Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Dumpling is a big-hearted, high-energy girl who absolutely adores her people. Once she warms up (which only takes a few minutes), she bonds deeply and wants nothing more than to be near her humans. She’s affectionate, playful, and very much a “perpetual puppy” who approaches life with enthusiasm and curiosity. She has basic training, walks on a leash (with room to polish her manners), is crate trained, and does well riding in the car. Dumpling has been working so hard on her potty training, and she's alllmost there.  With a consistent potty break schedule, she'll be completely potty trained in no time at all. Dumpling really loves lap time, despite her energy level, and thrives on interaction with her people. She’s eager to please and happiest when she’s included in your daily life. Dumpling does have a high-energy play style and can be mouthy when she’s excited. Her play includes growly noises that can sound intimidating if you’re not familiar with playful dog communication, but it’s all part of her puppy-like enthusiasm. Because of this, she’s best suited for a home with older children and larger dogs, and not recommended for small kids or small dogs. She can also get overstimulated during play, so an adopter who understands decompression, redirection, and healthy outlets for energy will help her shine. Dumpling resource guards food, so feeding should be managed carefully and ideally in a separate space. She’s also clever and determined — if you’re slow to open the back door, she’ll try to help you out. If she could reach a lever handle, she probably would let herself out, so secure doors and awareness are important. Dumpling came from BARC and has shown that, with structure and understanding, she does very well. She may be reactive to new people around her kennel when stressed, but otherwise she is excellent in her crate. She can be vocal when she wants to go outside, making sure her needs are clearly communicated. Dumpling would do best in a house rather than an apartment and with someone who appreciates an energetic, affectionate dog who is still learning how to regulate big feelings. With patience, structure, and love, Dumpling will be an incredibly loyal and fun companion who gives her whole heart to her people. Dumpling is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. YOU WILL FIND THE ANSWER TO ALL BASIC QUESTIONS BELOW. Please read carefully Before emailing. *If you have emailed using an “Apple ID” or other relay system you will Not recieve a response as they block Petfinder. All emails are answered within 24 hours. This dog is fostered near Rochester MN. Canica is a darling 1-2 year old mixed breed girl. She weighs about 22 pounds currently. She appears to be some type of JRT mix. Canica is sweet and friendly after a little time to warm up and see new things. She is good with other dogs. She is living with cats and doing just fine. We always recommend proper intros when meeting new feline friends. Canica is fully house trained and is crate trained. She does fine confined in an area with things to do during a work day. All new dogs may have accidents in a new home. Canica loves toys and plays fetch. She even enjoys playing outside in the snow. Canica likes to wear clothes and would do great learning to wear boots too! Because she is a bit of a wallflower, Canica would do great in a basic training class to help bond with a new family too. A little time and she is going to be your very best friend. *Each pup is spayed or neutered and current on their vet cares. *We do not hold or reserve dogs. We do not ship or fly. Story
Sweet little Bea was running around rural Georgia with her sidekick for several weeks after apparently being dumped. Everybody in the area said they were friendly, but no one knew them so they called animal control. The girls were very bonded at first, but we feel like their first love is people. They want to love people and be loved so badly but when they didn’t have any people, they became very attached to each other. Her sidekick has now found her forever home and it’s Miss Bea’s turn now. She’s exceptionally sweet and outgoing. She loves to go for walks and rides in the car. She also loves to snuggle on the couch. Bea is 22 pounds and between four and five years old. WE ARE ONLY GUESSING AT HER BREED! She does not really have a JRT temperament but she has the size and cute little short tail. She is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed and heartworm tested negative. She appears to be a very healthy and happy girl. She had a couple of accidents the first day in her foster home but now she’s doing very well with house training if you would like to be Miss Bea’s hero and the center of her world, please email omlc7@hotmail.com or Dogs4mylife@gmail.com and we will send you our information and application. If you do not see a response, please check your spam folder.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ginger is pure joy wrapped up in a goofy, adventurous package. She’s a happy, playful girl who greets life with enthusiasm and confidence. Ginger loves people of all ages, gets along well with other dogs, and has been fine around cats too. She has a friendly, social personality but also has an independent streak that makes her fun and entertaining to watch. She has basic training, walks well on a leash (though she may still polish her manners), is crate trained, and does great in the car. Ginger is intelligent, eager to please, and always up for playtime. She has moderate energy and enjoys being active, followed by relaxing on her own terms. She’s the kind of dog who keeps you smiling just by being herself. One important thing to know about Ginger: she’s an excellent climber and a bit of a wiggly escape artist. Chain-link fences won’t hold her, and she should be contained in a secure kennel rather than a pen if confinement is needed. She’s clever and determined, so a home that understands her adventurous nature and can provide safe containment is a must. Ginger was found abandoned in a box, but that hasn’t dimmed her bright spirit at all. She’s resilient, confident, and ready to move forward into a loving home. She can be vocal when she wants something and will “talk” to let you know what’s on her mind, especially when she’s excited or stimulated by activity around her. Ginger would thrive in an active home that appreciates a smart, playful dog with a little mischievous sparkle. With the right setup and lots of love, she’ll make an amazing companion! Ginger is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Sequoia is an adorable little puppy with a big personality and a love for adventure. He is playful, outgoing, and curious about the world around him, always ready to explore and see what’s next. Nothing seems to faze this confident little guy — he approaches life with enthusiasm and a happy, carefree attitude. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys playing with toys, romping around, and engaging with his people. Sequoia is affectionate and goofy, with a charming personality that makes him easy to fall in love with. He’s also intelligent and eager to please, which will make him a fun puppy to train as he grows. Like most puppies, he’ll benefit from consistent guidance and positive reinforcement as he learns his manners. Sequoia is friendly with people of all ages, including children under and over 10, and does well with adult men and women. He may bark some in typical puppy fashion, but nothing out of the ordinary for his age. He’s still learning the ropes and will need a family that understands normal puppy behavior and is willing to put in the time and patience to help him succeed. He came from a shelter, and while his past is limited, his present is full of potential. Sequoia is a happy, adventurous pup who’s ready to grow into a wonderful companion with the right home. Sequoia would be a great fit for a family or individual looking for a playful, affectionate puppy and who is prepared for the joys and responsibilities of puppyhood. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! My name is Sakura. I love people—all of them. If you sit down, I might hop right into your lap because I’m a professional cuddler-in-training. I’m affectionate, playful, and always up for some fun with toys (squeaky ones are my favorite, but don’t tell the others). I have that perfect moderate puppy energy: happy zoomies, playful romps, and then snuggles to recharge. I also really enjoy playing with other dogs! Making new friends is kind of my thing. Since I’m still a puppy, I do have those classic puppy habits—learning, exploring, and occasionally being a little silly—but I promise I’m trying my best every day. I’m looking for a fresh start in Minnesota, a cozy home, and a family who will love me forever. I’ll bring you laughter, kisses, and a warm spot in your lap whenever you need one. If you’re searching for a playful, loving little girl to grow up with, I think we might be perfect together.  Sakura is from Texas.
