Nolan's StoryNolan is a very sweet happy boy, about 1-2 years old and about 10 pounds. This little guy is learning to be a house dog, probably hasn't ever had anyone who wanted to spend time with him. Making progress with housebreaking and leash skills. Loving, playful and just adorable, he is going to be a wonderful companion.PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Click on "adopt" to find the drop down menu. Calling, emailing or "inquiring" is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Dogs are in foster homes-meet and greets cannot be scheduled without an approved application.The adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative, heartworm test if age appropriate and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped.We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Meet Sully! Sully is an approximately 1–2-year-old, 10-pound Papillon mix with a huge personality in a tiny package! He’s full of puppy energy and loves zooming around the house and backyard before curling up with his foster family for some affection. He’s also working on his house-training and doing well with supervision and frequent potty breaks.Once he feels comfortable, Sully is silly, sweet, and incredibly affectionate. He can be shy with new people and needs time to feel safe. We don’t know much about his early life, but it’s clear he’s still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place.Right now, leash walks are too overwhelming for Sully, so he’ll need a home with a securely fenced backyard. His forever family should be patient and willing to help him build confidence at his own pace.Every day, Sully shows us a little more of his goofy personality, and we can’t wait to see him continue to blossom. Meet Cassie! 💕 This sweet girl has the softest fur, the cutest little face, and those long legs that make her absolutely adorable. Cassie is affectionate, playful, smart, and definitely considers herself a professional cuddler. She loves getting attention from her people and would be happiest with someone who enjoys having a dog who wants to be involved and showered with affection. She’s crate trained and does well with other dogs, as long as they respect her boundaries. Cassie is perfectly happy to have canine friends, but she isn’t interested in being constantly pestered or climbed all over. She communicates her boundaries appropriately and would do best with dogs who understand when she’s saying, “That’s enough.” With her people, though, she’s all about the attention! Cassie’s adoption fee is $300 and includes her spay, age-appropriate vaccinations, microchip, parasite prevention, and other routine veterinary care provided while in our care. Grace was surrendered to a shelter with her housemate Rocky. Both were scheduled to be euthanized within the week due to fear/anxiety/stress within the shelter. Pulled by this rescue on their scheduled D-Day, Grace had pneumonia and obvious ongoing malnutrition. Once out of the shelter environment she began to open up to her foster Mom. Pneumonia was treated, she was able to get spayed, and now she is a zig zag wiggleworm of excitement! She is silly, fun, playful, happy, fetches, wrestles, and gives kisses! You have to earn her trust before she comes to you, but that is a fair ask! Currently working on potty training and getting more weight on her and leash training. Goal will be about 25#. She will excel in a home with a fenced yard, daily exercise (she has plenty of energy now!) and people who understand her wariness of anything/anyone. She is an absolute doll that will melt your heart. She takes treats from yiur hands like a sneaky raccoon… slowly and carefully, then runs off to eat them! Story
Meet Pumpkin! This sweet little lady was surrendered to a shelter with a request for euthanasia, not because she was ready to die, but because her human’s health was failing and there was nowhere else for her to land. Fortunately Pumpkin made her way to us, but she arrived carrying the quiet weight of long-neglected illness. Her eyes were infected and diseased, her mouth ravaged by severe dental disease, and her body fighting bacterial cystitis. Layered over everything else, she received a new diagnosis of diabetes - a condition that demands consistency, monitoring, and care. None of this happened overnight. This is what happens slowly, when medical needs outpace resources, and a small senior dog is left to endure more than she ever should. Despite all of this, Pumpkin is a sweet, tolerant girl who loves snuggles and belly rubs above all else. Well, maybe not above food - she LOVES eating and has a sassy bark she deploys to make sure dinner is served exactly on time and humans dispense the proper amount of treats throughout the day. Even though she's mostly blind, she loves exploring her foster mom's yard and has no problem navigating it. Pumpkin is approximately 12 years old and 5 lbs.
