Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ginger is pure joy wrapped up in a goofy, adventurous package. She’s a happy, playful girl who greets life with enthusiasm and confidence. Ginger loves people of all ages, gets along well with other dogs, and has been fine around cats too. She has a friendly, social personality but also has an independent streak that makes her fun and entertaining to watch. She has basic training, walks well on a leash (though she may still polish her manners), is crate trained, and does great in the car. Ginger is intelligent, eager to please, and always up for playtime. She has moderate energy and enjoys being active, followed by relaxing on her own terms. She’s the kind of dog who keeps you smiling just by being herself. One important thing to know about Ginger: she’s an excellent climber and a bit of a wiggly escape artist. Chain-link fences won’t hold her, and she should be contained in a secure kennel rather than a pen if confinement is needed. She’s clever and determined, so a home that understands her adventurous nature and can provide safe containment is a must. Ginger was found abandoned in a box, but that hasn’t dimmed her bright spirit at all. She’s resilient, confident, and ready to move forward into a loving home. She can be vocal when she wants something and will “talk” to let you know what’s on her mind, especially when she’s excited or stimulated by activity around her. Ginger would thrive in an active home that appreciates a smart, playful dog with a little mischievous sparkle. With the right setup and lots of love, she’ll make an amazing companion! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Nola is the kind of dog who steals hearts without even trying. At around 2 years old and a petite 25 pounds, Nola is the perfect “small but mighty” size with a whole lot of love packed in. This spunky girl is playful, cuddly, goofy, and incredibly gentle. She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and is amazing with kids—truly something special. Nola has become best friends with our 2-year-old toddler and is beyond gentle with him. She even loves sitting in a chair next to our 4-month-old baby, keeping a quiet, watchful eye. She has shown zero aggression toward children or dogs during the two months she’s been with us. Nola loves toys (especially small squeaky tennis balls!) and enjoys playing fetch—she’s still figuring out the “bring it back” part, but she’s very enthusiastic about the chase. Her energy level is classic puppy vibes: she loves walks and playtime, but she’s just as happy curling up at your feet or snuggling with you or another pup. She’s about 90% potty trained and does great when kept on a routine. Occasional accidents have happened, mostly overnight or during long stretches alone, but when someone is home she’s very good about going outside. She’s leash trained and walks well, though she can get excited when other dogs pass by—nothing aggressive, just happy enthusiasm. Nola knows how to sit and is very treat motivated, making her a great candidate for continued training. She could use some work on jumping and basic commands, but she’s eager to learn and wants to please. She would thrive in a home that has time and love to continue helping her grow. For a stray, Nola couldn’t be more perfect. She has truly stolen our hearts, and this decision comes with a lot of love. With a baby, a toddler, and limited space, we just can’t take on a second dog right now—but we know her perfect home is out there. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate, family-friendly pup with a playful spirit and a heart of gold, Nola may be your perfect match.   Nola is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 02/20/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
