Story
Beautiful Nellie is waiting to be your new best friend! She is a gorgeous, 2-year-old, 13 pound, golden colored, silky, coated, Papillion / Terrier mix ?. This pretty girl has light warm brown eyes. Her pointed ears add so much character to her face. Her gorgeous coat is soft to the touch. She will require regular brushing and occasional professional grooming. She was surrendered to AFC with her 3 puppies: Billy, Brutus and Graham, when their owner went off to college and left this little family behind. Nellie has been well loved and is an amazing companion. She wants to go everywhere you go. She gets excited when she sees the car keys come out! She loves to go for walks and enjoys riding in the car. Nellie is a special girl and will need an active, loving family. She is housebroken. She gets along well with other dogs her size or smaller. She would be fine as an only dog, as she loves to be the center of attention, though you would need to work from home. She is scheduled to be spayed and is microchipped and up to date on shots. Ready for the perfect girl? Nellie is ready for you! If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Papaya is a 3 year old Papillon mix who is looking for her fruit salad forever family! This gorgeous gal landed at the local shelter when her former family was moving and decided not to take her along for the ride. Well, we knew that we couldn’t leave this smiling gal behind so we scooped her up and promised her the best second chance ever. She knows her best is yet to come and so do we! Papaya has a gorgeous coat and fantastic ears that give her sparkling personality an added bonus! We know this gal would be the pick of the farmer’s market, just as she will be the pick of her forever family.    Papaya is a curious, smart, and playful girl who is just as cute as can be! She is very friendly and affectionate and would love a best friend in her forever person. She would be happy following you to the ends of the Earth, and will take on any adventure, as long as she can do it by your side. Papaya adores her toys and tosses her rope toy to herself happily for hours at a time. She loves showing off her ever-expanding list of skills for her impressed foster parents. Papaya has a fabulous mix of playful and chill energy. She’s just as up for a brisk walk as she is for a movie marathon on the couch. What more could you ask for in man’s best friend! Papaya will fit in perfectly in a home that is ready to show her the world! She has such a love for the simple things in life and we know her future looks so bright.  Papaya wakes up at 7 AM and goes outside for a potty trip. After she comes inside for breakfast, she does some zoomies around the house. Throughout the day as her foster parents work, she follows them around the house, checks in on them and gets up to her doggy routines. She loves a good game of fetch, dragging her pile of soft toys around the living room, and zooming around the backyard. She gets dinner at 6 PM and then spends some more time in the yard having fun. In the evening, she relaxes on the couch with her foster family soaking up cuddles and kisses. After one last potty trip, she heads to her dog bed where she tucks herself into bed for the night.  Papaya gets along well with other dogs as long as she has an introduction. Eventually, she can make anyone her friend! She gets along very well with the kids in the foster home. Papaya is working on her leash walking skills and is making great progress. She is crate trained and house trained. Papaya is a curious and fun-loving pup with a spunky personality! You’ll fall in love with her from your first glance!    Papaya is an option for those who have previously owned a dog, even if that experience is less recent. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.May 1, 2024, 9:42 pm
