Story
LOOKING FOR AN ANGEL TO ADOPT ME:  Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 19 lbs.  Hi, I’m Nitro!  I was adopted for about 3 years but came back to Mostly Mutts due to being protective of my mom and biting the grandson.  As a long-term resident of Mostly Mutts, I’ve bonded deeply with some volunteers that I love a lot who take me out for car rides and short walks, and we have a blast together.  I’m a sweet, funny, and quirky little guy who is ready to be your new best friend! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I want to be your only dog as I don’t want to share my person, or food/water bowls with another dog. / No cats please. / I should not live with kids due to the bite in my former home and due to guarding my favorite people. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m very devoted, loving, and sweet to my favorite people!  I’m the kind of dog that will bond deeply with a few people who are my primary pack/caregivers. Once I know and trust you, bring on the pets and lap time, please.  I’m sweet and loving to the people I love, and since being back with Mostly Mutts, I’ve had a few bites when guarding those favorite people.  I’ll do best in a home where my family unit is small and there are not too many new people coming and going. / My energy level is around a 4 – 6 and I love day trips with the volunteers that take me out.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program, so I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. My trainer says that I’m a smart guy! / I’ve had some issues with the crate both in my former home and at MM’s.  I do best in my little room at the shelter so maybe we can try a little washroom or another small area when you need to leave me alone.  / I’ve had very good potty manners at MM’s and in my former home on a good take-out schedule.  As I get older, I am needing to go out often as my little bladder can’t hold it for as long.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with my favorite people, short walks, hard bones, treats, car rides, fuzzy blankets, and soft toys. I also like having my chest and belly rubbed and I enjoy looking out windows and peanut butter – YUM! Yard and stream exploration, rolling around in the grass and stopping to smell the flowers are also on my list of favorites!  / I don’t like meeting people too quickly or people getting into my space, just give me time to get to know you.  I’m not a fan of fast or loud moving cars that pass me on walks.  I also don’t like being confronted or having my hind quarters rubbed, but I do well for my baths and wipes once I trust you.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I have a collapsing trachea so I should take shorter walks, led with a harness not a collar.  I should also not be walked much when it’s hot outside - just to go to the potty or to a cool stream. I’ve been diagnosed with Cushing’s, so I’ve started medication for that and I’m on a liver supplement.  I’ll need annual testing for Cushing’s, and I’ve just had that in Feb 2024. We are adding fish oil to my food for my skin.   If you’re looking for a devoted dog and have a nice quiet home environment as well as no kids or other pets, we could be a good match!  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 5, 2024, 12:19 pm

Story
‘CAPITAL CITY’ THEMED PUPPY:  Approx. 7 months old / Approx. 11 lbs. and growing Hi, my name is London!  I came to Mostly Mutts with my siblings, and I’m so glad to be part of the MM family! I was adopted for a month and loved so much, but an unavoidable situation came up that prevented my family from keeping me.  They are very sad about this but are thankful that Mostly Mutts can find an equally great new home for me!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I loved my sibling but am not quite sure of other dogs yet and sometimes I can be a bit reactive/barky towards them on walks. When I fixate too much, my trainers have found that snapping your fingers helps to break my focus or having some puppy kibble with you.  I’ll be formally dog tested soon.  I did meet a 4-year-old pit mix on a walk with my foster and was sweet with them.  If you have a friendly doggie at home, let’s meet. / Cats unknown. / I liked the kids (ages 2 and 5) that I met in my temp foster home, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that may fall on me as I am little. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a typically active and lively puppy!  I’ve got skills, too – as I can jump high which is typical of my breed – lol.   I have a fun, feisty and cuddly nature – ready to make lots of wonderful memories with a lucky family!  My temp foster said I was ‘full of love’, which I hope I can give to you!  My former family reported that I would bark at people, but once I met them I did well. I don’t think an apartment or condo type home would be the best fit for me as I do use my voice to communicate. / My energy level is 6-8, so be ready to be active with me! • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog!  I was working on ‘sit’ and ‘come’ with my former family, so please continue my training and I’m sure you can teach me lots more too! / I’ve been good in my little room at the shelter but was not crated in my former home, so you may need to teach me this. / I’ll need you to finish potty training me.  My former family took me out every couple of hours during the day and I was learning, so please finish teaching me this.  I did get distracted by all the goings on outside, so help me stay on task. At nighttime, I was holding it for about 7 hours. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to play with toys - sometimes a bit too much as I may not want to share them,  and I love to play fetch!  I’m also a fan of cuddling, Pup-Peroni treats for my training time and putting things like mulch and sticks in my mouth, so please watch me with this as they are not good for me to eat.  I also really enjoy sniffing everything outside and laying out in the sun on the grass. / I’m fearful of the loud cars around the Mostly Mutts shelter and will bark at them!  So perhaps we can find a less traveled place to go for hikes.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I’m spayed, current on my immunizations and micro-chipped. If you’re ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let’s meet!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.     May 5, 2024, 12:19 pm
