Story
Sweetheart Poppy is a 6 year old, 12 lb Papillon mix who somehow ended up as a stray at the shelter. Despite that, she is a very happy, cheerful, and young at heart little girl. Poppy does well with other dogs and loves being close to her people. She will happily “pop” up when she wants to be picked up and cuddled. In the evenings, she enjoys relaxing on her own chair or curling up in bed with her person. She is house trained with a dog door, quiet in the home, and an easy companion. Poppy does not chew and is not destructive. The only time she gets vocal is during playful wrestling with her dog friends. Poppy is still working on her leash skills and will benefit from some gentle practice, but her sweet nature and loving personality make her a delight. If you are looking for a small, affectionate companion with a joyful spirit, Poppy may be the perfect addition to your home.

Here is a list of things that should help us answer you in a more timely manner. 1. When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. 2. Adopt a Pet and Petfinders ask you to send us an enquiry. This always delays our response. (Why) a. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. b. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get. c. Again our Biographies are very detailed and if you just click the link near the bottom of their bio you can fill out an application which we will respond to. 3. For the AFC website (scroll down to the bio at the bottom it says (apply to adopt today- click that link) www.animalfriendsconnect.org 4. For Petfinders ( scroll down to the biography then click the adoption link) http://animalfriendsconnect.org/adoption-application-dogs/ 5. For Adopt a Pet (scroll way down past “Ask about me”) you will see the biography and underneath that will be the adoption questionnaire link. Story
This darling 12-pound, 1-year-old heartbreaker is guaranteed to steal your heart! Meet Oscar, an adorable, cocoa-colored pup bursting with happiness, energy, and sweetness. Though his former owner sadly couldn’t keep him, Oscar hasn’t missed a beat. He’s a total cuddle bug who’s thrilled at the idea of finding his forever family. Oscar has lived happily with other dogs and gets along great with both big and small pups. He hasn’t met cats just yet, but with his gentle, friendly nature, we think he’d be more than open to making some kitty friends. Kids? He loves them! Oscar would be perfectly content with a single adopter, a couple, or a family with children. This playful little guy is all about fun, and fetching balls and sticks is one of his favorite games! He’s crate trained, sleeps soundly through the night, knows all his basic commands (sit, stay, come, leave it), and enjoys leisurely neighborhood walks. Oscar is an all-around lovable little dude who seems to adore everyone he meets. He’s well-adjusted, ready for his next chapter, and waiting patiently for a family to call his own. If you’ve got room in your heart (and your home!) for this sweet boy, just let us know. Oscar is waiting just for you!

Story
Meet Archie! This sweet and loving 1-year-old chocolate-brown cutie is on the hunt for his forever home. While his former owner sadly couldn’t keep him, Archie hasn’t let that dull his sparkle one bit. He’s a total lovebug who adores cuddles and is beyond ready to shower his new family with affection. Archie’s mom was a Papillon, and he proudly rocks those charming features—plus, he’s a tiny little peanut at just 10 pounds! He’s lived happily with both big and small dogs, and he’s also done great with small children. Cats are new territory for him (for now!), but with his friendly, easygoing personality, we think he’d be open to making a feline friend too. This adorable dude truly loves everyone and everything. Whether you’re a solo adopter, a couple, or a family with kids, Archie would fit right in. He’s crate trained, sleeps through the night like a champ, knows his basic commands (sit, stay, come, leave it), and enjoys heading out for walks. If you’ve been dreaming of a sweet, cuddly, fun-sized companion to brighten your days, Archie might just be the one. Could he be your perfect match?

To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $700 Meet Indigo   Indigo is a 2 year old, 14 lb Papillon mix who came to the rescue from the shelter and has been busy discovering what it means to be safe, loved, and part of a family. He is a bright, energetic little dog with a huge heart and a zest for life that becomes more obvious every day.   Daily Routine Indigo is an early riser and starts his day with a quick 10-minute walk around the park near his foster home. Afterward, he enjoys breakfast— a mix of kibble and wet food— before settling into his pen. Around 8:00 a.m., he heads out for a longer walk, usually 40–50 minutes, where he can burn off his abundant energy. After that, he relaxes in his pen until his foster family returns home in the afternoon.   When his people get home around 3:00–4:00 p.m., Indigo is thrilled to see them and goes out for another short walk. Dinner is around 5:00 p.m., followed by playtime in the living room. Before bedtime, he enjoys one last 10-minute walk around 8:00 p.m. He sleeps in his pen overnight without issue— he may whine briefly, then settles himself and sleeps through until morning.   Personality & Growth When Indigo first arrived, he was very shy and anxious, reluctant to leave his crate and unsure of his new surroundings. He was underweight and dealing with skin issues, and it was clear he needed time to decompress. In just a short period, he has made an impressive transformation. Indigo is now affectionate and cuddly, loves to wag his tail, and eagerly engages in play with toys and his people.   He has a playful, puppy-like spirit and is still learning good manners. Indigo can get mouthy during play and may grab at things when excited, but his foster family is actively working on redirecting this behavior and teaching him appropriate outlets. He is curious, smart, and clearly eager to learn.   One of the sweetest things about Indigo is how he greets his foster family when they come home. As soon as he’s let out of his pen, he walks right up and gently presses his forehead against them— a quiet, heartfelt way of saying he’s happy and feels safe.   Energy Level & Activity Indigo is energetic and always on the move when he’s out of his pen. He loves running and exploring and seems like he could go forever. He is not a couch potato— this is a dog who will thrive with daily walks, enrichment, and an active lifestyle.   Leash Skills & Outside World Indigo has been on many walks and is enthusiastic on leash. He does pull a bit but frequently checks back in with his person. He is very alert and vocal when he sees dogs, people, strollers, cats, or other activity, using his voice to let everyone know he’s there. With continued training, structure, and confidence-building, he should continue to improve in busy environments.   Training & Manners Indigo is crate-trained and comfortable resting in his pen. Potty training is still a work in progress, and he will need a home committed to consistency and positive reinforcement as he continues learning where to go.   Social Life Indigo is currently the only dog in his foster home and has not yet lived with other pets or children. He previously lived with several other dogs while at the shelter.   Why Indigo Indigo is smart, kind, affectionate, and full of personality. In just 10 days, he has already bonded deeply with his foster family and clearly wants to be part of a pack. He is strong, healthy, and endlessly fun, with a playful spirit and a loving heart. For the right home— one that embraces his energy and commits to guiding him as he grows— Indigo will be a devoted, joyful companion who brings laughter and adventure into everyday life.January 21, 2026, 1:55 pm
