Story
Meet Aura! Aura is an absolutely stunning and affectionate pooch, a delightful mix of Mountain Cur and Pit Bull. She was born around April 1, 2024, and has already captivated the hearts of many. Aura joined us in January, and upon her arrival, she faced some challenges; she was extremely fearful of men. However, with the dedicated time and effort from our loving staff, Aura has made tremendous strides in overcoming her fears and is now ready to embark on a new chapter of her life as she searches for her forever home.  This beautiful girl adores soaking up the sun, often found lounging in warm patches of light where she feels serene and content. Aura thrives on cuddles and loves to be close to her human companions, seeking out affection and warmth. Besides her love for snuggles, she has a playful side too—she enjoys her toys, whether it's a squeaky one or a tug-of-war rope, and she can often be seen happily engaging with them. Moreover, she has a particular fondness for going on walks and exploring her surroundings. These outings not only give her a chance to stretch her legs and exercise but also offer her the opportunity to gather her courage in new environments. While Aura has made significant progress, it's important to note that she can still be a bit nervous around men. She may require several meetings to build trust and feel comfortable before she is ready to transition into a new home. Patience and understanding will be key in helping her adjust.   Aura would thrive best in a home as the only pet, as she truly enjoys having all the attention directed toward her. She is particularly good with children aged 10 and older, as she appreciates kids who understand the importance of granting her personal space when needed.  If you find yourself intrigued by Aura and believe you can provide the loving, supportive environment she needs to flourish, we encourage you to reach out. Please call us at 615-446-7387 for more information, or better yet, come by and meet this wonderful girl in person! Your new best friend might just be waiting for you to take her home! ##2285526##

Declan is estimated to be 4 months old and a lab mix. We do not know who his parents were so these are guesses based off experience and does not guarantee the breed. Declan came to Gigis at just roughly 5 weeks old. He did go to a foster to adopt home but they have changed their minds and he is back with Gigis, looking for his perfect forever. Declan is a smart fully vetted and neutered male. He loves to stay busy. If interested in meeting Declan, see below for application. https://airtable.com/appcqQGnAUlgNcf92/shruX8uIalTUTpdg4

Story
Our Scooter boy is a beautiful, loyal, and affectionate dog! He is still learning how to be a dog and is slowly learning how to be part of a household! He does well with other dogs and even cats! He would do well with respectful children. He is a little wary at first of strangers, but once he warms up, he is a sweetheart! He is very food motivated and is super trainable. He pays attention well when you work with him and gets excited to be rewarded! He knows basic commands like "sit" and "shake". He enjoys enrichment activities and is good at them! He soaks up all the love from his foster mom and is always ready for snuggles and kisses. It is very obvious that he loves to be loved. He is about 90% potty trained and getting better every day! He is also fine in a kennel overnight and sometimes chooses to go in on his own to take a nap. Scooter came from an unstable environment and therefore he is working daily on his confidence to be the best version of himself! Outings, enrichment activities, and socialization are great ways to help him boost his confidence. He needs a patient, loving, and encouraging person or family to help him on his journey. He is up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives, recently had a dental (with no extractions), he is fixed, and currently sits at 45lbs but will need to keep gaining weight to fill out a little more. His beautiful brindle fur is coming back to life and the little spark in his eyes is getting brighter every day. Does Scooter sound like your kind of guy? Apply today to meet him and his pearly whites!

Story
Waylon is an absolute DREAM of a dog, really just the perfect boy! He does great with kids, does amazing in a home, is housebroken, crate trained, does great in a car, LOVES to be active and play and go on both runs and walks with his fosters, is super smart so easy to train, loves to snuggle and will calmly hang out with you while you work or watch TV, and is just the best boy! He seems really eager to be around other dogs so we don't see why he couldn't have dog buddies to play with! He is 100% joy and will be excited to see you every time you come home...and his fosters are working on trying to temper that pure joy that causes him to jump in happiness, but it always comes from a place of love and light! The struggles that Waylon has are purely medical but we have come to a plateau where with a great regimen of his medications, his diagnosis of Perennial Fistula Disease is easy to manage. And the nice thing is he takes his medications great! He does have to have an ointment on his rear, and does take some other oral meds, but he takes them very well. His condition also does require him to be on a very regimented diet that cannot be strayed from but Bonaparte's Retreat is more than happy to continue paying for his meds and his food because we definitely don't want that to be a deterrent for this perfect boy to find a home. He does require someone who can monitor his poops because they do need to be monitored, but he poops great on a walk which makes it easy to monitor! He also does need to be with a family that can strictly monitor his diet and not allow him to counter surf but he eats his special food great! We really can't speak more highly about Waylon and he would make some active family or single person an amazing BFFAugust 27, 2024, 11:44 am

Story
Meet Trusty, a sweet boy who is looking for someone willing to give him a little time and patience to show his wonderful personality. New people and places can make him feel unsure at first, so he prefers to take things at his own pace. Once he feels comfortable, his gentle and sweet nature begins to shine through! Trusty enjoys soaking up the sunshine and would love a cozy spot where he can relax and feel safe. He may not be the pup who rushes right up to say hello, but with kindness, patience, and a little understanding, Trusty has so much love to give. Could you be the person he’s been waiting for?
