Story
Ginger Sesame has lived some life, raised some babies, and has arrived at this new chapter ready to be where the people are. All the people. Always. Her foster says her theme song should be "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and having read everything about her, we're not arguing. She wants to be on your lap, or at your feet, or following you through every room of the house. She has decided that humans are her thing, and we support her in that. She takes a minute to decide someone is trustworthy, but once she's in, well…you get it. She loves calm children who are willing to get on her level, and does well with other dogs as long as she doesn't have to interact with them (she's not rude, just…indifferent). She prefers to be carried up stairs and does best in a home without a lot of them, or with people happy to do the carrying, thankyouverymuch. She freezes a little when approached from above, so a slow crouch and letting let her come to you goes a long way. She circles three to five times before she poops, which we just thought you should know because it’s funny. With her coat cut short, she apparently resembles a chihuahua or possibly a house elf, and her ears are wildly expressive. She is, in short, the perfect pooch in the perfect package. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
Meet Patrick: The Head-Tilting Senior with a Puppy Heart! Don't let the 12 to 14 years fool you— Patrick is a highly active Papillon mix who completely forgot he’s a senior dog! Rescued as a stray by Senior Dogs and Friends, this resilient, low-riding gentleman acts like a dog a fraction of his age. He is a total shadow who loves following you around, tilting his head intently when you speak, and claiming his rightful spot on the couch for cuddles. Watch Patrick in Action! Want to see his youthful spirit for yourself? Check out our website to see videos of Patrick strutting his stuff on walks, playing with his favorite toys, and mastering the art of couch relaxation! The Perfect Roommate: Social Life: Loves meeting new people, gets along great with friendly dogs, and is comfortable around calm, respectful older kids. (Cats are a mystery for now!). Favorite Hobbies: Daily walks, rolling around in the grass, and listening to your daily stories. Health & Pampering Requirements: The Diet: Because Patrick has lost most of his teeth, he enjoys a delicious, human-grade soft/moistened diet. No intense daily brushing required, just routine vet checks! Fitness Plan: He is currently on a gentle weight-loss plan to keep his low-riding frame sleek. He takes daily joint supplements to stay spry, which his adopter should continue. Medical Status: Neutered, fully vaccinated, and beautifully groomed. Adoption Timeline & Details: Patrick is ready to head to his forever home this week (the first week of October) ! We are actively reviewing applications to set up meet-and-greets. Adoption Fee: $395.00 How to Apply: Head over to www.smalldogrescue.org to submit your application. Our team reviews applications within 3 to 5 days to schedule a meet-and-greet, followed by a home check. The whole process takes about 1 to 2 weeks. Apply today to bring this joyful little shadow into your life! October 3, 2026, 12:48 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  Izzy came to us after her Mama passed and family wasn't able to take her in.  We were told she had no teeth but at her exam, she did have a few rotten molars still so we took care of that and now she is toothless.  She's in good shape for a 14 year old and gets around great with the dogs in her foster home!  She's very social with people and other animals but loves to hang with her people.  She needs a fenced yard or she will roam.  She barked a lot when she first arrived and was probably just confused where she was at as it's subsided to normal Pom barking.   She needs a soft landing with someone who's home most of the time and will keep her coat brushed (it was an awful mess too when we got her with a lot of bald patches from chewing fleas).  Since she has no teeth, we feed her canned food, Nature's Domain, from Costco.  She's done great on it and is in much better shape than when she arrived.   Who can give this doll a well loved and cared for rest of her life? Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 3, 2026, 1:07 pm
