Story
A VERY SMART FELLOW:  1 year old / 11 lbs. and needs to gain a little weight Hi, my name’s Puddy!  I had a home, but my owners began having health issues that did not allow them to care for me any longer, so Mostly Mutts is going to help me find a new family to love.   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  No dogs in my new home please.  I met dogs at Mostly Mutts and was very reactive toward them, lunging and showing teeth. / Cats unknown. / I met a nice 10 year-old girl at Mostly Mutts and liked her, but kids 15+ will be a better fit for me due to food and ball guarding. I don’t like being petted at times, so older kids must respect my boundaries in these areas.   • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I was scared and confused as to why my world was changing when I first arrived. With a bit of time, patience and sitting with me, the volunteers helped me become more comfortable.  I am a friendly, active young guy that has a playful side. I seem to have some sensitivity when being petted at times, so I showed my teeth slightly at a volunteer to let her know to stop. I’m also a bit shy, so I wouldn’t want to live in a very busy household. / My energy level is 6-8 as I’m an active young adult dog who needs daily exercise. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a member of the Mostly Mutts University training program and so far, I know the ‘sit’, ‘stay’ and ‘down’ commands as well as proper door etiquette and I bet you can teach me even more!  Continuing training with my new family will be important as I need strong leadership from the family that I can follow.  I am actively learning manners with my trainer where my food bowl and balls are concerned as I nipped once over someone taking my ball from me. The folks at Mostly Mutts will be glad to give you guidance on that. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and my former family said that I was crate trained. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and my former family also said that I had good potty manners and would alert to go outside by barking.        • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love to run and have fun; I also like being with nice people. Playing with toys is great fun, and chasing tennis balls is a favorite of mine. / Other than some sensitive petting areas, I don’t like to share access to my food bowl or balls. It works well for the volunteers to place my food and water in the back of my kennel when I am not around. To overcome guarding behavior, I am in training to relinquish the ball when asked and feel comfortable with people around my food bowl. I look forward to showing how far I have come in training! Other than those things, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Being part Italian Greyhound, I naturally have very thin legs so please protect them by not letting me jump off of things. I’m looking for an owner with time and energy to do active, fun things with me and one that will read my signs and train me well.  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 8, 2023, 8:00 pm

Story
LOOKING FOR A CALM/PATIENT OWNER:  4 years old / 15 lbs.  Hi, my name’s Wesley!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am so grateful they are helping me find a great furever home!  I came in with a cherry eye and thankfully that has been surgically repaired. I’m also heartworm positive, so I’ll be treated for that soon.  Now I just need a patient and understanding family to come and adopt me. I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some other dogs at Mostly Mutts and didn’t play or show aggression, so if you have a dog, let’s meet.  I do get agitated when some of the other dogs at the shelter bark a lot. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids at Mostly Mutts, but because I can be reactive to certain touches, so best no kids in my new home.       • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  Once I know you, I am a sweet little guy who will happily share affection with you.  Just go slow with me initially and give me time to warm up to you.  I’ve made good friends with some of the volunteers and my bather at the shelter because they have done this, so that seems to be the key to making friends with me.  When people rush to get to know me, I’ve have bitten them, so let me come to you and let you know when I’m ready for affection.  I am playful with toys and am a lap dog once we are friends, but I can be reactive if petted in certain spots (my legs, head or backside).  I once bit a volunteer because of this.  Playful and affectionate once I know you, I am looking forward to making friends with my new family! / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I’ll be learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘stay’ and ‘down commands so far.  I also demonstrate proper door etiquette and I look forward to learning more.  My leashing habits are a work in progress also, so check back soon to see my progress. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though sometimes I bark and growl a bit in it since there are so many different people that approach it. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, so hopefully that will be the case in my new home too.      • LIKES/DISLIKES:  My favorite spot is in a comfy lap where I can give you lots of kisses, but it takes me a bit of time to feel comfortable enough to seek it out. I love treats (Pup-Peroni – yum!) but give them to me open-handed so I don’t nip a finger.  I like to play with toys, too.  Under belly scratches are the best, and please avoid petting me over my head as I am a bit head shy. / I don’t think I’d enjoy living in a home with a lot of folks coming and going or approaching me too quickly. Other than certain trigger points when being petted, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  Unfortunately, my previous owner did not keep me on a monthly heartworm preventative, so I am heartworm positive.  Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of my treatment with their vet, so local adoption only, please.  My cherry eye has been repaired and I’m thankful for that.  I must be muzzled when I go to the vet as I do not like it there!! I am looking for a loving home with a caring family who will see me through my heartworm treatment and love me furever!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  June 8, 2023, 8:00 pm
