Story
Do you love cattle dogs, but wish you could own a more portable version? Meet Pequitas Pete, AKA Petey! This adorable, polka-dotted little bundle of fun is estimated to be around 2-3 years old, and can't wait to be your new best friend.  He has a big plumy tail that he wags all the time, and a cute overbite like Geena Davis. Petey is a petite guy and weighs about 11lbs. Petey was found as a stray with a fractured leg and was brought to a local shelter. We were able to work together with the UC Davis Fracture Program to get surgery to fix his leg. After some crate rest and TLC in a foster home, h e’s all healed now and ready to find his fur-ever home! Petey is a high-energy guy who is looking for an active family that can keep up with his ever-curious mind and busy body. He loves hanging out in the yard playing with toys, and snoozing in the shade or in a doghouse when he’s ready to take a break. He is an affectionate and fun guy who bonds strongly with his people and is happiest when he can join you for whatever the day brings.  He loves going for walks, and with his energetic nature, he can go block after block without getting tired. He would be a great hiking buddy for someone looking for a compact adventure buddy.  Petey loves other dogs and has been doing well living with other small dogs. He can be a little much for low-energy or shy dogs, so he would do best with other active dogs who can match his energetic play style. We haven't seen Petey around cats, but he may do well with dog-savvy cats who can hold their own with a playful dog. Petey hasn't been around kids, but he may do well with kids 10 years old and older. Petey is house and crate trained. He quietly sleeps overnight in his crate and is content to hang out in there while his foster mom is gone for short periods during the day. Petey has a voice and isn't afraid to use it when he is excited, so he wouldn't be a good fit to live in an apartment. Little Petey has lots of love and energy to share with a forever family - are you that family? If so, submit an application today!   Petey's adoption fee is $400.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. He is a gentle, smart boy who loves nothing more than a quiet routine, a comfortable spot to rest, and being near his people. He has that classic Corgi loyalty combined with a sweet, sensitive nature. He is looking for a peaceful home where he can enjoy his senior years. He’s the perfect size for easy handling and would make a wonderful best friend for anyone looking for a low-key, loving companion to share their day with.

Story
It’s with a sad heart that I need to rehome my chi mix dog. He’s long hair (I keep short) unsure what he’s mixed with. He will be 7 Dec 25. He definitely bonds with one person at a time, but will switch to whoever is close and paying attention to him. He is a barker, so unfortunately he can’t come to my new home. Good on leash, harness works best. House trained, uses a bell on back slider to “ring” when he needs to potty. Crate trained at night and during day when needed. Lived with a cat the last 3 years. Not great with other dogs if they come into “his” home. Grew up with kids youngest was 2 at time we adopted him. Please only serious adopters: he will come with crate, blankets, food bowls, loves clothes, current food, trimmers, harness/leash.

Story
Chihuahua Mix Age: > 1 yrs old Male, neutered 7 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Charlie was dropped off at the Berkeley Animal Shelter by someone who initially stated that they “found him.” Then it was discovered that person actually had the dog for a couple of months, so it was treated as an “owner surrender.” He has no real use of his back legs. They were froze/locked in a rigid position, so he used them to steady his back end, but he wasn’t able to actually move them in any useful way. X-rays of his spine showed a major deformity that he was likely born with. The shelter didn’t have the resources to care for this kind of disability. They called us before making the decision to euthanize him. We have determined that Charlie is incontinent (bowels and bladder) due to his condition. He mostly gets around by dragging his hind legs, and occasionally using his legs as “crutches”. The foster family hasn’t done a lot of work on getting him to use a wheelchair/cart. As a puppy he is very playful. He had to learn a lot of puppy manners while interacting with the other dogs in the home. He is doing pretty well in that area. Charlie would do well in a home with other friendly, playful dogs his size. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Charlie, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com
