Story
Requires several intros, but worth every minute of your time. Once you build a connection with him he is the biggest cuddly marshmallow. He is estimated to be approximately 7 years young and still has so much energy and love to give. He walks wonderfully on a leash and loves a cold day for an adventure. If you're looking for a truly loyal companion Bernie would be your guy. He is up to date on all medical vaccinations and is neutered.

Story
Eclair was found injured on the side of the road. No owner was ever found, but several people admitted seeing her roaming along the road for a couple of weeks. It was frigid and water sources were limited. Eclair was dehydrated, weak, thin, and had an injury on her hind leg when she was finally spotted and caught by someone who cared. Eclair has some food aggression towards other dogs. We haven't seen this directed towards us (people) but she will growl at another dog when she's got food around. Feed her separately and with children I'd be cautious.Eclair is very timid. She's unsure of new places, won't walk on a leash, and her method of handling scary things is just giving up and hoping things all go away. She's going to need kindness and consistency to begin to build her confidence up. The good news is she actually LOVES people. She's a total clown, does little hops, and play bows and will come up for pets...in a space she feels safe in. She was good in my car for the ride here, no car sickness and stayed in the back seat. She is estimated to be 6-8 months old and was underweight at 60 pounds. She's a big fluffy girl! At Autumn Acres Animal Rescue we believe each individual animal matters. We take in special cases some of which will stay with us as a sanctuary dog.If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect Dog this means they have special needs and special requirements for potential adopters. If the animal is listed as a Socially Imperfect RESIDENT this animal is NOT available for adoption and is one of our sanctuary residents. We list them on our sites because they still matter and they still need donations to help with their long term care.Check out our website for more information: http://www.autumnacres.org

Story
DOB:  2/7/26                                 Current Weight(as of 5/28/26): 29 Lbs. Adoption Fee: $275 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. Izzie is a 4-month-old Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart as beautiful as her looks. Like many puppies, Izzie had a rough start and came to rescue feeling very shy and fearful of the world around her. Thanks to the patience, love, and encouragement of her foster family, she has made tremendous progress and continues to blossom more every day. Once Izzie feels comfortable, her playful and affectionate personality shines through. She absolutely loves playing with other dogs, romping around the backyard, and spending time with her foster parents. Watching her confidence grow has been a joy, and she is ready to find a family that will continue helping her discover just how wonderful life can be. Izzie has done very well with house training and is almost there, but she will still need consistency and patience as she continues to learn. Because she loves having space to explore and play, a securely fenced yard will be required.  As a Great Pyrenees/Anatolian Shepherd mix, Izzie is expected to be a large to extra-large dog when fully grown. She will thrive with a family that understands giant-breed dogs and is committed to providing her with the love, guidance, and security she needs. Izzie is more than just a beautiful puppy—she is a sweet soul who has worked hard to overcome her fears and is ready to reward her forever family with a lifetime of loyalty, love, and companionship. Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty. Please make sure that you have a “potty plan” in place if considering adoption. All of our puppies have been spay/neuter, wormed, microchipped, and given age appropriate vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting/adopting one of them just fill out a application at www.furrykidsrefuge.org, click on the 'Adopt A Dog' icon and a dedicated volunteer will be in touch.  Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
DOB:  2/21/26                                 Current Weight(as of 5/28/26): 23.2 Lbs. Adoption Fee: $275 includes 1 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness. These adorable siblings are approximately 3½ months old and are believed to be Labrador Retriever/Great Pyrenees mixes. While we can't guarantee their breed mix or adult size, they are already around 30 pounds and will likely grow into large dogs. These sweet puppies are full of love and personality! They enjoy playing with toys, romping around with their siblings, snuggling up for cuddles, and giving plenty of puppy kisses. They are friendly, affectionate, and eager to be part of a family of their own. Like all young puppies, they are still learning the basics. They are not yet housebroken and will need a patient family committed to continuing their training, socialization, and puppy manners. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and plenty of love, they will grow into wonderful companions. Because of their size and energy level, these puppies would do best with an active family that can provide daily exercise, playtime, and plenty of attention. A securely fenced yard would be ideal, giving them room to run, explore, and burn off puppy energy. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion and are ready for the fun and commitment that comes with raising a puppy, one of these sweet siblings may be the perfect addition to your family! Puppies are NOT housebroken and should not be expected to wait more than 1 hour for each month of age to go out to potty.
