Story
Princess was found as a stray in Springfield. In addition to being a `chicken little` type dog, she also has some medical considerations. Princess had bladder stones when she arrived. The TJO vet team was able to operate and remove them, but she will require a specialty diet for the rest of her life and will need to have a great relationship with a veterinarian in case this issue should arise again. Read more about chicken little characteristics below: Need to feel safe before they will interact with peopleFearful of new people and places. May need to visit more than once for dog to feel comfortableShut down here at the shelterMay bite if people push or try to interact too quicklyOnce they trust a person, they often become very bondedTraining will strengthen the bond with dog and build confidence If you are interested in meeting Princess and are prepared for both her behavioral and medical considerations please call 413-781-1484 x2. OTHER PETS:Case by Case. Princess is a nervous little lady. She will need to meet any dogs she would be living with. OWNER EXPERIENCE:Experienced- Princess has both behavioral and medical considerations. KIDS:Adults only. Dogs with a chicken little/nervous type personality are likely to bite if pushed too quickly or if their body language is not understood. ACTIVITY LEVEL:Low. Princess enjoys quiet time with volunteers and short walks outside. We anticipate she will bond very closely with her family and is likely to be a snugglebug with time and patience. VETERINARY CARE:Above Average- Princess arrived at the shelter with bladder stones and will need a specialty diet for life. She will need a strong relationship with a veterinarian. Story
Emmie-special needs10 years old female, Chi/Papillion mix, potty trainedEmmie lost her human and she is looking for a home that will love her and provide her with the attention she deserves. She is on special food. She is a sweet little girl who has a lot of quirks to her personality and absolutely loves to lie flat out in her persons arms and receive belly rubs. She gets along with other dogs but can be bossy so her best home would be by herself. If you are looking for a loving lap dog who actually fits in your lap then this is your girl. Please note we do not have a central kennel facility, all of our pets are located in foster homes. The first step in meeting one of our furry friends is to fill out an application on our website at <a href=''www.rainbowrescues.org''>www.rainbowrescues.org</a>. A volunteer will be in contact with you in 1-2 business days to review your application and speak with you about the adoption process. **Please be aware that we are not responsible for inaccurate information on some cross-posted sites such as inaccurate adoption fees and inaccurate pet info.**June 5, 2023, 7:02 am

Story
This is Beckett. He is a 10LB 17 month old 1/2 Papillon - 1/2 Jack Russel Terrier mix. He has been in our family since he was 12 weeks old. Unfortunately, due to housing circumstanes, we need to re-hoe all of our pets. He is a happy spark-plug of a dog. Due to there terrier in him he is hardier than most tiny dogs but he is also more stubborn and he thinks he is in charge. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body but he is an escape artist and he needs a more than just purely reward based training. He is crate trained but he is not fully house broken yet. He will need someone who can spend a good deal of time working with him. He does love kids and other dogs and he is family good with cats. If you have an older responsible child who could use a dog attached to their ankles, this might be the right dog for your family. That being said, he would be happy in any home where there is someone who needs a ride-or-die companion.
