Story
Dear Diary, Today I have been thinking a lot about toys and treats. Well, I guess I think about both a lot because I love toys, and I love treats. My human friends keep saying that I am treat-motivated. What dog isn’t, after all? A little known secret though, did they also say that I’m super intelligent? Ha! I've also been thinking about how much fun I had at the greenbelt with my volunteer friend; I had many treats, and there were so many different things to explore and sniff on. I would really love more greenbelt time, more treats (of course), and more sniffs. I like spending my time with my trusted humans. I've also been dreaming about a home with a foster or adoptive family. I would love that. Then, I can spend time away from the shelter. I really wish to be the only dog. I also would want my crate there, as I like my crate. I was also thinking about how I would be a great roommate, and then I could have my own jar of treats. I can show off how big of a cuddly bear I am. Could you be the family I’ve been dreaming of? Fostering or adopting me would fill our days with love, sniffs, and treats—apply today to become my forever friend!

Story
Meet Kai: Your Loyal, Independent Companion! Kai is a 6-year-old mutt, a mix of brindle mountain cur and Australian shepherd. With moderate energy, she loves attention and affection but is also perfectly content doing her own thing. She gets excited when meeting new people or seeing her owner after a break, and she has a tendency to jump in her excitement, so she would benefit from some training to manage her enthusiasm.Kai is food motivated, loves sniffing around, and enjoys digging, so scent games are a great way to keep her entertained. While she’s not into fetch or tug-of-war, she’ll happily accept belly rubs and kisses. She also loves short walks, & does great on a leash. Her prey drive means she’s not good with small pets, but she’s calm around loud noises & bangs. She could be trained for treeing hunts. She also has no problem in a kennel, and can be left for work if needed. If you're looking for a calm, loving companion who will be loyal and affectionate, Kai is the one for you.

Story
KC: * How does the dog act around strangers, other dogs, cats, and children? KC is a pretty social dog. She will chase after cats but does not seem to be aggressive. She is great with my children and us as well. She may be a little shy at first but warms up quickly. * Do they have any resource guarding (food, toys, space)? KC can sometimes resource guard her food but is usually pretty mild tempered. * What are their favorite toys or activities? KC loves playing fetch and is a high energy dog. She loves our walks and playing with our other dogs. * Do they know basic commands (sit, stay, come)? KC does know sit and listens extremely well. If I whistle or call for them on our walks, she is the first one to come right back to me. She is eager to please her people. * Are they food-motivated? KC definitely enjoys her food. 😊 A slow feeding bowl may be good for her since she eats pretty fast. * Are they house-trained? Do they have accidents? KC has been outside in a designated area so she is not house trained that I am aware of. * Are they crate-trained? Not that I’m aware of. * What's their typical daily schedule (walks, feeding, sleep)? KCeats in the morning and evening. She is in an area with 3 other dogs during the day so they get plenty of play time. We also go for walks around our property about 2 times a day. When I call her to go in her area she goes right away and seems very content with her designated space. I have not had any issues with her trying to escape or crying/barking at night. * How long can they be left alone, and where do they stay? If they are not with our family, they are with the other fosters so she is rarely alone and would do well with another companion animal (we also have Boots, who she shared a kennel with at the shelter and they are best buddies). KC does not like being left alone, she will cry and whine. * How are they on a leash? She’s pretty rough since we have been doing free range walks but we are working on it. It’s hard when all of our dogs can walk free when we go but if she were the only dog or 1 of 2, I think she would do better. She really does want to please her people. * What do you know about their history (shelter, street, past owner)? I do not know much about her history. She was at the shelter for a few months before I started fostering her. * Do they have any medical conditions, allergies, or need special food/medication? I have been giving her and Boots probiotics since they had parasites a couple times and the medicine can hurt their tummies but other than that, no noted issues. * What are their quirks or challenges you've noticed? KC is just high energy and what I would consider a Velcro dog. She always wants to be near her people or friends and can jump when excited. She is a very active dog. * What kind of adopter would be a good fit for them? Someone who will take her on adventures , gives her plenty of attention, and love her like she deserves. She would probably do best with a family that has kids and other pets
