Story
Animal Information: Meet Opal. At 8 years old and just 10 pounds, this little Papillon mix is all about the simple things in life: a cozy lap, a little affection, and someone to call her own. Opal is a sweet girl who loves climbing into your lap for some quality cuddle time. She’s friendly with staff and has been kenneled with other dogs, though she tends to get pushed around by her canine companions. We think it’s time this little lady got the chance to be someone’s favorite Foster Profile: Opal (affectionately called 'Izzy' in her foster home) has settled in well to the PNW and is ready to find her forever home. She quickly was at ease with everyone in her foster home, fell in love with a soft blanket on the couch, and is enjoying all things in her foster home. She is house trained, walks well on leash, loves cuddling up on the couch and enjoying the slower things in life.  She's sleeping through the night in her crate, enjoys watching all the kitchen-activities and will happily accept any pets that some her way.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, heartworm test, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization (ID 81-5101166). Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Tulare Shelter, and will be transferred via Furry Freight, arriving to foster care on 10/25 and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.November 1, 2026, 11:18 pm

Story
Ginger Sesame has lived some life, raised some babies, and has arrived at this new chapter ready to be where the people are. All the people. Always. Her foster says her theme song should be "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid, and having read everything about her, we're not arguing. She wants to be on your lap, or at your feet, or following you through every room of the house. She has decided that humans are her thing, and we support her in that. She takes a minute to decide someone is trustworthy, but once she's in, well…you get it. She loves calm children who are willing to get on her level, and does well with other dogs as long as she doesn't have to interact with them (she's not rude, just…indifferent). She prefers to be carried up stairs and does best in a home without a lot of them, or with people happy to do the carrying, thankyouverymuch. She freezes a little when approached from above, so a slow crouch and letting let her come to you goes a long way. She circles three to five times before she poops, which we just thought you should know because it’s funny. With her coat cut short, she apparently resembles a chihuahua or possibly a house elf, and her ears are wildly expressive. She is, in short, the perfect pooch in the perfect package. -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please go to our website for all specific information about this dog.  Our info doesn't transfer over to the adoption sites.  Izzy came to us after her Mama passed and family wasn't able to take her in.  We were told she had no teeth but at her exam, she did have a few rotten molars still so we took care of that and now she is toothless.  She's in good shape for a 14 year old and gets around great with the dogs in her foster home!  She's very social with people and other animals but loves to hang with her people.  She needs a fenced yard or she will roam.  She barked a lot when she first arrived and was probably just confused where she was at as it's subsided to normal Pom barking.   She needs a soft landing with someone who's home most of the time and will keep her coat brushed (it was an awful mess too when we got her with a lot of bald patches from chewing fleas).  Since she has no teeth, we feed her canned food, Nature's Domain, from Costco.  She's done great on it and is in much better shape than when she arrived.   Who can give this doll a well loved and cared for rest of her life? Prior to adoption, our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, micro-chipped and parasite treated/prevented.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 30, 2026, 3:37 pm
