable personality, Pigeon remains a long-term resident at the shelter, having spent over 600 days waiting for her forever home. But for the lucky individual or family willing to open their hearts to this special girl, the rewards will be immeasurable. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will fill your life with joy and companionship, look no further than Pigeon. Come meet her today and be prepared to fall in love with this remarkable survivor Patience, realistic expectations and a good match in a home environment are the keys to success! Story
Sugar looks like a white 45 lb Kimmer Cur & possible Am. Bulldog mix, very shy and sweet, about 3 years old.  She was found in Wildcat Subdivision in Murphy, NC in late July and brought to nearby Lost Dogs Run, so weak from starvation, that she could hardly move.  Sugar recovered rapidly and now is a very quiet and calm dog who just likes to hang around, following her foster mom.  She was obviously used as a breeding dog in the past. She is now  totally vetted, house trained, and heart worm negative.  However, in mid August she had three 2 minute seizures within 24 hours and was immediately put on levetiracetam (initially 3 500 mg tablet a day and now a month later 1 tablet a day) which totally stopped the seizures.  Her medicine is not expensive and her dosage is 1/3rd the normal dose and has no bad side effects.  We will soon try with no tablets to see if there are still no seizures.  Her low energy nature would make her a great pet for a retired couple.  She is just so sweet and wants to stay near home.  Each morning, she is let out to explore in the neighboring woods and is back within a half hour, eager to go back in the house.  Call Ron Stoessell (985-630-1613) or email him at ronstoessell@gmail.com if you can provide a great home for her.May 8, 2024, 12:02 am

Story
Rusty is a handsome fella, a typical mountain cur with an orange tint to a reddish-brown coat.  He has a white chest and is probably about 7 months old and weighs about 35 lbs.  Rusty will be fixed before being adopted but we are waiting for him to get older.  He is otherwise fully vetted.  He is very affectionate, chases balls, loves to play with anyone: kids, adults, other dogs.  He likes to sleep on and off the bed at night.  Rusty is a great family dog.  Please call Ron Stoessell at 985-630-1613 if interested in adopting.May 8, 2024, 12:02 am
